Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts Introduce
When searching for "Camping Near Me" in the Yucaipa, California area, Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts, located at 38955 Oak Glen Rd, Yucaipa, CA 92399, USA, appears as a potential option. However, based on recent customer feedback available online, it is crucial for local users to approach this location with significant caution and to be well-informed before making any booking decisions. The reviews present a starkly contrasting picture, with one detailing a severely negative experience and another highlighting a positive event hosted at the resort.
One detailed review paints a concerning picture of Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts. The reviewer, who initially planned to stay for almost two weeks, left after only four days due to a multitude of issues. These issues, as listed, raise serious questions about the condition, management, and safety of the resort. Potential visitors should carefully consider these points.
Significant Concerns Regarding Facilities and Safety
The reviewer described the entire place as "outdated and run down," suggesting a lack of maintenance and potentially uncomfortable or unsafe conditions. The clubhouse was reported to have a moldy smell, indicating potential health hazards and poor upkeep of communal facilities. A fundamental issue encountered was the lack of functioning power at the assigned camping spot, with staff allegedly offering no resolution, leaving the campers without essential utilities.
Perhaps the most alarming aspect of the negative review is the mention of a bear being fed in the dumpsters, located a mere 30 yards from the camping area. This practice is highly irresponsible and dangerous, as it habituates bears to human food sources and increases the risk of negative human-wildlife interactions. Furthermore, the reviewer reported finding bear poop all over the kids' playground area, posing a direct safety and health risk to children using the facilities.
Questionable Staff and Disturbing Neighbor Behavior
The reviewer also raised concerns about the appearance of the staff, stating they looked as if they were "on drugs - or that they spent 20 years on them." While this is a subjective observation, it contributes to an overall impression of a poorly managed and potentially unsafe environment. Adding to the negative experience, the reviewer recounted an incident on Thanksgiving where neighboring campers were engaged in loud, profane arguments, disrupting the peace and safety of the park.
Financial Penalties for Early Departure
Despite the severely negative experience and early departure, the reviewer reported being charged an additional fee for leaving before their planned stay. This policy, coupled with the described conditions, suggests a lack of customer service and a prioritization of revenue over guest satisfaction and safety. The reviewer chose not to dispute the charge, simply wanting to distance themselves from the resort as quickly as possible, labeling it "hands down the worst place we have ever stayed." This strong condemnation should serve as a significant warning to any families or individuals considering Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts for their camping needs.
Positive Feedback Regarding a Specific Event: Oak Glen Retreat Rod Run Car Show
In stark contrast to the overwhelmingly negative camping review, another piece of feedback focuses entirely on the "Oak Glen Retreat Rod Run Car Show." This reviewer had a very positive experience, describing the car show as "terrific" with a "great selection" of various types of vehicles, including hot rods, rat rods, customs, antiques, vintage cars, motorcycles, and trucks, as well as muscle cars.
The reviewer specifically praised Oak Glen Retreat as a "great place to have a car show and to visit," highlighting its location in the "beautiful Oak Glen mountains above Yucaipa and Mentone California." They mentioned the appealing combination of "mountains, blue skies, great people, great cars and hospitality from the folks at Oak Glen Retreat" which made it a delightful event for families, friends, visitors, and car enthusiasts. The use of hashtags such as #oakglenretreat, #family, #outdoorlife, and #familyfun further emphasizes the positive atmosphere of the car show.
Reconciling the Conflicting Feedback
The significant disparity between the two reviews suggests that Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts might function as a venue for events, such as car shows, which can be well-organized and enjoyable, while the general state and management of the camping facilities may be severely lacking. It is possible that the focus and resources are directed towards hosting events rather than maintaining the quality and safety of the campground itself.
Implications for Local Users Seeking Camping
For local users searching for "Camping Near Me" and considering Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts, the information available online presents a serious dilemma. While the location in the Oak Glen mountains is described as beautiful and suitable for events, the detailed negative review of the camping facilities and management raises significant red flags. Potential campers must weigh these factors carefully.
Lack of Information on Services and Features
Beyond the contrasting reviews, there is a lack of specific information regarding the services and features typically expected at a campground or RV park. Details about the availability and condition of restrooms, showers, water hookups, electrical hookups (contradicting the negative review), waste disposal, and other amenities are not readily available. The mention of a clubhouse in the negative review suggests the presence of some communal building, but its reported condition is concerning.
Absence of Promotional Information
No specific promotional information for camping at Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts is present in the provided text. The positive feedback is solely related to a specific event, the car show, and does not reflect the general camping experience.
Recommendation for Local Users
Given the serious allegations in the negative review, including issues of safety (bear activity, potentially dangerous neighbors), lack of essential services (power), and poor maintenance (mold, rundown facilities), local users actively searching for "Camping Near Me" should exercise extreme caution when considering Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts for camping. It is strongly recommended to seek alternative campgrounds or RV parks in the Yucaipa or Oak Glen area that have more consistently positive recent reviews regarding their camping facilities and management.
If you are interested in attending events such as the Oak Glen Retreat Rod Run Car Show, the positive feedback suggests that the venue can successfully host such gatherings. However, this positive aspect of event hosting does not negate the serious concerns raised about the general camping experience.
Before making any commitment, it would be prudent to contact Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts directly at (909) 790-1801 or +1 909-790-1801 to inquire about the current condition of the facilities, safety protocols regarding wildlife, and their policies on guest satisfaction. However, given the severity of the negative feedback, proceeding with extreme caution and exploring other options for "Camping Near Me" is highly advisable.

Oak Glen Retreat - Halo Resorts Reviews
This place is terrible. First off - we planned on staying here for almost 2 weeks and left after 4 days.I will list all the things as to why - please be smarter than me and do nlt trust that this is a good spot. No. The entire place is outdated and run down. The club house smells like its got mold throughout the building. The power didn't even work at the spot the guy put us and basically told us we were out of luck- there's a bear that they feed in the dumpsters that was 30 yards from where we were camped, and bear poop all over the kids play ground area. The staff look like they are on drugs - or that they spent 20 years on them - I can't tell. The neighbors next to us on Thanksgiving were trying to first fight each other screaming profanity all over the park.We left and they charged my cc another fee for leaving early. I didnt even bother to dispute just wanted to get as far away from this place as possible.Hands down the worst place we have ever stayed and for any decent family looking for a place to stay - beware.

May 31, 2022 · Wayne SalvattiThis camp ground need maintain and love. I gave it a two because it’s surrounded by Great little city named Oak Glen. It’s in walking distance of some of the best restaurants, trails and Apple orchards. Electricity went out on us in the middle of the night. Most of the sites have issues with their electricity so make sure you being a surge protector, adapter . And be careful because they do have bears at this park. You must be a member in order to use the pool. Playground need some love and attention and repainting. The altitude is 4000 feet so it stay cool at night. We camped by one of the park rangers he was very nice !
Jul 26, 2021 · Debbie O'NealIt was a nice place to get out of the sun and enjoy a ice cold adult beverage. There was a bad playing The food looked like bar food which isn’t a bad thing I personally didn’t have anything to eat.
Sep 26, 2023 · Richard PoirierHorribly maintained looks abandoned, can't even recommend for 1 night stay like we did. Potholes galore broken cement slabs looks like a ghost town amidst the junky trailers that stay there. The drive in to park in the spot was quite precarious and very uneven disaster waiting to happen. Disappointed this place is even in the RPI network what a joke.
