Barn Yard Camping Introduce
For local residents in Ohio seeking a "camping near me" experience with a touch of seclusion, Barn Yard Camping, located at 68055 Wintergreen Rd, Lore City, OH 43755, USA, presents a mixed picture based on recent online reviews. While one review highlights a positive experience with tent camping and friendly owners, another describes significant issues with communication and unexpected restrictions on tent campers. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available information, acknowledging both the positive aspects and the reported negative experiences to help local users make an informed decision.
According to one reviewer, Barn Yard Camping is "a great place to stay" situated "set back off a quiet country road." This suggests a peaceful and somewhat remote environment, which could be appealing to those looking for a tranquil escape from more heavily trafficked areas. The mention of a quiet country road implies a setting where the sounds of nature might prevail, offering a more immersive outdoor experience. For local users searching for "camping near me" who value peace and quiet, this location could be a significant draw.
The same positive review praises the owners as "very friendly," which can greatly enhance the overall camping experience. Friendly owners can contribute to a welcoming atmosphere and provide helpful assistance to campers. This personal touch can make a stay more enjoyable and create a sense of community within the campground.
For tent campers, the positive review notes that the tent camping area is located "back in the woods behind the campers." This suggests a more secluded and potentially more natural setting for those preferring to sleep under canvas. The reviewer also appreciated that they were allowed to park their cars next to their tents, which adds convenience for loading and unloading gear and having personal transportation readily accessible.
In terms of basic amenities, the positive review mentions that each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, standard features that enhance the camping experience by providing a space for outdoor meals and campfires (subject to local regulations and any campground-specific rules). The price of $15 per night for a campsite, as mentioned in the review, suggests an affordable option for local camping.
Regarding facilities, the review indicates that the toilet is "privy style," which typically refers to a more rustic, outhouse-style toilet facility. While functional, this might be a consideration for campers who prefer modern flush toilets. On the other hand, the shower is described as "very clean with hot water," a significant plus for comfort and hygiene during a camping trip. Drinkable water is also reported to be available, a crucial amenity for any campground. Additionally, the campground offers a "large section of firewood for $20," providing a convenient way for campers to purchase wood for their fire rings.
For hikers, Barn Yard Camping has a notable feature: its proximity to the Buckeye Trail. The campground is reported to be just 0.8 miles from Belle Valley section point 8 of this extensive hiking trail. This makes it a potentially ideal stopover or base camp for those hiking the Buckeye Trail and looking for "camping near me" along their route.
However, it is crucial to consider the second, significantly negative review. This reviewer recounts a frustrating experience involving communication and an apparent change in policy regarding tent campers. After an initial call on a Friday where they were told something would be open after the first of the month and their tent camping plan for a couple of weeks "didn't seem to be a problem," they experienced a lack of response to calls on the following Monday. On Tuesday, after leaving a message, they received a text message with what they described as "unsolicited legal advice" and were told the owner couldn't help them.
Further complicating the situation, the reviewer states that a friend called the owner and was informed that "as the owner he didn't want tents there." This directly contradicts the initial conversation and the fact that "the sign clearly depicts tent and camper camping." The reviewer concludes by labeling this as "false advertising" and expresses extreme dissatisfaction with the experience.
Given this starkly contrasting feedback, local users considering Barn Yard Camping should be aware of the potential inconsistencies in communication and the possibility of unexpected limitations, particularly regarding tent camping. While the positive review highlights a pleasant and affordable experience with good amenities for tent campers, the negative review raises serious concerns about the campground's policies and communication practices.
As there is no mention of specific promotional information in either review, local users interested in any special offers or current rates should contact Barn Yard Camping directly using the provided phone numbers: (740) 825-4594 or +1 740-825-4594. It would be prudent to clearly inquire about the availability and policies regarding tent camping, as well as the current pricing and any other relevant information, before making a booking.
In conclusion, Barn Yard Camping near Lore City, Ohio, presents a mixed profile for local users searching for "camping near me." On one hand, it offers a secluded location off a quiet country road, friendly owners (according to one review), a dedicated tent camping area in the woods with car parking, basic amenities like picnic tables and fire rings, clean showers with hot water, and proximity to the Buckeye Trail, all at an affordable price point mentioned in one review. However, the significant negative review raises concerns about communication, potential changes in policy regarding tent campers, and possible false advertising. Local users should carefully consider both accounts and directly contact the campground to clarify their current policies and offerings before planning a stay.

Aug 01, 2024 · Elizabeth WatersCalled on a Friday and was told that there would be something open after the first. Explaining that we would be in a tent for a couple of weeks, it didn't seem to be a problem on Friday. Tried to call all day Monday the 1st and got no response. Called Tuesday and left message, got text message with a bunch of unsolicited legal advice and told he couldn't help. Friend called and was told that as the owner he didn't want tents there. The sign clearly depicts tent and camper camping. False advertising at it's best. I would give 0⭐ but Google doesn't allow that so I am putting it here 0000⭐
Jul 03, 2024 · Dolores CarleySuch a great stay, we reached out late and the owner responded right away. He answered all our questions very patiently and was as friendly as could be. He took in consideration that we had dogs and found us the perfect campsite. He was very accommodating and showed us the lay of the land (again even though we were there late). He even gave us a home grown watermelon! Each campsite has water, a picnic table and a fire pit. It’s a quiet and peaceful location. If you purchase firewood from him, you’re definitely getting your bang for your buck! Great price for stay and for firewood!Side note: cash only.
Oct 06, 2023 · Maggie MLooked for a place for one night camp. Don…Ron? Was very accommodating. Local state park required we stay two nights. We showed up late and left early. Was a perfect night, northern lights showed up in grand fashion that night. The road getting there was quite a zig-zag.
May 11, 2024 · Aj WilsonNo games being played. Wanted to camp for couple of weeks, reason be damned. Was refused. Why give a good review to someone that refuses you service when you have money in hand to pay for services.
