Hillview Acres Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me," Hillview Acres Campground, located at 66271 Wolfs Den Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725, USA, presents itself as an option in the Cambridge area. You can reach them at (740) 439-3348 or +1 740-439-3348. Customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on this campground, highlighting both positive aspects like friendly owners and a well-kept environment, as well as concerns regarding certain rules, maintenance, and interactions with the owner. Let's examine the environment, services, and features based on the available feedback to help local users make an informed decision.
Environment: Potentially Quiet and Well-Kept, Close to the Interstate
One reviewer who stayed overnight while traveling down I-77 noted that Hillview Acres Campground is "close to the interstate," which can be a convenient factor for those passing through or local users seeking easy access. This same reviewer described the spot they were given as a "quiet shady spot," suggesting that the campground has the potential for a peaceful environment, at least in certain areas or at certain times (as the long-term campers were not present during their Sunday night stay). They also mentioned that the campground is "well kept...no trash anywhere," indicating that attention is paid to the cleanliness of the grounds.
However, another reviewer paints a different picture, mentioning "a lot of the decks are delapidated" and unsafe to walk on. This discrepancy suggests that the overall environment might be a mix of well-maintained areas and areas needing repair. For local users looking for "camping near me" with easy access to I-77 and potentially quiet, shady spots, Hillview Acres Campground could be appealing. However, the varying accounts of maintenance need to be considered.
Services and Amenities: Mixed Perceptions
The customer reviews provide contrasting views on the services and amenities at Hillview Acres Campground:
- Friendly Owners (Potentially): One reviewer found the owners to be "very nice and friendly." However, another reviewer had a significantly negative experience with the owner regarding communication, access to their camper, and being banned from returning. This suggests that experiences with the owner can vary considerably.
- Well-Kept Grounds (Generally Clean): The absence of trash was noted positively by one reviewer, indicating some level of care for the grounds.
- Limited Guest Policy: A strict rule of only two cars per campsite was mentioned, with guests reportedly having to park six miles away at a park and ride, with no parking at open sites. This could be a significant limitation for campers expecting visitors.
- Potentially Dilapidated Decks: The poor condition of some decks raises concerns about safety and maintenance in certain areas of the campground.
- Differential Treatment: Allegations were made that seasonal "lifer" campers receive more leniency on rules compared to average seasonal campers.
- Bathhouse (Unknown Condition): One reviewer did not use the bathhouse, so its condition remains unknown based on this feedback.
For local users searching for "camping near me," the potential for friendly owners and a generally clean environment might be attractive. However, the strict guest policy and concerns about maintenance in some areas are important factors to consider.
Features: Proximity to I-77 and Potential for Quiet Spots
A key feature of Hillview Acres Campground is its proximity to Interstate 77, making it easily accessible for travelers and potentially convenient for local users as well. The availability of "quiet shady spots," as experienced by one reviewer, could be another appealing feature for those seeking a peaceful camping experience.
However, the reported limitations on guests, the alleged differential treatment of campers, and the maintenance issues with some of the decks could detract from the overall appeal. The contrasting experiences with the owner also suggest a degree of variability in customer satisfaction.
For local users in the "camping near me" category, the convenience of the location near I-77 and the possibility of a quiet, shady campsite might be selling points. However, it is crucial to weigh these against the reported negatives concerning rules, maintenance, and owner interactions.

Hillview Acres Campground Reviews
This campground has a lot of potential to be a great place to camp but unfortunately the owner is holding it back. You can only have 2 cars per campsite so guests are very limited if at all, was told there’s always an option for your guests to park 6 miles down the road at the park and ride and you can go get them……oh and no parking at open sites. A lot of the decks are delapilated and your foot will go thru them when you walk across. Seasonal campers that are “lifers” are given more leeway on the “rules” than the average seasonal camper. Six weeks prior to opening day, contacted to the owner to pull my camper out so I could get it serviced before the season opened, said he would then ignored every phone call and refused to answer the door. On opening day, tried to pull out the camper myself and got yelled at by the owner and was told I was banned from returning to the campground. Good thing I wasn’t going back!!!
Apr 16, 2024 · Erin BillmanWe stopped here on a Sunday evening while traveling down I 77. It is close to the interstate. The owners are very nice and friendly. We asked for a quiet shady spot and that is exactly what we got. The campground is well kept..no trash anywhere. We did not use the bathhouse so i do not know what it was like. The long term campers were not here..it was Sunday night...so we had the area all to ourselves...ahhhhhh ! We will be be back if/when we pass through this way again.
Jul 18, 2016 · Mary Ann EvansCamp sites for in and out camping spots are on top of a hill. Very picturesque. Lots of trees and views are nice. It is a very hilly area, so some campsites are not level. Nothing is paved. Nice staff. Thet drive you to your spot, which is nice as layout of the park is a bit difficult to figure out. No wifi. Got a few channels from TV antenna. Permanent residents are in a different location which I personally liked. Very quiet as you really are in the sticks here. Dump station very handily located and easy to use.Gravel roads to top of the hill, so without a 4 wheel drive, it can be tricky, if you are pulling something heavy. I would go back.
Oct 23, 2017 · Alberto BelmontMen groom the extremely large park daily. Sites are more than adequate in size with "huge yards and lots of shade". Spacing distance amongst campers is amazingly distant, making for a nice quiet place to be. Mr. John is a friendly gentleman and speaks true to the size of fish in the "two" large catch and release ponds available for guest fishing. My comments are only a few .... come see for yourself. We are still out catching fish!!!
May 30, 2014 · Chris BlackledgeStayed in the cabin for the deerassic classic in 2017. It was honestly more like a small shed but we're not very picky people and for the price it was amazing. The 10 mph speed limit was an issue just for the fact I drive a small front wheel drive sedan and with the steep gravel hills I kicked up their gravel a little bit and I felt bad but hey not much you can do. Plan on staying again in 2018.
