Spring Valley Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me," Spring Valley Campground, located at 8000 Dozer Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725, USA, offers a camping option in the Cambridge area. You can reach them at (740) 439-9291 or +1 740-439-9291. Customer reviews present a somewhat mixed picture of this campground, with some praising its level sites, cleanliness, and friendly staff, while others express concerns about maintenance issues and a perceived decline over time. Let's examine the environment, services, and features based on the available feedback to help local users make an informed decision.
Environment: Quiet and Well-Maintained Grounds (Generally)
One reviewer who stayed for two nights in a pull-through site described the location as "Quiet and peaceful" with "Grounds well maintained." They also noted their site was "Nice level spot." This suggests that the campground has the potential for a pleasant and well-kept environment. The presence of some "full-timers and local workers" might contribute to a sense of community within the campground.
However, another, more concerning review detailed the discovery of sewage around a hookup upon arrival, which reportedly remained unaddressed for multiple days. This raises questions about the consistency of maintenance and the responsiveness to reported issues. A long-time visitor also commented that the campground has been "running down hill the past 6 years," which, if accurate, suggests a negative trend in the overall environment and upkeep. For local users seeking "camping near me" that is generally quiet and well-maintained, Spring Valley Campground might appeal, but the reported maintenance lapse is a significant consideration.
Services and Amenities: Cleanliness of Bathrooms Contrasted with Sewage Issue
Based on the customer reviews, Spring Valley Campground offers the following services and amenities:
- Level Sites: One reviewer specifically mentioned having a "nice level spot," which is important for comfortable camping, especially for RVs.
- Clean Bathrooms and Showers: The bathrooms and showers were described as "very clean" by one guest.
- Helpful Staff: Staff were noted as being "nice" and accommodating, such as covering and heat-taping spigots due to freezing temperatures.
- Full Hookups (EWS): At least some sites, like the pull-through B6, offer electric, water, and sewer (EWS) hookups.
- Potential Sewage Issues: A concerning report of sewage containing waste around a hookup that was not cleaned up over several days indicates a potential problem with the sewage system or the responsiveness of maintenance in this instance.
The positive feedback regarding level sites, clean bathrooms, and helpful staff is encouraging for local users looking for "camping near me" with these features. However, the serious report of unaddressed sewage is a significant drawback that potential visitors need to be aware of.
Features: Convenient Sites and a Sense of Community, but Potential Decline
A notable feature of Spring Valley Campground seems to be its convenient pull-through sites, as highlighted by one reviewer. The interaction with "nice" staff and the quiet atmosphere also contribute positively to the camping experience for some. The presence of long-term residents might foster a sense of community.
However, the reported sewage issue and the long-time visitor's comment about a six-year decline suggest potential negative trends that could impact the overall quality of the campground. For local users in the "camping near me" category, the convenience and past positive experiences might be attractive, but the recent maintenance concern and the perceived decline are factors that cannot be ignored.
Promotional Information: A Campground with Positive Aspects and Noteworthy Concerns
Are you a local resident searching for "camping near me" in the Cambridge, OH area? Spring Valley Campground at 8000 Dozer Rd offers level sites, and at least one reviewer found the bathrooms and showers to be very clean, with friendly staff. They were even thoughtful enough to protect spigots during freezing temperatures.
However, it's important to also be aware of a concerning report regarding unaddressed sewage at a campsite and a long-term visitor's observation of a decline in the campground over the past several years. While some aspects of Spring Valley Campground appear positive, potential campers should consider these negative reports when making their decision.
To get the most current information and address any concerns, local users are encouraged to contact Spring Valley Campground directly at (740) 439-9291 or +1 740-439-9291. Spring Valley Campground Reviews
Stayed 2 nights in pull through B6 EWS. Nice level spot. They were nice enough to cover and heat tape spigots for the first night due to freezing temps. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Quiet and peaceful. Grounds well maintained. Some full-timers and local workers. All staff interacted with were nice. Would have stayed a couple extra days but they were booked-up. Rates and campground are better than some of the name brands we have stayed at. Will definitely stay here again!
Apr 10, 2025 · LArrived 4/12/25 at site A-4 to find sewage containing toilet paper and "human waste" laying around the sewage hookup.Reported the mess on 4/13/25 and on 4/15/25 when we decided to leave, the sewage remained on the ground. We full time RV and have stopped here many times during our travels. We can vouch for most of the reviews.... this campground is running down hill the past 6 years. Shame.John
Apr 14, 2025 · John GBEWARE IF YOU NEED AFTER HOURS HELP YOU WILL NOT GET IT.It is 7:46 at night and we have no water. Very low water pressure at the spicket so not enough to get water through any of our faucets or toilets. They had a water pipe break almost a week ago. Still not fixed and tonight from around 3 until now we haven’t had water. I called at 5:09 and was told it would be back on. Maintenance came around and said water was on but we are here with nothing now. There is absolutely NO way in contacting maintenance after hours. We are a traveling blue collar family we have stayed at KOA’s and we have stayed at middle of no where crap holes and this is the only place we’ve ever been that does not have an after hours line. Update: 8pm my husband went to find the maintenance man and was able to get it fixed.Should have known this would be a probably when the very first night I discovered there was not an emergency phone number to call when I had a drunk neighbor coming onto our campsite. They have a cool Halloween event but that’s seriously the only pro I can say about it this place.Other cons:Roads are absolutely horridRestrooms need some serious renovationsNovember until spring there is no one in the office there’s only the manager and one maintenance man and they work that dang maintenance man to the ground. Since it’s just him you can only get packages from office from 5pm-6pm.We have been told by so many people that the new owner is the root of the problem and I definitely think this is the case instead of paying a plumber to fix the water leak within a day or 2 they have the maintenance man working out there trying to fix it for a week. The water has a brown yellow tint even with our water filters we had nasty water.Pond is horrible needs to be raked. Any cast out you’re getting caught up on algae.Playground is practically nonexistent. Has not been updated since it was probably be put in. Swings are broken or missing. Basketball hoops have no net. When we travel we look for family friendly spots since we have 3 kids. This is not family friendly. All in all it did the job we needed it to. We had a place to stay while my husband was here for work but would not give this place more than 1 star. I sincerely hope you read this all to save you money and find some place a little nicer if you’re gonna be long term. They do NOT give you your money back once you pay.
Dec 06, 2024 · kristen velasquezOur little home away from home. Scott, Haley and Denny are very friendly and have always made us feel welcomed as regular weekend/ holiday campers the past few years. From bingo, food trucks, Dj’s and Bands, there is always something going on. We just stayed for our first Halloween weekend and what an amazing experience we had! A Bike parade for kids, hay ride, trick or treat, and impressive spooky haunted house! We love camping here because it’s accessibly to interstate, local businesses and restaurants too! Highly recommend a stay!
Oct 14, 2024 · Lori Bertus-WhaleyFine for a stop for the night. This is a huge campground with lots of long-term and short-term spots. The roads in and within are in very bad shape and need to be regraded. There is one bathhouse that could be better maintained (and cleaned). There is a dated playground that is poorly maintained. There's a creek and a very poorly maintained sizeable pond. The price was good ($44 for full hookup pull through in Sep of 2024). Our site (A2) was leveled front to back but required a small adjustment side to side. The utilities were located in the very front part of the site, requiring extentions for all 3 services. It was an easy access in and out. We had WiFi. The pool was empty (past labor day).
