The environment at Bedal Campground is frequently described as awesome and beautiful, characterized by lush trees and picturesque scenery. Its location directly on the river enhances its scenic appeal, offering opportunities for riverside relaxation and enjoyment. The campground is noted for its thoughtful design, suggesting that campsites are well-laid out to maximize the natural surroundings. However, visitors in June should be prepared for bugs, emphasizing the need for insect repellent to fully enjoy the outdoor experience. Accessing the campground involves a 20-minute drive on a gravel road that is covered by dense greenery. This road is described as bumpy and having potholes, indicating that visitors should be prepared for a somewhat rugged drive to reach the campsite. The remoteness of the campground contributes to its tranquil atmosphere, allowing for a deeper immersion in nature.
In terms of services, Bedal Campground offers a more rustic camping experience with limited amenities. Notably, the campground has no cellular coverage, no running water, and no electricity at the campsites. This makes it ideal for those seeking a more traditional and off-grid camping experience. The campground host is mentioned as being welcoming and helpful, even offering firewood to campers. For essential needs, the campground provides non-flush restrooms. While lacking modern conveniences, the focus is clearly on the natural environment and a more self-sufficient camping style.
Key features of Bedal Campground include its prime location right on the river, offering scenic views and potential for water-related activities (though specific activities are not detailed in the reviews). The picturesque scenery, with lush trees, contributes to a beautiful and natural setting. Each campsite is equipped with picnic tables and fire pits, essential for outdoor dining and campfires. A significant feature for safety is the presence of metal, bear-proof food storage boxes at each campsite, crucial for protecting food and ensuring the safety of both campers and wildlife in this potentially bear-inhabited area. The mostly reservation-based system suggests a well-managed campground, although the availability of a few first-come, first-served sites offers some flexibility. The remote location, while meaning no cell service, provides a true escape into nature and a peaceful camping experience.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive descriptions of the campground's beauty and location serve as implicit endorsements. The mention of being "awesome" and "very scenic" highlights the natural appeal. The fact that it is "very well designed" suggests a thoughtfully planned and maintained campground. The combination of riverside location and bear-proof storage caters to both scenic enjoyment and safety, which could be considered key selling points for those looking for "camping near me" that offers both beauty and practicality in a potentially wild environment.
For those considering Bedal Campground for their next "camping near me" adventure, it's important to be prepared for a more rustic experience. The lack of cell service, running water, and electricity means campers will need to bring their own water, power sources (if needed, such as portable chargers), and rely on more traditional camping methods. The bumpy gravel road to the campground should also be taken into consideration when planning your trip, ensuring your vehicle is suitable for such terrain and allowing ample travel time. The presence of bugs, especially in June, necessitates bringing effective insect repellent. The bear-proof food storage underscores the importance of being aware of wildlife and following proper food storage guidelines.
Despite the lack of modern amenities, the beauty and tranquility of Bedal Campground seem to be its primary draws. The opportunity to camp right on the river, surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque scenery, offers a chance to reconnect with nature. The provision of picnic tables and fire pits at each site facilitates comfortable outdoor living, while the bear-proof boxes provide peace of mind regarding food safety. The option for both reservations and a few first-come, first-served sites offers some flexibility in planning. The welcoming host further enhances the camping experience.
In conclusion, Bedal Campground near Darrington, WA, appears to be an excellent option for those seeking "camping near me" that prioritizes natural beauty and a more remote experience. Its riverside location, scenic environment, and features like bear-proof storage make it a compelling destination for nature lovers. However, potential visitors should be well-prepared for the lack of cell service, running water, and electricity, as well as the bumpy access road and the presence of insects, especially during certain times of the year. The positive reviews highlight the campground's beauty and design, suggesting a rewarding experience for those who come prepared to embrace a more rustic camping adventure in a stunning natural setting.

Bedal Campground Reviews
This is an awesome campground!Right on the river, and very scenic. It is very well designed and mostly by reservation though we counted 6 that were first come first served.
Sep 03, 2024 · Robert BreischThis is a beautiful remote campground with lush trees and picturesque scenery. We visited in June and were immediately greeted by bugs, don't forget your insect repellent! There is a gravel road under the cover of dense greenery for about 20 minutes that is full of bumps and potholes that takes you to the campsite. The host stopped by to say hello and asked if we needed any firewood. The campsite has no cellular coverage, no running water and no electricity. The campsites have picnic tables and fire pits. Each campsite has metal boxes to store food and are marked as bear proof. The restrooms are non-flush. Our stay was pleasant and we enjoyed being tucked away in nature.
Jul 09, 2022 · Swati CWe really liked our stay once we changed camp sites. We reserved the site w the shelter fr a 30ft trailer as per the websites limits for that site. We were very glad that our plans changed and we ended up taking a 30ft motorhome instead as I don't think we could have gotten a truck pulling a trailer anywhere near that size through the hairpin curves of the campground, let alone maneuver it into that site. The campground is more suited to tent camping and while we made it work and enjoyed the river for our stay, it should say that or have more clear descriptions on the gov site.
Aug 31, 2021 · Lauren ShockleyBedal Campground offers a truly remote camping experience in Western Washington, promising solitude and tranquility that's hard to find elsewhere. The quiet surroundings and seclusion were definitely appealing. However, some amenities were lacking and the overall maintenance could use improvement. While the remoteness was a draw, it came at the cost of certain conveniences.
Aug 24, 2023 · James A. Loaris Jr.We stopped to check out the camp spots for a future trip. It definitely made our list. It looked like all the spots there were great spots. Clean , well maintained, close to river, bear boxes and small fire pits.
