Bergland Township Park Introduce
For local residents and visitors seeking a fantastic "camping near me" experience in the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Bergland Township Park, located in Merriweather, presents an appealing option. Situated at HCRF+MG8, 201-203 Ash St, Merriweather, MI 49947, USA, the park can be contacted at (906) 575-8733 or +1 906-575-8733 for inquiries. Based on recent customer feedback, Bergland Township Park offers a range of amenities and recreational opportunities, making it a great choice for day trips and overnight stays alike.
One enthusiastic visitor described it as a "Great park for day use or camping," highlighting its versatility for various outdoor activities. The park boasts a "Nice boat ramp," which is a significant advantage for those looking to enjoy Lake Gogebic, a renowned local attraction. Families will appreciate the presence of a "playground," providing a dedicated space for children to play and burn off energy. Furthermore, the availability of "amenities" suggests that the park is equipped to cater to the needs of its visitors.
A standout feature mentioned is the "Clean, heated bathrooms with shower." Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are always a priority for campers, and the added benefit of heating ensures comfort even during cooler evenings or off-season visits. The park also provides a convenient "Dump station free for paid campers and only $5 for others," making it a practical choice for RV travelers. Basic campsite necessities such as "Picnic tables and fire rings" are reported to be "in good condition," ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. The overall impression from this review is that the "Grounds are spacious and clean," contributing to a pleasant and relaxing environment.
It's important to note that the first reviewer mentioned the park "Closing October 10th for the 2022 season." While this specific closure date has passed, it indicates a seasonal operating schedule, and potential visitors should always inquire about the current operating dates for the year of their планирование trip.
Another visitor, who stayed with their ATV club in the upper campsite, provided further insights into the camping-specific aspects of Bergland Township Park. They noted, "Our ATV club stayed in the upper campsite. I was told there were 8 sites, but we only found 7 hook-ups." This discrepancy suggests a potential need for clarification when making reservations regarding the exact number of hookups available. The reviewer also mentioned a reservation experience that differed from expectations: "I made reservations 6 months prior, but there was nothing posted on each site that they were reserved. I was told we had the entire upper campsite, but when we arrived two sites were already filled. We made it work by doubling up on a couple sites." This indicates a potential area for improvement in the reservation system and site management, particularly regarding the clear marking of reserved sites.
Despite these minor issues, the reviewer highlighted some significant positives: "It was basically a first come first serve Campground with 20 amp service." This suggests that while reservations are taken, the actual site allocation might have elements of a first-come, first-served system, and campers should be prepared for potential flexibility in site assignments. The availability of 20 amp electrical service is a valuable amenity for those needing to power basic appliances and devices in their RVs or campers.
The reviewer also offered a practical "Tip: The men’s restroom is where the electric needs to be reset if you trip the breaker." This kind of insider information can be very helpful for fellow campers. The affordability of the camping is also emphasized: "Awesome price $15.00 nt." This makes Bergland Township Park a very budget-friendly option for those seeking "camping near me."
The park's location offers excellent access to recreational activities: "close walk to the beach. My kids loved the beach, and playground. Really nice fishing pier as well." The proximity to Lake Gogebic's beach is a major draw, especially for families with children. The presence of a fishing pier further enhances the appeal for anglers. Additionally, for ATV enthusiasts, the park's location is a significant advantage: "It was great that the campground was on the ATV trail, so we could ride out from the campsite." This direct access to ATV trails makes Bergland Township Park an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area on off-road vehicles.
Finally, the reviewer mentioned the availability of "Two nice pavilions for gatherings located in the upper campground." These pavilions provide sheltered spaces for group activities, picnics, or social gatherings, adding to the park's suitability for larger groups or events.
In summary, Bergland Township Park offers a diverse range of features and services for those seeking "camping near me" in the Merriweather, MI area. Key highlights include:

Jun 25, 2021 · JESSIE JEANAbsolutely love it here!! Beautiful area with a play ground and beach area. You can fish off the pier area and launch your boat on the nice boat landing! Really nice campsites with updated electric, water and indoor showers and bathrooms! Highly recommend this place! Check it out!
Jun 16, 2019 · Melissa BakerIf you're really really into fishing and don't mind concrete bunkers for washrooms this is an okay park. For anybody else avoid this park! The smell of either fish cleaning or the maggots in the dumpster was overwhelming. The washrooms although cleanish were full of bugs and shared by anyone using the public ballpark. If it rains the sites can be very muddy.
Jul 07, 2017 · A WilliamStayed 5 nights. Great affordable location for Porcupine Mts excursions. Solid Verizon signal! A gem of your not looking for cushie camping. Basic amenities.
