Lake Gogebic County Park Introduce
For local residents in and around Marenisco, Michigan, seeking a picturesque "camping near me" experience, Lake Gogebic County Park offers a compelling option. Situated at 49947 M-64 N8598, Marenisco, MI 49947, USA, and reachable by phone at (906) 842-3333 or +1 906-842-3333, this county park provides direct access to the stunning beauty of Lake Gogebic. Based on feedback from visitors, the park is particularly appealing during the fall season, offering beautiful scenery and a tranquil atmosphere. While some practical considerations regarding site conditions and amenities are noted, the overall experience of camping near Lake Gogebic appears to be highly rewarding for those seeking natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
When considering "camping near me," the environment of Lake Gogebic County Park is a significant attraction. The park boasts a "nice view of the lake," allowing campers to wake up to and relax with scenic waterfront vistas. One visitor specifically mentioned the "absolutely beautiful and peaceful calm" experienced while walking the grounds during the peak fall color season, highlighting the park's potential for providing a serene and visually stunning natural setting. It's worth noting that one review mentioned "very little trees except higher up in campground," suggesting that while there is some tree cover, the lower camping areas might be more open. This could be advantageous for those wanting unobstructed lake views but might offer less shade during hotter months. The overall environment is characterized by the presence of Lake Gogebic, a large and picturesque lake that serves as a focal point for recreation and scenic enjoyment.
The services at Lake Gogebic County Park appear to be somewhat basic, typical of a county-run facility. One camper noted the absence of county personnel on-site during their mid-September stay, which might mean limited immediate assistance or services. Additionally, the lack of firewood for sale on-site was mentioned, indicating that campers should plan to bring their own or source it elsewhere. For RV campers, it's important to be aware of the potential need for a longer-than-usual water hose, as one visitor reported needing 75 feet for their hookup. The availability of water hookups suggests that at least some sites are equipped for RVs, although the review also indicated that the "pull thrus" might not be suitable for larger RVs (e.g., 37 feet). It is advisable for RVers to confirm site suitability when making reservations. While not explicitly mentioned, county parks often provide basic restroom facilities, and it would be prudent to inquire about the availability and condition of these when planning a visit. Local users should contact the park directly to get the most up-to-date information on available services and any specific requirements for campers.
The features of Lake Gogebic County Park are largely centered around its access to Lake Gogebic and the surrounding natural beauty. The lake itself is a significant feature, offering "abundant recreational activities" as mentioned by one visitor. These could include fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming, although specific details about park-provided access or facilities for these activities are not included in the reviews. The potential for "picturesque views anytime of year" makes the park an attractive destination for nature lovers and photographers. The mention of "peak fall color season" suggests that the park's location provides opportunities for stunning autumn foliage viewing. While one review noted that "sites are not very level," this is an important feature for campers to be aware of, particularly those with RVs, as it might require extra effort to level their vehicles. Despite this, the overall appeal of the park seems to lie in its natural setting and the access it provides to the lake and the surrounding scenic area. For local users seeking "camping near me" with a focus on natural beauty and lake access, Lake Gogebic County Park presents a compelling option.
No specific promotional information for Lake Gogebic County Park was included in the provided reviews. As a county park, it might have different pricing structures for residents and non-residents, or seasonal rates. Local users looking for "camping near me" should check the Gogebic County Parks and Recreation website or contact the park directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about any current fees, reservation policies, or potential discounts for local residents. It's also worth asking about any special events or activities that might be planned during their intended stay, especially during peak seasons like the fall color period. Being aware of any costs and reservation procedures will help local campers plan their visit effectively and take advantage of any available cost-saving opportunities.
In conclusion, Lake Gogebic County Park offers local residents a chance to experience "camping near me" in a beautiful setting centered around Lake Gogebic. The park is particularly noted for its scenic views, especially during the fall, and its potential for peaceful and relaxing getaways. While some practical considerations regarding tree cover, site levelness, and the availability of on-site amenities like firewood and staff presence have been mentioned by visitors, the overall appeal of camping with direct access to Lake Gogebic and the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula remains strong. Local users are encouraged to contact the park directly to gather the most current information on services, features, and any applicable fees or reservation procedures to ensure a well-planned and enjoyable camping experience at Lake Gogebic County Park.

Lake Gogebic County Park Reviews
Stayed two nights in mid September. Nice place to camp in the Fall. Very little trees except higher up in campground. Nice view of the lake. No county personnel on site when we were there. No wood for sale. Bring extra hose for water hookup. We needed 75 feet. They say they have pull thrus but not for a 37 ft RV. Sites are not very level either.

While RV camping is permitted and encouraged, I found myself visiting in my passenger vehicle. Lake Gogebic sets the scene for picturesque views anytime of year, while providing abundant recreational activities!
