We have been camping here for nearly 10 years with the past 4 yrs. as seasonal campers. We have members in our family who have have a longer history out here. We have witnessed much progress in updating the park from year to year. You must take baby steps before you can run with it. It is a very nice family which owns the park. Together they took it over from their previous owner their dad and granddad.Rules are made to keep people safe and protect the property. Ask if you need to see the rules. It should be common sense to respect that which is not yours. There are children on the premises don’t get stupid drinking. Drinking is fine but getting carried away isn’t.We all want to have fun but we must be considerate and respect one another.A dump… there is a process for removing previously owned property from the campground and it can not happen over night. It can take quite awhile.Sulphur smell there isn’t much you can do about it it’s a natural occurrence with well water that changes with barometric pressure changes. You say dirty… do you do your part and make sure things are as you left them. This places can be considered a mom & pop business and it’s important not to run them down. Come on camping season 2023! - Kt Graham-Jordan

If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Findlay, Ohio area, Shadylake Campground, located at 11506 Township Rd 101, presents itself as a family-owned and operated campground with a long history. With phone numbers (419) 423-3490 and +1 419-423-3490, Shadylake Campground invites local users to explore its offerings for both short-term visits and seasonal stays.

As a local option within the "camping near me" category, Shadylake Campground has been a part of the community for an extended period, with some families having a camping history there spanning over a decade. The current owners, a family who took over from their father and grandfather, are reportedly making continuous efforts to update and improve the campground. According to one long-term camper, there has been "much progress in updating the park from year to year," suggesting an ongoing commitment to enhancing the facilities and overall experience for visitors.

The environment of Shadylake Campground is characterized by an "over abundant amount of trees," as noted by one reviewer. While this abundance of trees may create a shady and natural ambiance, it has also been mentioned as a potential obstacle for satellite TV reception. The campground is also located near a railroad track, which may result in train noise throughout the night. Potential campers should consider these environmental factors when planning their stay.

In terms of services and features, Shadylake Campground caters to a range of camping needs, offering both short-term and seasonal camping options. Seasonal campers, in particular, seem to have established a strong connection with the campground over the years. The rules in place at Shadylake Campground are stated to be "made to keep people safe and protect the property," emphasizing a focus on safety and respect within the camping community. Visitors are encouraged to inquire about these rules if needed, with the expectation that common sense and consideration for others' property should prevail.

The family-oriented nature of the campground is highlighted by the reminder to be mindful of children on the premises and to drink responsibly, emphasizing a community atmosphere where consideration for others is paramount. This suggests that Shadylake Campground aims to foster a family-friendly environment for all its guests.

However, some reviews also point out potential areas for improvement. One visitor described the campground as a "dump," referencing a perceived slow process for removing previously owned property. This suggests that while updates are reportedly ongoing, some areas of the campground might still be in need of attention or cleanup. Another environmental factor mentioned is a "sulphur smell" associated with the well water, which is described as a natural occurrence influenced by barometric pressure changes. While the owners may have limited control over this, it is something potential visitors should be aware of.

Another review detailed challenges encountered during a two-night stay. These included difficulty getting into the campground, small site sizes, and a significant distance (75ft) to the water hookup, requiring two hoses. The reviewer also echoed the comment about the abundant trees affecting TV reception and noted a disruptive party with littering by neighbors. Additionally, concerns were raised about the condition of a picnic table platform with protruding nails and a lack of immediate office presence upon arrival during check-in time. While this reviewer acknowledged that the people encountered were nice, they ultimately did not recommend the campground based on their experience.

It's important to consider the contrasting viewpoints presented in the reviews. While some long-term campers express satisfaction with the ongoing improvements and the family atmosphere, others highlight specific issues related to site size, amenities, environmental factors like train noise and water smell, and overall maintenance. Potential local users considering Shadylake Campground should weigh these factors based on their individual needs and preferences.
