Sweet Water RV Park Introduce
For those exploring recreational vehicle accommodations in the Moneta, Virginia area, and utilizing platforms categorized as "RV Parks Near Me" to find suitable locations, Sweet Water RV Park, situated at 4474 White House Rd, Moneta, VA 24121, USA, presents itself as a destination with a mix of positive attributes and some evolving concerns. With contact phone numbers (540) 296-0522 and +1 540-296-0522, Sweet Water RV Park has garnered praise for its cleanliness, amenities, and hospitable service, but recent feedback also highlights emerging issues related to management, space allocation, and park maintenance.
One enthusiastic reviewer lauded Sweet Water RV Park as "one of the nicest RV parks we’ve been to!" They specifically mentioned "clean, level lots" and a "spotless & convenient laundry site" as key positives. The affordability and peaceful atmosphere of the park were also highlighted, making it an attractive option for those seeking a tranquil stay. The availability of "full hookups" is a significant convenience for RV travelers, providing essential utilities at each site. Furthermore, this reviewer commended the "excellent communication with their guests" and the hospitality of Shannon, John & Emmett, who also offer the valuable service of onsite propane filling. This overwhelmingly positive experience suggests that Sweet Water RV Park has historically provided a high standard of service and a pleasant environment for its guests.
However, more recent feedback introduces some contrasting perspectives. One individual who states, "I love living here," indicates a shift in the park's dynamics following the departure of someone named Milton. This resident expresses concern over changes in management, describing the new management as "very unfriendly." This shift in management style has reportedly led to restrictions on space usage, particularly for those with larger vehicles like cargo vans and accompanying trucks. The alteration of their site resulted in a "very cramped" living situation on a "very tight street" where parking their truck has become "almost impossible." This suggests a potential decline in the quality of service and a less accommodating approach from the current management.
Another significant concern raised in the reviews pertains to pet owners within the park. While acknowledging that "most of them are responsible," this reviewer points out a persistent issue with some individuals who "walk their dogs and leave the waste all over the park." Despite this resident's efforts to carry extra bags and clean up after their own dogs, they find themselves picking up after others on almost every walk, describing it as "disgusting." This indicates a potential lack of enforcement of pet waste policies and a negative impact on the park's cleanliness and overall environment for all guests.
Furthermore, the closure of the clubhouse since a hurricane is a notable issue. One long-term resident mentions the prolonged absence of this amenity, highlighting the inconvenience of living without it. The same reviewer also recalls issues with the pool, experiencing a period without it after the hurricane and then a pool that was "too hot to enjoy most of the summer." These points suggest potential challenges in the park's recovery from natural events and in maintaining its amenities for the enjoyment of the guests. The reviewer also echoes the sentiment regarding management changes, noting that things have become "tense" since the departure of a former manager named Robin, who was described as "friendly and very easy to work with." This reinforces the concern about a decline in management quality and its impact on the residents' experience.
Considering these varied perspectives, the environment of Sweet Water RV Park appears to be generally clean and peaceful, with level lots that are appreciated by guests. The presence of full hookups adds to the convenience for RVers. However, the recent feedback introduces concerns about potential overcrowding due to space restrictions, the unpleasant issue of unmanaged pet waste, and the ongoing closure of the clubhouse. The natural surroundings of Moneta, Virginia, with its proximity to Smith Mountain Lake, likely contribute to the appeal of the location, but the internal environment of the RV park is being affected by these emerging issues.
In terms of services, Sweet Water RV Park offers full hookups, a convenient and spotless laundry facility, and, according to one positive review, onsite propane filling provided by the hosts. The earlier positive feedback also highlights excellent communication with guests. However, the more recent reviews suggest a potential decline in the quality of management services, with complaints about unfriendliness and a lack of accommodation regarding space. The prolonged closure of the clubhouse also indicates a lapse in the provision of a key amenity that might typically be expected in an RV park.
Features of Sweet Water RV Park mentioned in the reviews include level lots, a laundry site, and the now-unavailable clubhouse and intermittently problematic pool. The fact that the hosts, Shannon, John & Emmett, were mentioned by name in a positive context suggests a personal touch and engagement with guests, at least in the past. However, the recent negative feedback about management changes implies that this personal touch may have diminished or been replaced by a less guest-oriented approach.
No specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. Individuals interested in staying at Sweet Water RV Park would need to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, availability, any special offers, and the status of the clubhouse and pool.
For those searching under "RV Parks Near Me" in the Moneta, VA area, Sweet Water RV Park presents a complex picture. While past guests have praised its cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere, and hospitable hosts, more recent feedback indicates potential concerns regarding changes in management, space restrictions, unmanaged pet waste, and the prolonged unavailability of amenities like the clubhouse. Prospective guests should carefully consider these contrasting experiences and perhaps seek more up-to-date information before making a decision. Contacting the park directly to inquire about the current management policies, pet waste management, the status of the clubhouse and pool, and any recent changes to site configurations would be prudent.
In conclusion, Sweet Water RV Park in Moneta, VA, offers a location with clean, level lots and full hookups, and has historically been known for its friendly hosts and good communication. However, recent reviews point to potential challenges related to a change in management style, leading to concerns about space allocation and friendliness, as well as ongoing issues with unmanaged pet waste and the prolonged closure of the clubhouse. For those considering a stay here based on their search under "RV Parks Near Me," it is recommended to gather current information from the park management to assess whether the current conditions align with their expectations for a pleasant and wholesome RV park experience.

Mar 03, 2025 · SamI love living here, but things have recently changed since Milton. We used to have a lovely site for our cargo van that included room to park our truck with it. The management has become very unfriendly and restricted the space we use for storage. They changed our space and made it very cramped. We live on a very tight street and parking is almost impossible to fit our truck on or even back into our space.Plus there are many dog owners in our park. Most of them are responsible like we are. But there are those who walk their dogs and leave the waste all over the park. I carry extra bags to pick up my own dogs’ waste, but find I am picking up extra on almost every walk. It is disgusting. Please carry bags and pick up your waste. I want to love living here.We still have no clubhouse open since the hurricane. I lived without a pool for a couple of months after the hurricane, lived without a pool that was too hot to enjoy most of the summer and things have gotten tense with management since we lost a former one named Robin. She was friendly and very easy to work with, but new management is not. I would love to go back to enjoying living here again.
Dec 07, 2024 · Donna BooneThe owner was amazing! There was an issue with someone's dogs unleashed, and the owner immediately took care of it. It's a beautiful and well maintained campground. Since my original review, we have stayed here again and really like how quiet it is.
Mar 31, 2025 · Howell's HollowAs a long term camper they have been wonderful to work with. Place is super clean and everyone is respectful of each other.
Mar 21, 2025 · Kayla TaylorGreat location and even better service! Stayed here with family for an extended weekend and was so impressed with how clean the whole campground was. They have 3 very well kept dog parks on the property. Each site is clean and very well maintained. I will be back for sure!
