This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the environment, services, and features of Lily Pond Cabin, drawing directly from the experiences shared by those who have stayed there.
The environment surrounding Lily Pond Cabin is clearly a highlight, described by one guest as having "views here can't be beat." The cabin boasts a setting where you have "the whole pond pretty much to yourself," suggesting a high degree of privacy and a direct connection to the water. The presence of a lily pond implies a serene and potentially wildlife-rich environment, with the possibility of observing aquatic plants and animals. The approach to the cabin involves a "nice long walk in trail," indicating a degree of seclusion and immersion in nature from the moment you begin your stay. Along this trail, there is a "bench overlooking the pond" and another "on the bridge you cross right before you are at the cabin," providing dedicated spots to pause and appreciate the natural beauty. While "the trail does go right through the site, between the deck and fire pit," it "doesn't seem to be overly busy," suggesting that while others may pass by, it doesn't significantly detract from the privacy and peacefulness of the cabin area. The log book within the cabin mentions a "spring across the pond you can boat/canoe to," further emphasizing the aquatic environment and opportunities for exploration. Despite expectations of significant insect activity following rain, one visitor was pleasantly surprised that the bugs were "surprisingly not bad at all," though this may vary depending on the time of year and weather conditions. The overall environment of Lily Pond Cabin is one of natural beauty, tranquility, and a sense of being truly away from it all.
In terms of services and amenities, Lily Pond Cabin offers a rustic yet well-equipped experience. The cabin itself is described as "open, airy and bright," suggesting a comfortable and inviting interior space. It features "4 bunks," providing sleeping arrangements for small groups or families. The positive feedback regarding cleanliness ("Very clean (thanks to all the diligent visitors actually cleaning up after themselves)") suggests a culture of respect and shared responsibility among guests. The outhouse is "set back behind the cabin," offering a degree of privacy, though its proximity to the trail suggests it may be heavily used. While there was a mention in the log book of "mouse issues" in the past, one recent visitor reported not seeing or hearing any mice, indicating that this may no longer be a significant problem. Guests are encouraged to "Keep it clean and Pay it forward!" as previous visitors left "a bunch of dry wood," a thoughtful gesture that enhances the experience for those who follow.
The features of Lily Pond Cabin are designed to maximize the enjoyment of its unique setting. The direct access to Lily Pond with a provided boat and canoe is a standout feature, offering opportunities for paddling, fishing (though not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, a pond often supports fish), and reaching the spring on the other side. The surrounding "nice long walk in trail" caters to those who enjoy hiking and exploring the woods. The wood stove provides both warmth and a focal point for the cabin experience. The availability of cookware allows for self-catering, enhancing the independence of the stay. The trail journal adds a personal touch and a sense of connection to past visitors. Lily Pond Cabin Reviews
I was completely in love with this cabin! It is so open, airy and bright. Very clean (thanks to all the diligent visitors actually cleaning up after themselves). The views here can't be beat. You have the whole pond pretty much to yourself. The trail does go right through the site, between the deck and fire pit, but doesn't seem to be overly busy. There is a bench overlooking the pond, and another on the bridge you cross right before you are at the cabin. The log book in the cabin says there is a spring across the pond you can boat/canoe to (both available to you, as well as oars/lifejackets in the cabin). I fully expected the bugs to be insane considering all the rain right before we got there and they were surprisingly not bad at all. The book also said that there were mouse issues with this cabin, however we didn't see or hear one single mouse. The outhouse is set back behind the cabin and you can tell with it being so close to a trail, it is for sure a heavily used outhouse. We will be back to this place for sure and would definitely consider this hike in, even with my two kids!
Jun 25, 2021 · Sheena MarcoVery Beautiful, nice long walk in trail opens to the Lilly Pond. The cabin is awesome, complete with rustic cookware, 4 bunks, very toasty wood stove, and trail journal for everyone to add to. I cannot wait to get back here and spend more time on the trails. The people who stayed before us left us with a bunch of dry wood, which was awesome because were soaked head to toe! Keep it clean and Pay it forward!
