Boulder Pass Campground Introduce
Welcome to Boulder Pass Campground, a backcountry camping area located in the stunning region of West Glacier, Montana, 59936, USA. You can reach them at (702) 293-8906 or +1 702-293-8906. For local users searching for "camping near me" who are drawn to more remote and primitive camping experiences within the vicinity of Glacier National Park, Boulder Pass Campground offers a unique setting. This introduction will detail the environment, limited services, and features based on the available user reviews to help you understand what to expect from this backcountry site.
As a backcountry campground, Boulder Pass is primarily accessible by hiking and caters to those seeking a more self-sufficient camping experience away from developed facilities. When considering "camping near me," it's important to recognize that Boulder Pass Campground will not offer the amenities typically found in front-country campgrounds. The reviews provide some insight into the nature of this site. One visitor described it as "open and very exposed," but also noted that it is "so pretty here," even after experiencing another location called Hole In The Wall. This suggests that while the terrain might lack significant natural cover, the scenic beauty of the area is a notable feature.
The environment around Boulder Pass Campground is characterized by its openness and exposure. The "pretty" aspect mentioned by a reviewer likely refers to the surrounding natural landscapes, which in the West Glacier area, are typically mountainous, with potential views of peaks, valleys, and possibly water features. The presence of "water nearby" is also mentioned, which is a significant advantage for any backcountry campsite, providing a potential source for hydration (with appropriate treatment). However, the specific type and accessibility of this water source are not detailed.
In terms of services, backcountry campgrounds generally have very limited facilities. One review mentions that "the toilet is open latrine style." This indicates a primitive sanitation arrangement, which is typical for backcountry sites. Campers should be prepared for the absence of flush toilets, running water, and other common campground amenities. Therefore, self-sufficiency in terms of water, food, shelter, and waste management is essential when planning a trip to Boulder Pass Campground.
The primary "feature" of Boulder Pass Campground is its location within a potentially scenic area of West Glacier, offering a more secluded and immersive natural experience. The fact that one reviewer who had stayed at "Hole In The Wall" was still "really amazed by this place" suggests that Boulder Pass has its own unique appeal, possibly related to expansive views or a particular aspect of the landscape. However, the exact nature of this appeal is not elaborated upon.
One particularly brief review simply states, "This is a great place to take a dump!" While this is not descriptive of the overall camping experience, it does confirm the presence of some form of toilet facility, albeit a primitive one (the open latrine mentioned in the other review). This reinforces the understanding that Boulder Pass Campground offers only basic amenities.
Given that Boulder Pass Campground is a backcountry site likely within or near Glacier National Park, information regarding permits and regulations would be crucial for anyone planning to camp there. Backcountry camping in such areas often requires permits to manage visitor impact and ensure safety. To obtain information on permit requirements, fees (if any), and specific regulations for Boulder Pass Campground, it is recommended to consult the official website of Glacier National Park or contact the park's visitor center. There is no promotional information available from the provided reviews, as they are focused on personal experiences at the campsite.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who are experienced backpackers or hikers seeking a backcountry camping option in the West Glacier area, Boulder Pass Campground presents a possibility. The reviews suggest a location with scenic beauty, despite being open and exposed, and the presence of a nearby water source. However, campers must be prepared for primitive conditions, including an open latrine toilet, and the need for complete self-sufficiency. Understanding and adhering to any permit requirements from Glacier National Park is also essential.
In conclusion, Boulder Pass Campground in West Glacier, MT, offers a backcountry camping experience characterized by its open and exposed environment, yet described as "pretty." It has a water source nearby and a primitive open latrine toilet. For those seeking a more rugged and remote "camping near me" option in the Glacier area, Boulder Pass Campground could be considered, provided they are well-prepared for backcountry conditions and have obtained any necessary permits from Glacier National Park. Further information regarding permits and specific location details should be sought from the National Park authorities.

Boulder Pass Campground Reviews
This campsite was a surprise for me. I had heard that it was open and very exposed, which it is, but still it is so pretty here. Even after staying at Hole In The Wall I was still really amazed by this place. There is water nearby and the toilet is open latrine style.
