Bridalveil Creek Campground Introduce
For outdoor enthusiasts utilizing the "Camping Near Me" platform to find a peaceful and authentic wilderness experience within Yosemite National Park, Bridalveil Creek Campground offers a distinctive alternative to the bustling Yosemite Valley. Located at an elevation of 7,200 feet (2,200m) off Glacier Point Road, approximately 26 miles from Yosemite Valley, this campground provides a serene high-country base camp for exploring the park's wonders. Its address is generally listed as Yosemite National Park Rd, TUOLUMNE MEADOWS, CA 95389, USA, though it's important to note its specific location off Glacier Point Road, rather than directly in Tuolumne Meadows.
Bridalveil Creek Campground is nestled in a beautiful forest of red fir and lodgepole pine, offering a pleasant combination of sun and shade. The area also features vanilla-scented Jeffrey pine and picturesque western Juniper, adding to the natural beauty. Through the trees, campers can catch glimpses of Yosemite's rugged granite peaks. The gentle, refreshing Bridalveil Creek flows near the site, contributing to the tranquil atmosphere. This higher elevation means that temperatures are significantly cooler overnight compared to Yosemite Valley, which can be a welcome relief during warm summer months. The campground is strategically located about 7 miles west of Glacier Point (approximately 20 minutes away) and 9 miles east of the Wawona Road turnoff. Glacier Point offers spectacular, sweeping views of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Vernal and Nevada Falls, and Clouds Rest, making Bridalveil Creek an excellent base for visiting this iconic viewpoint. Numerous hiking trails are accessible directly from or along Glacier Point Road, providing a range of options from easy strolls to strenuous treks. These include popular trails like the 4-Mile Trail, Panorama Trail, Taft Point, Sentinel Dome, and Ostrander Lake. Being outside the direct bustle of Yosemite Valley, Bridalveil Creek offers a more secluded and peaceful camping experience, appealing to those who prefer less crowded environments. However, it's essential to note that the Glacier Point Road is seasonal, typically opening from sometime mid-July and closing in early September due to snow, making the campground only accessible during these months.
Bridalveil Creek Campground offers family, group, and horse campsites, making it versatile for various camping needs. It has approximately 110 individual campsites, 2 group campsites (which do not allow RVs or trailers), and 3 equestrian campsites (requiring a horse to camp). The campground accommodates tents, RVs up to 35 feet, and trailers up to 24 feet. Key services and features include:
- Campsite Amenities: Each campsite provides a picnic table, a fire ring for campfires (campfires are allowed but must be monitored at all times), and a metal bear-proof food storage locker (typically 33″ deep x 45″ wide x 18″ high). Proper food storage is strictly enforced due to active bear populations in Yosemite National Park.
- Restroom Facilities: The campground is equipped with clean restrooms featuring flush toilets, and potable drinking water is readily available. Reviews specifically note "Plenty of toilet paper" and "Drinkable water also available," indicating well-maintained facilities.
- Ranger Presence: Campers have praised the "Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable," which contributes to a positive and informative camping experience.
- Accessibility: The campground features paved roads and parking spurs, making it accessible for various vehicle types. However, there is no cellular reception (ATT and T-Mobile are specifically mentioned as having no service) and no internet connectivity or public phone at Bridalveil Creek, providing a true opportunity to disconnect.
- No Hookups or Showers: Like most campgrounds in Yosemite, Bridalveil Creek does not offer individual electric, water, or sewer hook-ups at campsites. There are also no showers directly at the campground, but showers are available for a fee at Curry Village (formerly Half Dome Village) and Housekeeping Camp in Yosemite Valley (a 45-minute drive away).
- Dump Station: There is no dump station on-site at Bridalveil Creek; the nearest dump stations are in Yosemite Valley (Upper Pines Campground) or near Wawona Campground (seasonal).
Bridalveil Creek Campground is promoted as a "great location if you don't want to stay in the valley," appealing to those seeking a quieter, higher-elevation experience in Yosemite. Its proximity to Glacier Point and numerous trailheads on Glacier Point Road is a significant draw. The campground is also highlighted for its cleanliness and the helpfulness of its rangers. The positive feedback, including "We will definitely be staying here again," serves as strong promotion. Bridalveil Creek is particularly favored by those interested in hiking the high-country trails or enjoying the views from Glacier Point without the intense crowds of Yosemite Valley. Reservations are required for all campsites at Bridalveil Creek, and they are available by advanced reservation only through Recreation.gov. Reservations are highly competitive due to the campground's popularity and limited operating season (typically mid-July through early September, exact dates vary with snowmelt and road opening). They are released five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 AM Pacific Time. Group and horse sites also require advance reservations, which can be made online or by calling 877-444-6777. The phone number for campground inquiries is (209) 375-9535 or +1 209-375-9535. The National Park Service manages the campground, and visitors must also pay the park entrance fee upon arrival, although a camping reservation exempts them from any day-use reservation requirements that may be in effect for park entry during certain periods. It is advisable to print or download reservation confirmations prior to arrival due to the lack of cell service at the entrance stations.
The provided customer reviews offer valuable insights into the camper experience at Bridalveil Creek. Positive aspects include the "great location if you don't want to stay in the valley," the helpful and knowledgeable rangers, the cleanliness of the campground, and the ample size of the bear lockers. The presence of clean flush toilets with "Plenty of toilet paper" and "Drinkable water" are specific comforts noted. However, campers should be prepared for the significant temperature drop overnight due to the 7,200-foot elevation, necessitating warm clothing. The complete lack of cellular reception (ATT and T-Mobile confirmed no service) means visitors will be truly off-grid, which can be a pro for some but a con for others requiring connectivity. While campfires are allowed, they require constant monitoring, a standard but important reminder for wilderness camping. The varying campsite sizes, accommodating from one vehicle and one tent to two cars and tents, means campers should carefully select their site type when reserving to ensure it fits their equipment. Overall, Bridalveil Creek Campground is highly recommended for those seeking a quieter, high-elevation camping experience in Yosemite with excellent access to Glacier Point and its surrounding trails, provided they are prepared for cooler temperatures and no cell service.

Bridalveil Creek Campground Reviews
This was our first time staying here, and we loved it. Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Bear lockers are very big, and the campground is very clean. It is a great location if you don't want to stay in the valley. We will definitely be staying here again.
Aug 19, 2024 · rani kurtzAbout 20min away from Glacier Point. Clean restroom with flash toilet. Plenty of toilet paper. Drinkable water also available. Various campsite sizes; some are good for 2 cars and tents; others are one vehicle and one tent only. Temperature drops significantly over night because of the 6000ft elevation. Camp fire allowed but need to be monitored at all times. No cellular reception ( ATT and Tmobile)
Aug 22, 2024 · Janice ChenGood campground! Really nice launchpad for exploring Glacier Point area. No showers, but chill vibe. Well kept. Flush toilets (great, but limit the season up here).
Sep 08, 2024 · Heather PetersonThe sites are pretty. Some are surrounded by granite boulders and trees but some are close together and can get noise. Great campground as a base to explore Yosemite valley, Mariposa grove and Glacier point.
Aug 08, 2024 · Ann BerryWe had an amazing time camping at this campground. The rangers were attentive and educational without being overbearing or repetitive. The bear boxes are incredibly spacious and easy to use. Our site and fire pit was well maintained and clean when we arrived. We will be back to camp again soon!
