The environment at Broken Wheel Campground is described as featuring "nice wooded sites," suggesting a camping experience surrounded by trees, offering shade and a natural ambiance. This type of environment is often preferred by campers seeking a more traditional outdoor feel and a connection with nature. The presence of trees can also contribute to a sense of privacy between campsites. The campground's location in Weston, West Virginia, places it within a region known for its scenic beauty and rolling hills, further enhancing the potential for a pleasant natural setting. The proximity to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, as noted by one reviewer, indicates that the campground is situated within an area that may have historical or unique local attractions nearby, adding another dimension to a camping trip.
In terms of services, Broken Wheel Campground offers practical amenities for a comfortable stay. A significant advantage highlighted in the reviews is that "the campsites have water and electric hook ups." These hookups are essential for many modern campers, particularly those with RVs or those who appreciate having access to electricity for charging devices and running appliances, as well as a direct water supply at their site. The availability of these amenities suggests that Broken Wheel Campground caters to a range of camping styles, from tent campers who might appreciate the convenience of nearby electric outlets to RVers seeking full or partial hookups. The staff at the campground is also mentioned as being "friendly," which contributes positively to the overall guest experience, making visitors feel welcome and providing assistance when needed.
The features of Broken Wheel Campground include the well-equipped campsites with water and electric hookups, making it a convenient option for various types of campers. The wooded environment provides a natural and potentially shaded camping experience. The friendly staff is another notable feature, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere of the campground. Additionally, its close proximity to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum offers a unique point of interest for those looking to explore local attractions during their camping trip. While one reviewer's comment about "tons of little boys there" is subjective and may not be relevant to all campers, it could be a consideration for families with children or those seeking a quieter environment.
One area for potential improvement, as pointed out by a reviewer, is the upkeep of the restrooms. The complaint that "some of the doors were missing locks or broken" suggests that the restroom facilities might need attention to ensure the privacy and security of users. While this is the only specific negative feedback regarding the facilities, it is an important aspect for potential campers to consider. However, the reviewer still stated that they "would recommend staying here," indicating that the positive aspects of the campground, such as the wooded sites and hookups, outweigh this concern for them.
Currently, there is no explicit promotional information available in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to detail any special offers, discounts, or packages that Broken Wheel Campground might be offering. Local users interested in staying here would need to contact the campground directly to inquire about pricing, availability, and any current promotions. The primary appeal of Broken Wheel Campground appears to be its combination of a pleasant wooded environment, the convenience of water and electric hookups at the campsites, and its friendly service, along with its proximity to local attractions.
In conclusion, Broken Wheel Campground in Weston, West Virginia, offers a "cute little campground" experience with the advantage of wooded campsites and water and electric hookups. The friendly staff contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, and its location provides easy access to local points of interest like the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Broken Wheel Campground Reviews
This is a cute little campground. The campsites have water and electric hook ups. The are nice wooded sites and the staff is friendly. It was super close to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. My only complaint is that the restrooms could use a little up keep. Some of the doors were missing locks or broken.I would recommend staying here.

May 01, 2025 · BRAXTON BRAGGStayed a night with my family (2 adults and 3 kids ages 9 years, 18 months, and 6 months) and our Golden doodle. Had an after-hours check-in, but it was super easy and convenient. Quiet family-friendly camp ground that allows single nights. Also costs a fraction of the price of the nearby resort camp ground that requires multiple nights and is booked well in advance. Highly recommended, and we will be returning!
Jun 24, 2023 · Dozer KnottsWe only stayed here for 1 very short night. We arrived after dark and left before the store opened in the morning. (Just needed somewhere to crash on our way through and this was very conveniently located just off the highway) We stayed in a non-electric tent site, but never pitched our tent. We just folded the back seats down and slept on our air mattress in the back. The road noise may have been a bit bothersome in a tent, but we were fine. The showers were nice and hot. Clean bath house / bathrooms. The sites all had picnic tables, fire rings and trash cans.
Aug 20, 2023 · Wendy StapleyNice campground, didn't explore it too much, so I don't know how big it is.But, it was really quiet and only saw a few people in the RV area. The shower building was dated, but everything worked. The general store had an abundance of everything camping related.Plenty of wildlife with deer, raccoons, and some rabbits running around the playground area.
