This campground is particularly popular among off-roading communities, offering direct access to a network of trails that cater to various skill levels and vehicle types.
The environment at Browns Camp is characterized by its forested setting within the expansive Tillamook State Forest. Campers can expect to be surrounded by the natural beauty of Oregon's woodlands, providing a scenic backdrop for their stay. While the reviews highlight the off-roading trails as a primary attraction, the campground itself offers a more rustic and natural ambiance. The mention of "dry camping" indicates that campsites typically do not have direct hookups for water, electricity, or sewer, emphasizing a more self-sufficient camping style. However, the availability of toilets and a water pump for potable water ensures that basic needs are met, adding a level of convenience to the otherwise primitive camping experience. The surrounding forest provides shade and a sense of immersion in nature, contributing to a genuine outdoor escape.
The services at Browns Camp are geared towards supporting a comfortable yet adventurous camping experience. The provision of toilets is a significant amenity for dry camping, offering a more sanitary alternative to backcountry options. While specific details about the number of campsites or their layout are not provided, the positive reviews suggest that there are "good camping spots" available. Given the popularity among off-roaders, it's likely that campsites are spacious enough to accommodate vehicles and camping setups. It's important to note that "dry camping" typically requires campers to bring their own power sources (like generators or solar panels) and manage their water and waste responsibly.
The standout feature of Browns Camp is undoubtedly its access to "fantastic" off-roading trails. Reviews from actual users rave about the variety and quality of these trails, catering to a range of vehicles from ATVs and motorcycles to Jeeps and trucks. The trails are described as "challenging" and offering "amazing views," suggesting a thrilling and rewarding experience for off-road enthusiasts. The welcoming atmosphere among the off-roading community is also highlighted, with one reviewer mentioning a Jeep club that allowed them to join their run. This sense of camaraderie can enhance the overall experience for those new to the area or the sport. The family-friendly aspect mentioned in a review indicates that while adventure is a key draw, the campground also welcomes families looking to enjoy the outdoors and perhaps participate in less intense trail activities or simply enjoy the camping environment. Browns Camp Reviews
Good camping spots, it's all dry camping but they have toilets and there's a water pump for potable water. The off roading trails and views are fantastic.
Nov 10, 2024 · TJ HansenWe drove the trails in my 88Toyota and a did a few rock crawls. Lots of Jeeps( a club that let us run with them in our Toyo) and family friendly. Everyone around us followed the distance rules. The views off some of the trails are amazing. Challenging. Great time.
Mar 30, 2025 · Jerry HartWe went to have fun with ATV's. It's a good place for that activity. You can pick gravel roads or trails that are barely passable and everything in-between. Depending on which route you take you can end up at a spot that overlooks the entire valley. Beautiful! Because there are so many trails it's easy to get lost. Best to get a map ahead of time.
Aug 12, 2024 · Gary DennisAbsolutely fantastic area for riding quads, side by side, 4 wheelers and bikes. Numerous trails for beginner to advanced. We are pretty much amateurs, so we stick mostly to the beginner trails but also find some of the intermediate trails to be fun and a little challenging. There are pay sites with toilets, water, and garbage cans. There are also some dispersed camp areas that are free. There are some areas with creeks alongside the camping area. Quite a few day use areas as well. All in all, love this place. Highly recommended. Oh, and there is also a beginners riding area that is just a round riding spot.
May 17, 2023 · Rick CannonI love coming here. Though it is an active logging area so sometimes it looks a bit depressing when all the trees are cut. The trails range from easy to difficult, and I enjoy doing all types. I recommend the difficult trails to be experienced drivers off road.
