Buckley Park Campground Introduce
For local residents and travelers seeking a convenient and welcoming camping experience within the 'camping near me' category, Buckley Park Campground, located at 10 Main St, Stromsburg, NE 68666, USA, presents an intriguing option. This campground, reachable by phone at (402) 764-8228 or mobile at +1 402-764-8228, offers a unique donation-based approach to camping, fostering a sense of community and trust. While specific details might be limited due to its nature, the available customer reviews provide valuable insights into its environment, services, and features, allowing local users to make an informed decision.
The environment of Buckley Park Campground appears to be that of a well-maintained and accessible small-town park. One reviewer described it as an "awesome little spot" and "beautiful, clean campground," suggesting a pleasant and tidy atmosphere. The presence of a "great playground" indicates that the campground is family-friendly and offers recreational opportunities for children. The mention of "plenty of fat squirrels running around" hints at a mature landscape with trees and wildlife, adding to the natural charm of the location. Additionally, the reviewer noted "a lot of area to walk around and stretch your legs," suggesting that the campground is spacious enough to allow for leisurely strolls and outdoor activities within the park setting.
However, it's important to note a potential environmental factor mentioned by one reviewer regarding a significant influx of flies. This seems to have been an isolated incident, but it highlights that natural environments can sometimes experience temporary issues with insects. Local users might want to consider seasonal factors or recent conditions when planning their visit, although this particular review suggests the issue might have been short-lived. Despite this, the overall impression from the reviews points towards a generally clean and enjoyable outdoor environment.
In terms of services, Buckley Park Campground offers essential amenities for both RV and tent campers. One reviewer who stayed at the end of November mentioned having access to power, which is a significant benefit for RVers needing to run appliances and maintain battery charge. The campground also provides "working water and a dump station," further catering to the needs of RV travelers. This suggests that even during potentially off-peak seasons, essential services for self-contained units are available. Another reviewer praised the "nice, clean bathrooms," indicating that restroom facilities are generally well-maintained and a positive aspect of the campground during operational periods.
It's worth noting that the availability of some amenities, such as bathrooms, might be seasonal, as indicated by the reviewer who stayed in late November when they were closed. Local users planning a visit during colder months should confirm the availability of all desired amenities beforehand by contacting the provided phone numbers. The donation-based system itself can be considered a unique service, relying on the goodwill of campers to contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of the campground. This system often fosters a sense of community and can make camping more accessible.
The features of Buckley Park Campground extend beyond the basic amenities. The presence of a "great playground" is a significant feature for families with children, providing a dedicated space for play and recreation. The ample "area to walk around and stretch your legs" suggests that the park setting is conducive to outdoor enjoyment beyond just the campsite. The fact that it's described as a "hidden treasure" implies a sense of discovery and perhaps a quieter, less crowded atmosphere compared to larger, more commercial campgrounds. The location in Stromsburg might also offer proximity to local attractions or services within the town, although this is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews.
One notable feature mentioned is the campground's proximity to train tracks. While one reviewer stated that it "didn't bother me," others might be more sensitive to train noise. Local users who are light sleepers might want to consider this potential factor when choosing their campsite within Buckley Park, if there are options available. However, the reviewer's positive overall experience despite the train noise suggests that it might not be a significant deterrent for many.
As a donation-based campground, traditional "promotional information" in the form of discounts or packages is unlikely. Instead, the inherent promotion is the affordability and community-driven nature of the park. The positive reviews themselves serve as a form of promotion, highlighting the clean facilities, pleasant environment, and essential services offered. Local users might find the donation system appealing, as it allows them to contribute based on their experience and ability. Supporting such a campground can help ensure its continued availability for the community and travelers passing through Stromsburg.
For local users searching for 'camping near me' in Stromsburg, Nebraska, or those passing through the area, Buckley Park Campground offers a unique and potentially very affordable option. The reviews suggest a clean and well-maintained environment with essential services like power, water, and a dump station, as well as family-friendly features like a playground and ample walking space. While the proximity to train tracks is something to be aware of, it did not detract from one reviewer's positive experience. The donation-based system relies on the generosity of its visitors, making it an accessible option for many. It is advisable for local users planning a visit, especially during off-peak seasons, to contact the provided phone numbers to confirm the availability of specific amenities and to understand any guidelines related to donations. Buckley Park Campground appears to be a welcoming "little spot" that could be a great choice for your next local camping adventure.

Buckley Park Campground Reviews
What an awesome little spot. I was there at the end of November, waiting out some bad weather when I stumbled upon this hidden treasure. Although nothing was open (bathrooms and other amenities), I was fully self-contained and grateful that they had power to plug into. The campground also offers working water and a dump station. Despite being next to the train tracks, it didn't bother me—I was just thankful to have a place to stay over. It's a donation-based campground, there's a little box by the entrance, so I stuffed some money in an envelope and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Plenty of fat squirrels were running around, and there's a lot of area to walk around and stretch your legs.
Nov 25, 2023 · Arron MBeautiful, clean campground with nice, clean bathrooms & great playground. Not a soul around except one large equipment operator in a tent. But I had to leave in a big hurry when a million flies took up residence in my car! Got out of there fast, raced down the highway at 65mph with windows down - wildly shaking a t-shirt trying to get rid of them. Drove 25 miles & still had 100 on the ceiling of my car@ Never experienced anything like it. Tomorrow they all leave or die!
