Caddo Drive Campground Introduce
For local residents and travelers seeking "camping near me" with picturesque lake views in the Bismarck, Arkansas area, Caddo Drive Campground, located on Lakefront Dr, Bismarck, AR 71929, USA, offers a Corps of Engineers (COE) managed camping experience. The campground is praised for its scenic location overlooking a lake, providing a potentially beautiful backdrop for a getaway. However, recent customer reviews also highlight some important considerations regarding electrical service and site conditions that prospective visitors should be aware of.
The environment at Caddo Drive Campground is a significant draw, with reviewers consistently mentioning the "great views of the lake" and "180-degree views of the lake" from the park. This suggests that many campsites likely offer stunning panoramic vistas of the water, creating a serene and visually appealing camping setting. The campground's location on Lakefront Drive further emphasizes its proximity to the water, potentially offering opportunities for lakeside activities and enjoyment of the natural surroundings. The beauty of COE campgrounds often lies in their prime locations near well-maintained natural resources, and Caddo Drive Campground appears to capitalize on its lakeside setting to provide a scenic retreat for campers.
In terms of services, the information gleaned from the reviews provides a mixed picture. While one reviewer noted that the "bathroom and showers looked clean," they did not confirm the availability of hot water in the showers or how the facilities were illuminated due to a lack of visible light switches. This suggests that while basic hygiene facilities are present, their functionality might be somewhat uncertain. More concerning are the reported issues with the electrical service at the campsites. One reviewer with a 30’ travel trailer experienced a complete lack of power at their initially reserved 50-amp site (site 59). Upon moving to site 60, the 50-amp plug was found to be delivering excessively high voltage (over 130V), which could potentially damage RV electrical systems. The reviewer was only able to obtain power by switching to the 30-amp plug at site 60, although they later tripped the breaker, indicating that careful management of power consumption was necessary. These electrical issues are significant and should be a primary consideration for RV campers planning to stay at Caddo Drive Campground.
Several features of Caddo Drive Campground can be inferred from the reviews. The presence of both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical hookups at some sites suggests that the campground caters to a range of RV sizes and power needs, although the reliability of these connections appears to be inconsistent. The mention of a bathroom and shower facility indicates that basic amenities for personal hygiene are available. The beautiful lake views are a prominent natural feature that enhances the camping experience. However, one potential concern noted by a reviewer is the "drop off from the RV pad." They had to carefully position their RV to ensure safe exit in the dark, indicating that some campsites may have uneven terrain or significant drop-offs that could pose a safety hazard, particularly at night or for those with mobility issues.
The review also provides some insights into the accessibility of the campground. While the park itself is described as beautiful, the reviewer noted that their GPS took them through the country when coming from I-30. Upon leaving, they discovered that "many more services" were available at the next exit off I-30, suggesting that the campground might be slightly off the main highway and that access to amenities outside the park might require a short drive. The reviewer also cautioned against driving into the campground at night due to "very narrow" roads, which could be challenging for larger RVs to navigate in low light conditions. The need to exit the park to turn around with a 30’ travel trailer further emphasizes the potentially tight maneuvering spaces within the campground.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information provided for Caddo Drive Campground. As a COE campground, fees are typically modest, and discounts may be available for senior citizens or holders of the America the Beautiful Pass. To obtain the most accurate information on current rates, reservation procedures, and any applicable discounts, it is recommended to check the official recreation.gov website or contact the Corps of Engineers directly at the provided phone number. COE campgrounds often have specific policies regarding reservations, stay limits, and check-in/check-out procedures, so it is always best to verify these details before planning a visit.
In conclusion, for those searching for "camping near me" near Bismarck, AR, Caddo Drive Campground offers the significant advantage of beautiful lake views in a Corps of Engineers park setting. However, potential visitors, especially those with RVs, should be aware of the reported issues with the electrical service, including non-functional 50-amp hookups and excessively high voltage at some sites. While basic facilities like bathrooms and showers are available, their condition and functionality should be verified. The uneven terrain and narrow roads within the campground might also pose challenges, particularly for larger vehicles or nighttime arrivals. Despite these concerns, the scenic location and potentially lower fees may still appeal to some campers. It is strongly recommended to check recent reviews and contact the COE directly for the latest information on site availability, electrical service reliability, and any specific conditions or advisories before making a reservation at Caddo Drive Campground.

Caddo Drive Campground Reviews
Great views of the lake!
Apr 27, 2025 · Andy LoweWe stayed here on an overnight at one of our first COE campgrounds. With our 30’ travel trailer. We stayed in mid-November. The park is beautiful with 180 degree views of the lake. We used none of the facilities although the bathroom and showers looked clean, but do not know whether the water in the showers was hot. We weren’t sure how they were going to be lit since there were no switches for the lights. Our only problem with the campground was the difficulties we experienced with power. The site we had reserved (59) did not give any power to our RV surge protector on 50 amps. We moved to Site 60. Here the 50 amp plug was giving too high of voltage (over 130v). We switched to 30 amp plug and were able to get by with only 30 amps although we did forget we were on 30 amp and tripped the breaker. Coming from I 30, the GPS took us through the country. Getting back on I 30, we found many more services available at the next exit which we had never imagined were so close. One other concern was the drop off from the RV pad. We positioned our door as to not be able to get out of the RV safely in the dark. We are returning as we head back.
Nov 25, 2022 · Amy Watkins BarnardThis is a wonderful campground! Has a nice swimming beach. It's a little primitive, but that's far preferable to me!
Sep 07, 2020 · Heidilore “Heidi” WorthingtonWow! This place is amazing, beautiful, quiet…and only nine bucks a night with my Golden Access pass!
Dec 14, 2022 · Geni TheriaultWonderful campground. I’ve been coming here for decades. An old couple are now campground host, not friendly. Show me your papers! When you arrive, then they drive around looking at your camp. Drove by my camp 4 times really slow. Stopped and asked if my bicycle was electric! Nosy busybodies with nothing to do but harass campers I guess. One star because of the nosy busy body host. Otherwise 5 stars for the campground
