A Focus on Boat Storage and Lake Access
Based on available information, a primary feature of Caffrey Recreation Area appears to be its boat storage facilities. One reviewer specifically mentions it as a "beautiful dark to keep your boat stored in," highlighting the well-maintained and clean nature of the storage area. This suggests that for boat owners looking for a secure and convenient place to store their vessels near Lake Wallenpaupack, Caffrey Recreation Area could be a viable solution. The reviewer also expresses a sense of comfort and safety when visiting the area, regardless of the time of day or night.
The location of Caffrey Recreation Area directly on Lake Wallenpaupack provides immediate access to the lake's numerous recreational opportunities. Lake Wallenpaupack is described as an "amazing family place" and a great spot for friends to enjoy boating and other water-related activities. The reviewer notes a sense of community and helpfulness among boaters on the lake, with individuals being cautious and willing to assist each other, contributing to a feeling of safety and confidence while out on the water.
Considerations Regarding Crowds and Cleanliness
It's important to consider a contrasting review that mentions the area being "very busy with some unfriendly people." This suggests that during peak seasons or times, the recreation area and the lake itself might experience significant crowds, potentially impacting the overall experience for some visitors. Additionally, this reviewer noted that "the shore is pretty dirty," which could be a concern for those prioritizing a clean and pristine lakeside environment.
The Enduring Beauty of Lake Wallenpaupack
Despite the concerns raised about crowds and shore cleanliness, the second reviewer still acknowledges that "the lake is still beautiful." This highlights the inherent natural appeal of Lake Wallenpaupack, which remains a significant draw for visitors to the region. The beauty of the lake itself likely compensates for some of the less desirable aspects mentioned in the review.
Limited Information on Comprehensive Campground Amenities
The provided information and customer reviews primarily focus on boat storage and access to Lake Wallenpaupack. There is limited detail regarding traditional campground amenities such as designated campsites for tents or RVs, restroom facilities, picnic areas, or other services typically associated with a campground. Therefore, if you are primarily looking for a full-service campground experience with a range of amenities beyond boat storage and lake access, further inquiry with Caffrey Recreation Area may be necessary to determine if they offer such facilities.
Potential for Lakeside Activities
Given its location on Lake Wallenpaupack, it is reasonable to infer that visitors to Caffrey Recreation Area would have opportunities for various lake activities. These could include boating (as highlighted in the reviews), fishing, swimming, kayaking, and simply enjoying the scenic beauty of the lake. Lake Wallenpaupack is a large and popular recreational lake in Pennsylvania, known for its diverse activities and attractions.
Promotional Information and Why Consider Caffrey Recreation Area
For individuals specifically seeking "camping near me" with the primary need for boat storage and direct access to the recreational opportunities of Lake Wallenpaupack, Caffrey Recreation Area appears to be a well-regarded option for boat owners. The clean and secure boat storage facilities, coupled with the welcoming atmosphere reported by one reviewer regarding the lake community, could be significant advantages. The beauty of Lake Wallenpaupack itself is a major draw, offering a wide range of potential activities for families and groups.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the feedback regarding potential crowds and the cleanliness of the shore. If a pristine and less crowded environment is a top priority, it might be beneficial to explore other options around Lake Wallenpaupack or to visit during off-peak seasons. Additionally, those seeking comprehensive campground amenities beyond boat storage and lake access should directly inquire about the availability of such services at Caffrey Recreation Area.
In conclusion, Caffrey Recreation Area seems to cater particularly to those interested in boating on Lake Wallenpaupack and needing reliable boat storage. While the beauty of the lake is undeniable, potential visitors should weigh the positive feedback regarding boat storage and the lake community against the concerns about crowds and shore cleanliness expressed in another review. For more detailed information on camping facilities and availability, contacting Caffrey Recreation Area directly at (570) 226-4608 or +1 570-226-4608 is recommended to make an informed decision about your "camping near me" experience on Lake Wallenpaupack.

Caffrey Recreation Area Reviews
What a beautiful dark to keep your boat stored in. Very well taken care of and clean and I always feel comfortable coming here no matter what day or night time it is. Lake Wallenpaupack is an amazing family place to come bring your kids were a bunch of friends to come out on the boat and have a great time. Everybody is so very helpful of each other and cautious of every boat around. I have always felt safe and confident out on this lake that if I ever had a problem someone would be there right at my side to help me.
Jul 06, 2019 · JmihanzomVery busy with some unfriendly people. The shore is pretty dirty. However the lake is still beautiful.
Jul 25, 2019 · SabinaUsed the boat launch many times. On busy days it's well worth the $8 fee, compared to dealing with the nonsense at the state launch. Nice little store, boat launch well kept, bathrooms decent

Jul 18, 2024 · Heather LinehanI have been coming to caffrey campsite since I was born. It's was great time. When I became adult I started coming with my own family. However it's stated off great as we had rented a seasonally campsite then we couldn't use it all the time, so we started renting campsite on holiday weekends. The ownship changed and things started changing. We came with strictly family and would stay up sitting by the fire. The employee started coming down and complaining we were making to much noise at midnight, another camper had complained about there child sleeping. We had five children under the under of five all sleeping, none of which were awake. These campsite had been nothing but problems since they changed owners or employees. We paid for two sites with boats and jetskis. We spent thousands of dollars with this place of the years. However now it been nothing but problems. We couldn't laugh by a fire because they said we were to loud. This use to be a place to come have a drink and sit by a fire. We could relax and spent the day on the water. Now however it's became a place, where you have to be sleep by 10 or 11. You can't laugh or enjoy yourself no matter what money your are spending. I'm a veteran myself, I came up on a holiday weekend to enjoy it and it got ruined for no reason. After 30 years of coming here spending thousands of dollars, I no longer will be coming here. Also I will continue to tell everyone how terrible this place has become.
