Cages Bend Campground Introduce
Looking for a lakeside camping experience conveniently located near Nashville, Tennessee? Cages Bend Campground, situated at 1125 Benders Ferry Rd, Gallatin, TN 37066, USA, offers a unique opportunity to camp on the shores of a beautiful lake. For local users searching within the 'camping near me' category, Cages Bend provides a scenic retreat with spacious campsites, although potential visitors should be aware of certain infrastructure conditions and accessibility considerations based on recent customer reviews.
The environment of Cages Bend Campground is a significant draw, particularly its location directly on a lake. As one reviewer noted, it's a "Great location near Nashville, on a lake" and a "Beautiful small COE campground on the lake." This lakeside setting offers the potential for various water-based activities such as fishing, boating, and simply enjoying the tranquil views. The natural beauty of the lake and its surroundings likely contributes to a relaxing and enjoyable camping experience. While the reviews highlight the positive aspects of the location, it's important to consider the accessibility to this environment, as one review mentions that "Access roads are narrow and difficult - go slow." This suggests that navigating to the campground, especially with larger vehicles, requires caution and patience.
In terms of services and amenities, the reviews provide some insights. All campsites are equipped with water and electric hookups, which is a significant advantage for both RV and tent campers looking for some basic utilities. Additionally, RV sites are mentioned to have a fire pit, enhancing the traditional camping experience. However, it's important to note that sewer hookups are not available at the sites. The reviews also highlight a significant concern regarding the campground's infrastructure. One reviewer points out that the "Infrastructure at campground is in need of updating and repair - lots of crumbling asphalt." Another mentions that "The bathrooms are extremely dated, appear dirty, and have no handicapped toilets or showers." These comments suggest that while the basic utilities at the campsites are functional, the overall infrastructure, particularly the roads and bathroom facilities, may be in a state of disrepair and lack modern accessibility features. Potential campers should be prepared for these conditions.
Despite the infrastructure concerns, Cages Bend Campground boasts some appealing features. The campsites are described as "large and spacious," ensuring that campers are "not on top of neighbors," which contributes to a more private and comfortable experience. The "Nice views of lake" are also a significant feature, allowing many campsites to enjoy the scenic beauty of the waterfront. The fact that it's a "small COE campground" (Corps of Engineers) might also appeal to those who prefer campgrounds managed by federal agencies, often associated with well-maintained natural areas. However, one review notes that "The many sites can be challenging for larger rigs," reiterating the earlier point about narrow access roads and potentially tight maneuvering within the campground itself. Therefore, campers with larger RVs should carefully consider this aspect before booking.
Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional information for Cages Bend Campground. It's common for campgrounds, especially those managed by government entities like the Corps of Engineers, to have a set fee structure rather than frequent promotions. To inquire about any potential discounts for seniors, military personnel, or extended stays, it would be best to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (615) 824-4989 or +1 615-824-4989. You may also find information about fees and regulations on the official website of the Corps of Engineers or relevant booking platforms.
In summary, Cages Bend Campground offers a desirable lakeside location near Nashville with spacious campsites equipped with water and electric hookups. The natural environment and lake views are significant positive aspects. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with the aging infrastructure, particularly the roads and bathroom facilities, and the lack of sewer hookups. Additionally, those with larger RVs should exercise caution due to narrow access roads and potentially challenging site layouts. Despite these drawbacks, the spacious sites and beautiful lake setting might make Cages Bend Campground a worthwhile option for those seeking a more rustic and nature-focused camping experience near Nashville. It is recommended to contact the campground directly for the most current information on site availability, fees, and any specific regulations or advisories regarding access and facilities.

Cages Bend Campground Reviews
Great location near Nashville, on a lake. Access roads are narrow and difficult - go slow. Infrastructure at campground is in need of updating and repair - lots of crumbling asphalt. But sites are large and spacious, you are not on top of neighbors. Nice views of lake. All have water and electric, no sewer.
Apr 20, 2025 · Melissa JonesBeautiful small COE campground on the lake. The RV sites have water, electricity, and a fire pit. The many sites can be challenging for larger rigs. The bathrooms are extremely dated, appear dirty, and have no handicapped toilets or showers.
Apr 22, 2025 · Lori GregoryMy go-to for nearby camping. Cages is a small campground with 43 sites, so it can be difficult to secure a site at times. It is situated on Old Hickory Lake, and almost all of the sites have a good view of the lake. The shower houses could use some attention, but overall, it is a great place to camp.
Oct 19, 2024 · Sharon LangstonI hate to give this a low review because the staff and area is great. Although I paid for waterfront at 34 and it’s all woods in front - see pic. I just graduated at 53 with my Masters and after running my own sober living house, working two jobs and school as a single mother, I wanted to get away for some serenity and for three days was nothing but constant noise. Building docks and lawn mowing crew on third day. I realize things have to get done but bad timing for me. Bathrooms are awful and full of mold and bugs are terrible inside facilities. It is a beautiful place to come but stretch out maintenance.
