Calusa Campground Resort & Marina Introduce
If you are searching for "camping near me" and considering a location in the beautiful Florida Keys, Calusa Campground Resort & Marina, situated at 325 Calusa St, Key Largo, FL 33037, USA, is one option that may appear in your search. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the campground based on recent customer reviews found online, highlighting both potential positives and reported negatives to help local users make an informed decision.
Located in Key Largo, Florida, Calusa Campground Resort & Marina benefits from its prime location within the Florida Keys, an area renowned for its stunning natural environment, including beautiful waters, diverse marine life, and a tropical climate. The presence of a marina in its name suggests potential waterfront access and related amenities, which could be appealing to boating enthusiasts and those seeking water-based activities. The environment of Key Largo typically offers opportunities for fishing, diving, snorkeling, and enjoying the unique ecosystem of the Florida Keys. While the natural surroundings of Key Largo itself are undoubtedly attractive, the immediate environment within the campground, based on recent reviews, presents a mixed picture.
The services offered at Calusa Campground Resort & Marina likely include standard campground amenities such as RV sites and possibly tent camping areas. The presence of a marina suggests services related to boating, such as dockage, and potentially boat rentals or launching facilities. One reviewer mentioned "trailers for rent," indicating that the campground may also offer accommodation options beyond traditional RV sites. The fact that "most of the trailers are new" could be a positive aspect for those renting these units. However, the reviews raise concerns about the enforcement of campground rules and the consideration shown by some permanent residents towards other guests. Reports of loud music from "sunup to sundown" and excessive noise from certain individuals, including amplified speech, suggest a potential lack of adherence to quiet hours or general noise regulations. The issue of dogs running loose is also mentioned, indicating a possible lack of enforcement of leash rules, which could be a concern for the safety of both pets and other campers.
Features of Calusa Campground Resort & Marina likely include the RV sites with necessary hookups, the marina facilities, and the rental trailers. The cleanliness of the campground is mentioned as "fairly clean," which could be considered a positive aspect. However, this is juxtaposed with the negative experiences related to noise and loose pets. The presence of permanent residents is a notable feature, and according to the reviews, their behavior significantly impacts the experience of other campers. The loud music, amplified screaming, and unrestrained pets, reportedly stemming from at least one permanent resident, are major points of concern raised by multiple reviewers. The mention of an "antique car with a very loud buffer" further contributes to the reported noise issues, even extending beyond quiet hours without any apparent intervention. The availability of "summer rundown of sites for rent" suggests that the campground does cater to seasonal visitors, but the negative experiences seem to overshadow this aspect for the reviewers.
Based on the recent customer feedback, potential visitors searching for "camping near me" should be aware of significant issues reported at Calusa Campground Resort & Marina. The recurring themes of loud and persistent noise, attributed to at least one permanent resident, and the problem of dogs running loose without any apparent enforcement of rules, are serious concerns. These issues reportedly detract significantly from the peaceful enjoyment of the campground and have led reviewers to strongly recommend against staying there. The negative impact of the behavior of some permanent residents on the overall campground environment appears to be a critical factor based on the provided reviews.
Given the strong negative feedback regarding noise and rule enforcement, any potential promotional information would need to be weighed against these significant drawbacks. While the campground might offer attractive rates or amenities such as waterfront access, the reported lack of a peaceful environment and the potential safety concerns related to loose pets could outweigh these benefits for many campers seeking a relaxing "camping near me" experience. It is important to note that no specific promotional information was provided in the reviews, and the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly negative due to the issues mentioned.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Key Largo, it is crucial to consider the recent experiences reported by other campers at Calusa Campground Resort & Marina. The issues of loud noise at all hours, lack of enforcement of pet leash rules, and the negative impact of some permanent residents on the campground environment are significant concerns that potential visitors should be aware of. While the location in Key Largo and the presence of a marina might seem appealing, the reported lack of peace and quiet and the potential for disturbances could lead to a disappointing camping experience. It would be advisable to seek more recent reviews from various sources to ascertain if these issues have been addressed or if they persist. Contacting the campground directly to inquire about their policies on noise and pet control might also provide valuable insights before making a booking.
In conclusion, while Calusa Campground Resort & Marina is located in the desirable area of Key Largo and offers amenities such as a marina and rental trailers, recent customer reviews raise serious concerns about noise levels, the enforcement of campground rules, and the behavior of some permanent residents. These issues appear to significantly detract from the camping experience, leading to strong negative recommendations from reviewers. Local users searching for "camping near me" in Key Largo should carefully consider these reported issues and potentially seek alternative campgrounds that offer a more peaceful and regulated environment to ensure a more enjoyable stay in the Florida Keys.

Calusa Campground Resort & Marina Reviews
This could be a nice Campground if they enforce the rules and the permanent residence there considered everyone else. Loud music from sunup to sundown. Dogs running loose everywhere. Two little papillons across from us almost got run over. The owner goes out during the day and leaves them run all day leaves his music on all day so loud you can hear it down the street. It's a fairly clean Campground most of the trailers are new, summer rundown of sites for rent. Along with trailers for rent. I don't recommend this place at all because of the permanent residents run the place
Mar 04, 2025 · Rahn Monrea'LDefinitely definitely don’t go there. Site number 450 please very loud music all the time and he has a microphone that he screams into the microphone when he’s not doing that he’s screaming on the telephone with the music Blair and behind him. Besides that he has two dogs that he lets run loose constantly. No one does nothing about it. He seems to own the place and run the joint. He has a antique car with a very loud buffer. He even plays the music after quiet hour and no one cares stay away from this place.
Mar 16, 2025 · RonI stayed in a vacation rental. I don't know what's up with the other reviews but we had a wonderful time. Quiet convenient and beautiful. It's the keys I don't know what anybody can find to complain about.
Mar 22, 2025 · Sandra NelsonWe stayed here for almost a year. What I learned if you aren’t Cuban you aren’t welcomed here. You are treated differently and talked down to. They talk about in Spanish like you don’t know how to speak Spanish because you’re white. ( side note most people who visit the Key’s know Spanish). The homeowners and renters constantly clash. The pool was a no go for us. They always had beer, liquor, and wine in the pool by the time people got out it smelled like alcohol and the water would be cloudy and the next day almost green. The only thing this place has going for it is you can see manatees here, the occasional seahorses. The weekends and holidays are nightmares here. Kids in golf carts and by kids I mean 7-9 yr olds running out into moving traffic. Half the time the bathhouses are nasty. Most the time the stupid water is either too hot or too cold. The washers stop while washing same for dryers better to go do laundry in town. If you want a good place to stay I recommend the boardwalk in Homestead or go on down to Islamorada where they have everything and better taken care of campgrounds and beaches. I don’t recommend this place if you don’t want to be made feel less than human.
Mar 19, 2025 · FunTimesBe very skeptical when dealing with this company. We had to cancel due to a medical emergency and have been trying to get our refund for three months now. Classic run around here with multiple promises of reimbursement only turning into lies and deception. The whole outfit is one giant fraud! I don't know how these companies survive in todays world but then again I do...THEFT!
