Camp Helaman Hollow Introduce
Are you searching for exceptional "camping near me" in the scenic landscapes of Utah, particularly in the vicinity of Helper? Consider Camp Helaman Hollow, located south of Green's Canyon on UT-96, Helper, UT 84526, USA. Based on recent feedback from campers, Camp Helaman Hollow offers a unique setting with a mix of group-oriented facilities and natural attractions. While it appears particularly well-suited for medium-sized groups, it also boasts features that individual campers and smaller parties might find appealing.
Camp Helaman Hollow is situated in the vicinity of Helper, Utah, a region known for its rugged beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. Being south of Green's Canyon suggests a location surrounded by the natural terrain of central Utah. The environment is described by one reviewer as "beautifully shaded," indicating the presence of trees that provide cover, especially during the warmer months. This shade can be a significant advantage for tent campers, offering relief from the sun and helping to keep campsites cooler.
The campground seems to be equipped with facilities designed to accommodate larger groups. One reviewer who visited with a group of approximately 125 people mentioned a "pavilion and lodge" which they found to be "nice." The lodge also features an "outdoor patio," which is described as a "nice addition," suggesting a comfortable space for group gatherings or simply relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. These structures likely provide sheltered areas for activities, dining, or meetings, making Camp Helaman Hollow a potential venue for organized events or large family outings.
In terms of recreational features, one of the highlights mentioned by a camper is a "Zipline," which was described as a "hit." This suggests an exciting and adventurous activity available within the campground, likely appealing to a wide range of ages and adding a unique element to the camping experience. The presence of a zipline can be a significant draw for families and groups looking for more than just traditional camping.
Another notable natural feature of Camp Helaman Hollow is a "stream running through the campground," which was described as "amazing." The presence of a stream can greatly enhance the camping environment, providing a source of natural beauty, the soothing sound of flowing water, and potentially opportunities for gentle exploration or even wading, depending on its size and depth. This natural element likely contributes to a more immersive and enjoyable outdoor experience.
However, the reviews also provide some important considerations, particularly regarding group sizes and the availability of shaded areas for tents. One reviewer with a large group (around 125 people) noted that there was "only a small shaded area for tents," which became "very cramped" for their party. They were unable to fit all of their tents in the shade, indicating that while some shaded spots exist, they might be limited. This suggests that larger groups, in particular, might need to be mindful of sun exposure and plan accordingly, perhaps by bringing canopies or seeking out the available shaded areas early.
The same large group also found the "amphitheater area" to be "very small," deeming it "too small to be comfortable" for their size. This suggests that while the campground might have an amphitheater for gatherings or performances, its capacity might be limited and more suitable for smaller audiences. This is an important consideration for groups planning any kind of large-scale presentations or gatherings.
Based on their experience, the reviewer who visited with a large group concluded that Camp Helaman Hollow "would work for a group of 50-80 or so," but they would not recommend it for a group over 100 again. This provides valuable guidance for local users planning group camping trips, suggesting that the campground might be optimally suited for medium-sized gatherings.
Conversely, a reviewer who simply stated "So so fun! Lots of space, beautifully shaded" likely visited with a smaller group or as individuals and had a more positive experience regarding space and shade. This highlights that the suitability of Camp Helaman Hollow can depend on the size of the group and their specific needs.
In summary, Camp Helaman Hollow near Helper, UT, offers a compelling "camping near me" option, particularly for groups in the 50-80 person range. Its environment includes "beautifully shaded" areas, although the extent of shade for very large groups might be limited. The presence of a "Zipline" and a "stream running through the campground" adds unique recreational and natural appeal. The "pavilion and lodge" with an "outdoor patio" provide nice facilities for group gatherings. However, larger groups exceeding 100 people might find the tent space and amphitheater area to be too small. The overall atmosphere seems conducive to a fun and engaging camping experience, especially when group sizes are within the recommended range.
For local users considering Camp Helaman Hollow, it would be beneficial to inquire about the specific layout of the campsites, the extent of shaded areas, and the capacities of the pavilion, lodge, and amphitheater, especially if planning a group event. The presence of a zipline suggests a focus on outdoor activities, and the stream offers a natural amenity that many campers appreciate. While no phone number or website is provided in the initial information, searching online for "Camp Helaman Hollow Helper UT" might yield contact details or additional information to help plan your camping trip. Consider the size of your group and your priorities regarding shade and gathering spaces when deciding if Camp Helaman Hollow is the right "camping near me" for your next outdoor adventure.

Camp Helaman Hollow Reviews
This is a decent place for a smaller group than ours. There was only a small shaded area for tents and it was very cramped for our group. We couldn't fit all of our tents in the shade. We had a group of about 125 people. The pavilion and lodge are nice and the outdoor patio at the lodge is a nice addition. The amphitheater area is very small, too small to be comfortable for our group. Overall, this would work for a group of 50-80 or so, but I wouldn't take a group over 100 again.
