Combining natural beauty with essential amenities, Gooseberry Reservoir Campground provides a memorable camping getaway.
Immerse Yourself in a Beautiful Environment: Gooseberry Reservoir Campground lives up to its name by offering stunning views, particularly of the reservoir itself. According to visitor feedback, the late September and early October timeframe is especially enchanting as it coincides with the vibrant changing colors of the leaves, creating a truly spectacular backdrop for your camping experience. The campground is also characterized by its location nestled among aspen trees, which not only provide gorgeous views but also offer ample shade for the campsites, a welcome feature during warmer days. The overall atmosphere is one of natural beauty and tranquility, making it a perfect escape from the everyday.
Understanding the Available Services: While Gooseberry Reservoir Campground emphasizes the natural experience, it does provide some basic yet important amenities for camper convenience. Visitors can expect to find water spigots available within the campground, offering a source for drinking water and other needs. Additionally, vault toilets are provided for sanitation. It's important to note, however, that similar to many campgrounds that prioritize preserving the natural environment, Gooseberry Reservoir Campground operates on a pack-it-out policy for trash. Campers are responsible for removing all of their waste upon departure, ensuring the continued cleanliness and beauty of the area.
Key Features and Enjoyable Activities: One of the standout features of Gooseberry Reservoir Campground is its proximity to fantastic fishing. Reviews from visitors highlight the rewarding fishing experiences available in the reservoir, making it an attractive destination for anglers of all skill levels. The presence of the reservoir not only enhances the scenic beauty but also provides opportunities for other water-related activities, although specific details about boating or swimming are not mentioned in the provided information. The campground's location among aspen trees contributes to its visual appeal and provides a pleasant, shaded environment for relaxation.
The timing of your visit can significantly enhance your experience. The recommendation for late September to early October suggests that witnessing the fall foliage is a major draw, transforming the landscape into a tapestry of warm colors. This period offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons while camping. While the reviews don't explicitly mention hiking trails directly within the campground, the surrounding Manti Lasalle National Forest is known for its extensive trail systems, which may be accessible with a short drive from the campground, offering further opportunities for exploration and outdoor adventure.
Promotional Considerations and Recommendations: Based on the enthusiastic feedback from campers, Gooseberry Reservoir Campground is highly recommended for those seeking a beautiful and relatively secluded camping experience with the added benefits of fishing and stunning fall foliage. The presence of water spigots and vault toilets provides a level of convenience while still maintaining a connection with nature. The shady campsites offered by the aspen trees are a definite plus, especially during the summer months. For local users looking for "camping near me" that combines scenic beauty with recreational activities, Gooseberry Reservoir Campground presents a compelling option.
It's worth noting the reviewer's comment about potentially "chilly" nights, particularly in late September and early October. This suggests that campers planning visits during these times should come prepared with appropriate clothing and gear to ensure a comfortable experience in cooler temperatures. The emphasis on packing out trash underscores the importance of responsible camping practices and respecting the natural environment of the campground.
In summary, Gooseberry Reservoir Campground offers a picturesque camping destination within the Manti Lasalle National Forest. Its key attractions include the beautiful reservoir views, excellent fishing opportunities, the charm of camping among aspen trees (especially during the fall foliage season), and the provision of basic amenities like water spigots and vault toilets. For local campers seeking a scenic and enjoyable "camping near me" experience, Gooseberry Reservoir Campground is a place worth considering for your next outdoor adventure. Remember to prepare for cooler evenings, especially during the shoulder seasons, and to adhere to the campground's policy of packing out all trash to help preserve its natural beauty for future visitors.

Gooseberry Reservoir Campground Reviews
Beautiful! Last part of September/early October is ideal for the leafs changing color. The reservoir is beautiful. Fishing was fantastic. We had the best time! A little chilly but as long as you are prepared for colder nights, you will be set!
Sep 22, 2021 · SydneyGreat little out of the way campground! It's nestled in Aspen trees with gorgeous views! Water spigot and vault toilets. Shady campsites. You have to haul your trash out.
Jul 20, 2024 · Brooke BarnesWhat a nice place to camp! We stayed in the spots right next to the reservoir which are very big and I loved how they aren't too close to the neighboring spots. The only down side was there aren't any trees there but as long as you have some cover you'll be alright. Fishing was good and everyone in our group seemed to get more than a few little ones.
Jul 02, 2018 · Jessica GuymonIt has beautiful scenery, very peaceful, We love the fact that you can fish right on the Lake out your RV.
Jul 22, 2020 · Jody EricksonNot a lot of shade but the fishing is awesome. 2 days this summer and we have had a blast
