Camp Holly Introduce
For local users in West Virginia and the surrounding areas searching for "camping near me," Camp Holly, located at 4531 Diana Dr, Diana, WV 26217, USA, offers a camping and cabin experience in a potentially scenic setting. Situated in Webster County, the Diana area is known for its natural beauty and rural charm, suggesting that Camp Holly could provide a tranquil escape for those seeking a local outdoor adventure. You can reach them at (304) 847-5223 or +1 304-847-5223 for inquiries and bookings.
Based on customer reviews, the environment at Camp Holly appears to be a significant draw for some visitors. One reviewer described the campsite and cabins as "awesome" with a "very pretty" view that contributed to a calm atmosphere. The sounds of nature in the mornings were highlighted as a positive aspect of the experience. The presence of a pond view from the cabins was also noted as a "super cool" feature, suggesting a picturesque setting that allows guests to connect with nature directly from their accommodation.
The cabins at Camp Holly are described as "cozy," indicating that they aim to provide a comfortable alternative to traditional tent camping. This could appeal to local users who appreciate the outdoors but prefer the added shelter and potential amenities of a cabin. The positive mention of the owner being "super nice" suggests a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere, which can significantly enhance the overall guest experience. For those prioritizing a friendly and accommodating host when searching for "camping near me," this feedback is noteworthy.
However, it is crucial to consider the less positive experiences shared by other guests to gain a balanced understanding of what Camp Holly offers. One reviewer who booked a three-night stay seeking a more comfortable camping experience as they got older encountered several issues. While they acknowledged that the young lady working at the camp was "very nice and helpful," their overall experience was marred by the location's proximity to a neighboring property with a persistently noisy generator.
According to this review, the generator from a nearby residence ran "all night long," significantly impacting the peace and quiet that one typically seeks during a camping trip. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of the owner, the response was that "nothing we can do about it." The reviewer also mentioned the presence of two empty cabins located further away from the noise, yet they were not offered a move to these potentially quieter accommodations. This lack of flexibility or attempt to mitigate the noise issue was a significant point of dissatisfaction.
Another major concern raised in the review was the quality of the beds in the accommodation. The reviewer described the bed as "VERY soft," causing both occupants to sink towards the middle, resulting in an "unpeaceful or restful night." This aspect is particularly important for local users who prioritize a good night's sleep when choosing their "camping near me" option. The discomfort experienced led the reviewer to cut their three-night stay short, indicating a significant negative impact on their overall experience.
The cleanliness of the bathhouse was mentioned positively by the dissatisfied reviewer, and the helpfulness of the staff member cleaning it was also noted. However, when the reviewer shared their negative experience regarding the generator noise with this staff member, the response was similar to the owner's: "nothing we can do about that." This suggests a potential limitation in addressing certain external factors that might affect the guest experience.
Furthermore, the reviewer expressed disappointment with the overall ambiance, stating that it was "not quiet, romantic by any means," contrary to what they might have expected. They also pointed out that the pictures on the website appeared to be of the owner's home, which could lead to a discrepancy between expectations and reality for potential guests searching for "camping near me" based on online visuals.
Considering these mixed reviews, local users looking for "camping near me" should weigh the positive aspects, such as the scenic views, cozy cabins, and a friendly owner (as mentioned by one reviewer), against the potential drawbacks, including persistent generator noise from a neighboring property and uncomfortable beds (as experienced by another). It would be prudent for prospective guests to inquire specifically about the proximity of neighboring properties and potential noise issues when making a booking at Camp Holly. Additionally, asking about the type and firmness of the beds in the cabins might be beneficial for those with specific comfort preferences.
While the positive review highlights the potential for relaxation and creating "awesome memories," the negative review underscores the importance of a peaceful environment and comfortable amenities for a satisfactory camping or cabin stay. The lack of a proactive solution to the generator noise and the issue with the soft bed significantly detracted from one guest's experience, suggesting that these are areas where Camp Holly might need to improve guest satisfaction.
For local users considering Camp Holly for their "camping near me" needs, direct communication with the owners using the provided phone numbers is highly recommended. Inquire about the specific cabin or campsite you are interested in, the typical noise levels at night, and the type of bedding provided. Asking about any recent improvements or changes based on guest feedback could also be informative. Additionally, clarifying whether the online pictures accurately represent the guest accommodations and the surrounding areas would be a wise step to manage expectations.
In conclusion, Camp Holly in Diana, WV, offers the potential for a scenic and cozy camping or cabin experience, with at least one guest praising the views and the friendliness of the owner. However, feedback from another guest highlights significant concerns regarding persistent noise from a nearby generator and uncomfortable beds, along with a perceived lack of effort to resolve these issues. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these mixed reviews and directly communicate with Camp Holly to gather more specific information before making a booking decision to ensure it aligns with their preferences for comfort and tranquility.

Dec 25, 2023 · Omid GolestanianMy husband and I booked for a 3 night stay. Wanted something different. We had been camping many times in the past but as you get older you look for comfort when doing so. The young lady that works there was very nice and helpful. The location not so much. We decided to make the best of it, set up camp and decided to go fishing. It was nice and quiet till the people who lived 50 yards away turned on there generator. We thought no big deal , wrong it ran all night long and when my husband said something to the owner, he said yeah we know, nothing we can do about it. There were 2 empty cabins away from the generator noise and moving was not offered. We eat our dinner by the fire with the lovely sound of the generator and get ready to go to bed. BED was not easy to sleep in. It was VERY soft, when we layed down we both met in the middle. Was not a peaceful or restful night. Some sleep was had but not much. When I woke up the next morning I walked to the bath house which were very nice and the lady that works there was cleaning them and when asked how my night went I said " not as good as the folks with the generator " her words were "nothing we can do about that" that's when I decided 2 nights of this wasn't going to work for us. We ate our breakfast and cut and stay short. If you have guests and they are unhappy, shouldn't you try and make it better for them?? But no....there was nothing they could do!It was not quiet, romantic by any means, and the pictures on there website are of the owners home.
Jul 26, 2024 · Kimberly SullivanWe had a great stay with Camp Holly for our anniversary. We enjoyed walking around the trails on the property. The A-Frame was quaint and comfortable. I loved having the creek right out the back door. Very nice bath houses. Friendly staff and easy check in/out. A perfect getaway for us.
Oct 15, 2023 · Mary ArrittWe recently had a family reunion at Camp Holly and had the best time. The kids were able to play in their field, catch butterflies, feed farm animals, swim in the river, stargaze, hike and fish in the lake. The cabins were adorable and the host went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. I can't recommend this place enough.
