Pete's Lake And Campground Introduce
For local users in the Webster Springs, West Virginia area who are searching within the "camping near me" category and are particularly interested in fishing and lakeside camping, Pete's Lake And Campground, located at 4635 Diana Drive, Webster Springs, WV 26288, USA, offers a potential destination. You can reach them by phone at (304) 847-5223 or +1 304-847-5223 for inquiries. Based on the available customer reviews, the campground is centered around a lake known for fishing and cleanliness, although there are some reports of inconsistent management.
The environment of Pete's Lake And Campground is highlighted by its lake, which is described as clean and suitable for fishing. One reviewer mentioned having a great time fishing despite rainy conditions, with all three of their children catching fish. This suggests that the lake is well-stocked or otherwise conducive to a successful fishing experience, making it an attractive feature for local anglers looking for a "camping near me" spot where they can enjoy their hobby. The area around the lake is also reported to be in great shape, indicating that the natural surroundings are well-maintained and pleasant for visitors.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide limited but important information. The primary feature appears to be the lake itself, which supports fishing activities. The positive fishing experience reported by one family suggests that this is a key draw for the campground. Beyond the lake, there is no specific mention of amenities such as restrooms, showers, picnic areas, or fire rings in the provided reviews. Local users looking for these facilities should inquire directly with the campground to ascertain their availability.
One concerning review raises questions about the reliability of the campground's operating hours and communication. A potential visitor reported calling ahead and leaving a message, receiving a callback confirming the campground would be open until 10 p.m. on a Sunday. However, upon arrival at 6 p.m. that Sunday, nobody was present, and a sign indicated that fishing was prohibited when no one was there. This discrepancy between the communicated hours and the reality on the ground led to a negative experience for the potential visitor, who vowed not to return. This incident highlights the importance for local users to verify operating hours and the availability of services directly with Pete's Lake And Campground before making a long trip.
The sign stating "absolutely no fishing when no one is there" suggests that access to the lake and potentially the campground itself might be dependent on the presence of staff or owners. This could be a significant factor for local users planning to fish or camp, as it implies that spontaneous visits might not be possible if the campground is unattended. It also underscores the need for clear and reliable communication from the management regarding operating hours and access policies.
Despite the negative experience related to inconsistent operation, the positive review regarding fishing and the cleanliness of the lake indicates that Pete's Lake And Campground has the potential to offer a good experience when properly managed and accessible. The fact that a family had a great time fishing and appreciated the well-maintained area suggests that the core attraction – the lake and its surroundings – is appealing.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about camping fees, fishing permits (if required), seasonal rates, or any special offers would need to contact Pete's Lake And Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Given the small amount of information available, it is unclear if they offer specific promotions for local residents or during certain times of the year.
In summary, Pete's Lake And Campground in Webster Springs, WV, offers a local "camping near me" option centered around a clean lake known for good fishing. The area around the lake is reportedly well-maintained. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding the reliability of operating hours and communication from the management. Local users are strongly advised to call ahead and confirm the campground's hours of operation and access policies before planning a visit, especially if traveling a significant distance. While the fishing experience can be positive, the inconsistency in management reported by one potential visitor is a crucial factor to consider.
For local residents of Webster Springs and the surrounding areas looking for a place to fish and potentially camp, Pete's Lake And Campground offers a clean and seemingly productive fishing lake. However, to ensure a satisfactory experience, it is imperative to verify the current operating status and any rules regarding access and fishing directly with the campground. The discrepancy reported in the reviews highlights the need for clear communication from the management to avoid disappointment. If these operational aspects are addressed, Pete's Lake And Campground could be a valuable local resource for fishing enthusiasts and those seeking a lakeside camping spot.

Pete's Lake And Campground Reviews
Despite the rain we had a great time fishing. All 3 of my children caught fish. The lake is clean and the area around the lake is in great shape. Thanks so much.
Sep 12, 2019 · Kristin CooperI called before I showed up at the pond. I left a message on their voicemail saying I was going to be driving an hour and a half to get there with my two boys. He called me back, didn't get me, but left a message on my voicemail. He said that he will be open all weekend every night even Sunday until 10 p.m. I showed up at 6 p.m. on Sunday nobody was there. There's a sign that says absolutely no fishing when no one is there. What a poor way to run a business. I will never attempt to go there again.
Aug 06, 2018 · Kara WilliamsPeaceful place. My family and I spent the weekend here fishing and playing in the creek daylight to dark. The owners were very kind and helpful. We hope to return very soon! Each campsite has full hookups (water, sewer, electric) for campers.
