Located at 890 190th Ave, Pella, IA 50219, USA, this campground, as indicated by customer reviews, offers a well-maintained and nature-rich environment, making it an excellent choice for local users seeking a tranquil outdoor escape.
For those in the Pella and surrounding areas looking for "camping near me," Wallashuck Campground at Lake Red Rock provides a compelling option. The positive feedback from campers highlights several key aspects that contribute to its appeal. The mention of being a "beautiful Corps of Engineers campground" suggests that it is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which often implies well-maintained facilities and access to natural resources and recreational opportunities associated with the lake.
The environment of Wallashuck Campground is described as having "lots of trees," which is a significant draw for campers seeking shade, privacy, and a connection with nature. A wooded environment often enhances the camping experience by providing a more immersive natural setting and attracting local wildlife. One reviewer specifically mentioned seeing wild turkeys trotting past their tent, indicating the presence of wildlife within the campground, which can be a delightful experience for nature lovers. The proximity to Lake Red Rock further enriches the environment, potentially offering scenic lake views, opportunities for water-based activities such as fishing and boating (though not explicitly stated in the reviews), and an overall sense of natural beauty. For those prioritizing a natural and potentially wildlife-rich "camping near me" experience, Wallashuck Campground appears to be an excellent choice.
The services and features at Wallashuck Campground are also highlighted in the customer reviews. The availability of "electric sites" is a significant feature, particularly for RV campers who require power for their appliances and comfort. The mention of a specific price for electric sites ($11 with an America the Beautiful Pass) provides valuable information about affordability and potential discounts for pass holders. This suggests that the campground caters to both tent and RV campers, offering different levels of amenities to suit various needs. While the reviews do not explicitly detail other amenities, Corps of Engineers campgrounds typically provide well-maintained basic facilities such as restrooms, showers, and potable water sources. The positive feedback regarding the campground being "well maintained" likely extends to these essential services, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay for those seeking "camping near me."
The reviews also touch upon the operational aspects of Wallashuck Campground. The recommendation of "reserving in advance" suggests that it is a popular location, especially during peak seasons, and securing a site beforehand is advisable to guarantee availability. However, the information that "if there are any open sites you can call and reserve when you arrive" offers a degree of flexibility for spontaneous campers. The provided phone numbers, (641) 828-7522 and +1 641-828-7522, are crucial for contacting the campground directly for reservations, inquiries about amenities, and to check for any last-minute openings upon arrival.
While specific details about other features are not explicitly mentioned, the fact that a reviewer has stayed there "many times so far this summer" and has "no bad experiences" speaks volumes about the overall quality and appeal of Wallashuck Campground. The recommendation to friends further underscores its positive reputation among campers looking for "camping near me" in the Lake Red Rock area.
Regarding promotional information, the price mentioned for electric sites with the America the Beautiful Pass ($11) can be considered a form of discounted rate for pass holders. The America the Beautiful Pass is a federal recreation lands pass that provides access to many national parks and other federal recreation sites, and its acceptance for discounted camping fees at a Corps of Engineers campground is a valuable piece of information for pass holders seeking "camping near me." For local users who do not have this pass, it would be advisable to inquire about the standard rates for both electric and non-electric sites when contacting the campground directly. It's also worth asking about any potential seasonal discounts or special offers that might be available.
In conclusion, Wallashuck Campground at Lake Red Rock appears to be a highly recommended "camping near me" destination for local users in the Pella, Iowa area. Its well-maintained environment with abundant trees and wildlife, coupled with the availability of electric sites and the potential for discounted rates with the America the Beautiful Pass, makes it an attractive option for both tent and RV campers. Wallashuck Campground Lake Red Rock Reviews
I've stayed at this campground many times so far this summer. No bad experiences. It is well maintained, with lots of trees, and the wildlife that live there. I've seen wild turkeys just trotting past my tent.I will be back and have recommended it to friends!
Jul 13, 2024 · Diane MeyerAnother beautiful Corps of Engineers campground. Electric sites $11 with America the beautiful pass. Reserving in advance is recommended however if there are any open sites you can call and reserve when you arrive.
Aug 16, 2024 · Rebecca LentsNice campground and lake. Bathrooms were nice. Several trails to use. Bicycle and walking. You are 2 miles from Pella if you are short supplies. Be sure to hit the bakeries. Beach looked good and boating. You are close to Knoxville, where you could take in a dirt track race.
May 31, 2023 · Thomas MooreGreat campground. Very good prices and very clean. Neat walking and bike path around the lake
Jul 05, 2024 · Alex MaretteVery nice campground for a family outing. Each lot had its own electric hookup, every block has a building with restrooms and showers which are cleaned and kept up daily. Staff are super friendly and helpful.I actually ended up there due to car troubles and stayed for almost a week while waiting on a local mechanic to fix it. Bought a fishing license and played around the lake for the most part of my stay. Enjoyed joking around with the staff whenever I seen them, along with asking a question here and there about the wildlife or area since I am from a different state and not familiar with the surroundings. The kids enjoyed the hot air balloon racing the one night and a 10 mile walk on the bike trail just outside the perimeter near the office.Even met a famous MLB player and his wife on one of the last days of my stay.
