Camp Venice Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Venice, Florida area? Camp Venice, located at 4085 E Venice Ave, Venice, FL 34292, USA, offers a camping experience with a distinctly "old FL feel" according to some visitors. You can reach them at (941) 488-0850 or +1 941-488-0850 for inquiries and reservations. Based on online reviews, Camp Venice presents a mixed picture, with some highlighting its appealing natural environment and convenient location, while others express concerns about the upkeep and management.
One enthusiastic reviewer praised the entrance to the campground, noting the "live oaks overhanging the road in." This sets a picturesque tone upon arrival, suggesting a natural and potentially shaded environment throughout the campground. The presence of "oak trees everywhere" on the sites is also mentioned positively, implying a leafy and potentially cooler camping experience, which can be particularly desirable in the Florida climate. Furthermore, this reviewer found the sites to be "fairly level," which is crucial for comfortable RV or tent setup.
In terms of amenities, this positive review highlights a "clean and warm" pool, which would be a welcome feature for relaxation and recreation, especially during warmer months. The laundry facilities are described as being within "easy reach from most sites," adding convenience for longer stays. The reviewer also commends the maintenance crew, stating that they "work hard at maintenance and it shows," suggesting that at least some aspects of the campground are well-cared for. The location is also noted as having an "incredible old FL feel" while still being close to shopping centers, offering a blend of natural charm and accessibility to conveniences.
Adding to the appeal, the review mentions that "the river is right out of a movie complete with tons of wildlife." This suggests a significant natural attraction, potentially offering opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing, or simply enjoying a scenic waterfront. This proximity to nature could be a major draw for those seeking a more immersive outdoor experience as part of their "camping near me" search.
However, another, more critical review presents a contrasting perspective. This long-term visitor of five years initially found Camp Venice to be a "neat place and a great location," particularly noting its proximity to Snook Haven (though mentioning its unfortunate closure). This indicates that the location has historically been considered a strong point.
The negative feedback focuses on a perceived decline in the facilities over the years. The reviewer states that the facilities have "gone downhill each year" and that there have been no attempts to improve them. Specific issues mentioned include electrical problems and flooding (not river-related) even from "a gentle rain." The reviewer also claims that there are no "qualified maintenance employees" to address these issues.
A significant portion of the negative review centers on the management, specifically mentioning a manager named Ann. The reviewer alleges a lack of customer service, stating that questioning anything leads to alienation. A specific incident mentioned is the removal of all pool chairs and tables due to a disagreement with one customer. Furthermore, the review claims that a reservation was denied to a customer who inquired about the electrical status of a specific site. The reviewer interprets this as an excuse to deny access to someone who raised a concern.
Based on these contrasting reviews, potential visitors considering Camp Venice for their "camping near me" needs should be aware of both the positive aspects, such as the natural environment with oak trees and river access, and the potential downsides related to facility maintenance and management as described in the more critical review. It seems that while the setting and location might be appealing, the overall experience could be influenced by the condition of the facilities and the management approach.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Venice, FL, Camp Venice presents itself as a campground with a potentially charming old Florida atmosphere, beautiful oak trees, and proximity to a wildlife-rich river. The presence of a pool and laundry facilities adds to the convenience. However, it's essential to consider the recent feedback regarding the potential decline in facilities and concerns about management responsiveness. If well-maintained amenities are a high priority, you might want to inquire specifically about the current status of the electrical systems and drainage. Conversely, if you prioritize a natural setting and are less concerned about potentially outdated facilities, Camp Venice might still be worth considering.
To make an informed decision, local campers might want to contact Camp Venice directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current condition of the facilities and any recent improvements. Asking about their maintenance procedures and customer service approach could also be beneficial. While the positive review highlights the beauty of the location and some of the amenities, the negative review raises valid concerns that potential visitors should be aware of.
Ultimately, whether Camp Venice is the right "camping near me" option for you will depend on your priorities. If you value a scenic, natural environment and are willing to potentially overlook some shortcomings in facility maintenance or management, it might be a suitable choice. However, if you expect well-maintained and modern amenities and a high level of customer service, you might want to weigh the negative feedback more heavily in your decision-making process. It's always a good idea to gather the most up-to-date information before making a reservation at any campground.

Camp Venice Reviews
We love the live oaks overhanging the road in. All the sites are fairly level and have oak trees everywhere. The pool is clean and warm. The laundry is an easy reach from most sites. The crew work hard at maintenance and it shows. It has an incredible old FL feel with shopping centers close by. The river is right out of a movie complete with tons of wildlife.
Feb 21, 2025 · TOM POWERSThis Place Is Not Worth The TroubleWe have stayed here for the past 5 years. It is a neat place and a great location, next to Snook Haven (which is going away unfortunately). The facilities have gone downhill each year. They have not made any attempts to improve anything and management ignores issues, especially electrical and flooding (non-river) just from a gentle rain. They don't have any qualified maintenance employees to correct any of these issues. But the real issue is a manager (Ann) that doesn't care about anything. She doesn't provide any customer service, if you question anything that she does, then you are alienated. She removed all of the pool chairs and tables from the pool area just because one customer disagreed with her. She denied a reservation to a customer because they questioned electrical status on a specific site and she didn't understand that it was not causing an issue. It was just an excuse to deny access to a customer that questioned a non-issue. We suggest you look elsewhere.
Feb 22, 2025 · Lee StroupeOh boy! The people managing the campground are very rude and treat their customers with complete disrespect. During my stay from Dec 10 to Jan 2nd, more than 6 different people told me that the mgmt made them move campsites, even when nobody showed up to camp in their spot or there were numerous other spots the new people could have moved into. All spots were similar.Others told me that when they gave a bad review, the mgmt, especially ANN, would come and give them an additional bill. Which they will deny on their credit cards.Others said they would call them and ask them to slow down. Although they didn’t seem to be holding a radar detector so I am not sure they knew if they were going exactly 2 or 7 miles an/hour.I went to the office and told them that they had probably better let me out as I will start to stand up to the ugliness. I told them that I knew what they were doing to their customers and they were going to lose business.Anyways, I told them I would be leaving early after they charged my credit card for the amount for the end of the month and I would be disputing the charges. The next day, they called me into the office and said get out by 11. I said that I had an appointment at 10:30 but I would pay an extra day but pack up and leave after my appointment and they said, “No, you will be gone by 11”. I said, “fine but I want all my money back for the original month I had paid for. They said, “I think we can do that” and I said, “No, you WILL do that.”. They did not refund me for the original days so I will be filing a dispute with the attorney general.I then had mail delivered there and they said if I signed a form saying that ai wouldn’t give a bad review, they would give me my mail.I showed up and refused to sign the form. I walked out of the office and called the sheriffs department and a deputy came, we walked in and they kindly handed over mymail.THIS NEW MANAGEMENT and campground was reported to the Better Business Bureau as well. Please safe yourself lots of disrespect and try camping somewhere more peaceful. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
Jan 09, 2025 · Sharon HoffmanThe staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. Don't talk too loud or you will get kicked out with no refund. Don't have too much fun, the older residents will get mad.
Mar 02, 2025 · Courtney SmithWhat a great little old florida campground. The canopy drive coming in is beautiful and feels like your gateway to the peacefulness of this campground. This our second stay here and it won't be our last. The bathrooms and communal areas are clean and adequate, and the grounds are clean and nicely kept. The location is awesome and is just a short drive to Venice and grocery stores. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Thank you for the great weekend getaway!
