It's crucial to note, as highlighted by a satisfied visitor, that this Camp Zarahemla is located in Morgan, Utah, and is distinct from any other location with a similar name, such as one potentially in Ogden. This Morgan-based Camp Zarahemla has garnered rave reviews as a fantastic recreation and camping spot, with many visitors returning year after year to enjoy its unique offerings.
One of the standout features of Camp Zarahemla is its convenient location. Situated in Morgan, Utah, it boasts easy accessibility, making it a hassle-free destination for local users seeking a quick and enjoyable getaway. Its proximity to East Canyon Dam further enhances its appeal, offering opportunities for additional recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and exploring the scenic beauty of the reservoir. Moreover, its close proximity to downtown Morgan provides the added convenience of nearby groceries and a medical clinic, ensuring that essential needs are easily met during your camping trip.
The environment at Camp Zarahemla is particularly well-suited for families and youth groups. While described as a "smaller campsite," its layout and features are perfectly tailored to create a fun and engaging experience for these demographics. The presence of cabins with bunk beds offers a comfortable and sheltered accommodation option, especially beneficial for larger groups or those seeking a bit more structure than traditional tent camping. While the cabins themselves do not have electricity, the availability of a couple of outlets in the bathrooms/showers provides a convenient charging point for essential devices.
Adding to the recreational appeal of Camp Zarahemla is a delightful little stream that runs next to the campsite. Visitors enthusiastically mention the opportunity to tube down this creek, providing a fun and refreshing activity for all ages. It's important to note that you'll need to bring your own tubes to enjoy this feature. The campground also offers other on-site recreational facilities, including a volleyball court and a tetherball pole, encouraging active play and friendly competition among campers. For those who enjoy a bit of exploration, there's a short hike right within the campsite, allowing for easy access to nature and scenic views.
The abundance of trees throughout Camp Zarahemla is another significant advantage, providing ample shade and creating a cool and comfortable camping environment, particularly during the warmer months. This natural shade enhances the overall experience, making it more enjoyable to spend time outdoors, whether you're relaxing at your campsite, playing games, or simply enjoying the natural surroundings.
Interestingly, one reviewer noted the lack of mobile phone reception within the campsite, which they actually found to be a positive aspect. This absence of connectivity encouraged everyone to be more present and engaged with each other and the natural environment, fostering a greater sense of togetherness and allowing for a true escape from the digital world. This could be a significant draw for those looking to disconnect and fully immerse themselves in the camping experience.
Beyond the physical amenities and natural environment, the exceptional service at Camp Zarahemla is consistently praised. Visitors have highlighted the "sweetest and so helpful" missionary couple running the camp, as well as the kind and eager service missionaries who are always ready to assist in any way needed. This warm and welcoming atmosphere contributes significantly to the overall positive experience, making guests feel valued and well-cared for throughout their stay.
Considering all these aspects, Camp Zarahemla offers a unique and highly recommended "camping near me" option in the Morgan, Utah area. Its focus on providing a family and youth-friendly environment, coupled with its convenient location, engaging recreational activities like creek tubing and the giant slip and slide (mentioned in another review), comfortable cabin accommodations, and exceptional hospitality, makes it a standout choice for local users. Camp Zarahemla Reviews
Camp Zarahemla in Morgan Utah (not the Ogden one) is a fantastic recreation and camping spot. Over the past several years, we've spent over a dozen nights at the camp, and we have enjoyed each time. We love how conveniently located it is. It is easy to get to and is near East Canyon dam. Also, because of its proximity to downtown Morgan, groceries and a medical clinic are nearby. We love to float the creek and slide down the giant slip and slide. Good times!
Jul 26, 2019 · Aaron ChristensenIt’s a smaller campsite but perfect for families and YW groups! Cabins with bunks and bathrooms/showers (no electricity in the cabins but there’s a couple outlets in the showers). There’s a little stream next to the campsite you can tube down (you have to bring your own) a volleyball court, tetherball and a short hike right in the campsite. Perfect place to stay for a couple nights. Lots of trees for shade. There’s no reception in the camp site which we actually enjoyed because it helped us all be more present.I also have to add that the missionary couple running camp Zarahemla were just the sweetest and so helpful. We also loved the service missionaries. They were so kind and eager to assist in anyway needed. Overall had a very positive experience.
Jul 22, 2024 · Savanna GillisI've been coming here since I was very little. My grandfather and my father helped to build the lodge, and some of the other buildings on the property. I came here for girls camp when I was a teen. It's a very nice camp, especially since the cabins were built. They keep the place nice. Be neighborly and keep to the quiet hours because they sure have to put up with a lot of groups! The river is fun to float down, but you must have a life jacket. The lodge gets warm in the summer, but that's part of the experience. :) It's a great place! You can definitely feel the spirit here.
Sep 01, 2022 · A PlaizierThis is a great place for family and ward functions. The bathrooms are heated during cooler months and are running water. Highly recommended for groups. Book early! The camp is tailored more for Young Women. They have extra large bathrooms and showers and have chopped wood for Young women groups
