Captain Andy's Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking "camping near me" in the Calabash, North Carolina area, Captain Andy's Campground, located at 1220 Wilson Ave SW, Calabash, NC 28467, USA, offers a unique and potentially memorable camping experience. With phone numbers (910) 579-2050 and +1 910-579-2050, Captain Andy's provides a base for exploring the scenic beauty and attractions of the North Carolina coast.
Based on the available customer reviews, the environment at Captain Andy's Campground appears to be a subject of varied experiences. While one long-term resident initially found it to be a "nice quiet place," their experience later shifted due to noise disturbances. Specifically, concerns were raised about loud music emanating from other campers, which negatively impacted the peacefulness of the environment and even caused distress to pets. This suggests that while the location may offer a certain degree of tranquility at times, noise levels can fluctuate depending on the other guests present.
However, amidst these concerns, a significant and recurring theme emerges regarding the exceptional hospitality offered by Captain Andy himself. One reviewer recounted an extraordinary experience upon arriving late without a reservation and needing no hookups. Despite being fully booked, Captain Andy went above and beyond by offering a free parking spot in the boat trailer area. Furthermore, in a remarkable display of "true southern hospitality," Captain Andy generously provided the camper with ingredients for a shrimp boil, highlighting a unique and potentially delightful aspect of staying at his campground. This suggests that Captain Andy is a personable and generous host who may offer special experiences to his guests, particularly his renowned seafood boil.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide a mixed picture. While specific amenities like hookups, picnic tables, or fire pits are not consistently mentioned for all sites, it's clear that Captain Andy is willing to accommodate guests in unique ways, even if it means improvising parking arrangements for those with specific needs. The availability of hookups seems to be a factor in site allocation, as mentioned by the reviewer who was offered a free spot without them. The potential for enjoying a seafood boil prepared by Captain Andy himself stands out as a distinctive feature that goes beyond typical campground offerings. This personal touch and culinary delight could be a major draw for campers seeking a more interactive and flavorful experience.
The primary feature that consistently shines through in the reviews is the exceptional hospitality of Captain Andy and the friendliness of his daughter. The positive interaction with the host appears to be a defining characteristic of the campground. The willingness to help, even in situations where the campground is full, and the generosity shown in sharing food and resources create a welcoming and memorable atmosphere for some guests. The reviewer who embarked on a 4000-mile journey specifically highlighted Captain Andy's place as the most memorable, emphasizing the impact of his kindness and the unique seafood boil.
However, it's crucial for prospective local users searching for "camping near me" to be aware of the potential for noise disturbances from other campers. The incident involving loud music from a specific group with a white Jeep indicates that the campground might not always be the quietest environment, and this could be a concern for those seeking absolute peace and tranquility. If you value a serene and undisturbed camping experience, it might be prudent to inquire about noise policies or the general atmosphere during your intended stay.
Regarding promotional information, none is explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the glowing account of the complimentary shrimp boil could be interpreted as an informal promotion of Captain Andy's culinary skills and the unique experiences he might offer. To learn about any specific promotions, availability, or the likelihood of experiencing the famous seafood boil, contacting Captain Andy directly via phone at (910) 579-2050 or +1 910-579-2050 is highly recommended.
In conclusion, Captain Andy's Campground offers a camping experience characterized by the exceptional southern hospitality of its owner. The potential for unique interactions, such as the highly praised seafood boil, could make your stay particularly memorable. However, prospective campers should also be aware of the possibility of noise disturbances from other guests, as highlighted in one of the reviews. For local users searching for "camping near me" who value a personal touch and are open to a potentially lively atmosphere, Captain Andy's Campground could be a worthwhile option. We encourage you to contact Captain Andy directly to discuss your needs and preferences and to inquire about the current environment and any special offerings that might enhance your camping adventure in Calabash, North Carolina.

May 09, 2020 · Roy SimmonsI and my dogs rolled in to Captain Andy place somewhat later in the evening right before the 4th of July, not surprisingly Andy's place was full and he could not offer Mia site with any hookups, when I told him that I did not need any and that my camper was set up for me and my dogs and because it was getting later in the evening Andy being the southern gentleman that he is, offered to let me park where the boat trailers are generally Park during the day, on top of that, he actually offered to let me and my dogs stay there for free! Simply because he did not have any available spots that had hookups for campers. On top of that, when I asked him where the nearest store was to get some supplies to cook dinner that night he asked me what I needed and then told me not to bother going to the store and actually gave me for free the stuff that I need it to have a wonderful shrimp boil off the tailgate of my camper! No joke Andy is the epitome of true southern hospitality! If you go there and I really recommend that you do, make friends with Andy and ask him for some of his wonderful seafood boil there's nothing quite like it that I have ever found throughout the South the east the Midwest and the West. Quite simply put, on my 4000 mile Odyssey with my dogs while exploring places we have never been I can say hands down Andy place has stuck in my mind more than any other to say the least. Thank you again captain I will see you again you have my word on that! Steve from Colorado in the silver Dog House Dodge diesel.
