Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin Introduce
For local residents and travelers seeking a rustic "camping near me" experience in the scenic landscapes of Northern Michigan, Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin, located at 11643 US-23, Posen, MI 49776, USA, offers a well-maintained and peaceful retreat. Based on the available customer reviews, this cabin provides a unique blend of basic amenities and a natural setting, ideal for those looking to disconnect and enjoy a quieter side of the outdoors. While it offers some comforts beyond traditional tent camping, potential guests should be aware of certain specifics, such as the lack of connected electricity and the presence of ticks.
The environment surrounding Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin in Posen, Michigan, is likely characterized by the natural beauty of the region. Northern Michigan is known for its forests, lakes, and open spaces, suggesting that the cabin is situated in a tranquil, potentially wooded area with access to the outdoors. The review mentioning "plenty of open space" supports this, indicating that guests can enjoy a sense of privacy and room to explore around the cabin. The peaceful and quiet atmosphere, also highlighted by a reviewer, suggests a location away from major roads or crowded areas, allowing for a relaxing escape into nature.
Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin offers a range of features that provide a step up from traditional camping while maintaining a rustic charm. The cabin itself is described as "very clean, well maintained," indicating that guests can expect a tidy and cared-for living space. The interior layout includes a back room with bunk beds fitted with "thick foam pads." While one reviewer noted that these might not be ideal for side sleepers, they offer sleeping arrangements for multiple people. The front room features a loft space above a kitchenette equipped with a "propane stove top" and a living area with a "dining table with three chairs," a "propane fire place," and a couch. These amenities allow for basic cooking, dining, and a comfortable living space, especially useful during cooler evenings.
A notable aspect of Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin is that while it is "wired for electricity," power was "never run to the cabin." This is a crucial piece of information for potential guests, as it means there are no standard electrical outlets for powering devices or lights. The reviewer advises to "make sure you have some electric lanterns," highlighting the need for alternative lighting sources. This lack of connected electricity contributes to the cabin's rustic nature and encourages a more off-grid experience.
Water at the cabin is provided by a "hand pump water spigot outside." This indicates a more basic water supply system, likely drawing from a well or cistern. Guests should be prepared for this and may want to bring extra water for drinking and cooking, depending on their needs and the potability of the pumped water (it's always wise to inquire about this beforehand). The presence of a "very clean Vault toilet" provides a sanitary and convenient restroom facility separate from the main cabin.
For outdoor enjoyment, Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin features an "outside fire pit" and "lots of firewood" is provided. This is a significant amenity for those who enjoy campfires for cooking, warmth, or simply the ambiance. The availability of ample firewood is a definite plus, saving guests the effort of sourcing their own. The open space surrounding the cabin offers opportunities for outdoor games, relaxation, and enjoying the natural environment.
However, a significant caution raised by the reviewer is to "beware of lots of ticks." They noted finding ticks on themselves even when they were not walking through the grass. This suggests that the area around the cabin has a high tick population, and guests should take appropriate precautions, such as using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and checking themselves and their belongings regularly for ticks to prevent potential tick-borne illnesses.
The second, shorter review simply states "Very good, cabin is well maintained! At arrival we called park ranger for code to enter." This confirms the well-maintained condition of the cabin and provides a practical detail about accessing the property, indicating a coded entry system managed by a park ranger (or similar authority). This suggests a level of security and a point of contact for arrival procedures.
Based on the available reviews, the key features and considerations for Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin for local users seeking "camping near me" are:
- **Environment:** Peaceful and quiet setting in Northern Michigan with "plenty of open space." Likely surrounded by forests and natural beauty.
- **Cabin Features:** Clean and well-maintained rustic cabin with bunk beds, a loft sleeping area, a kitchenette with a propane stove top, a living room with a dining table, chairs, a couch, and a propane fireplace.
- **Amenities:** Hand pump water spigot outside, a very clean vault toilet, an outside fire pit with plenty of firewood provided. Wired for electricity but not connected, requiring guests to bring their own lighting (e.g., electric lanterns).
- **Important Considerations:** High tick population in the area, requiring precautions. No connected electricity. Bunk bed foam pads might not be ideal for all sleepers. Access to the cabin requires obtaining an entry code, likely by contacting a park ranger upon arrival.
As there is no explicit promotional information, the inherent appeal of Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin lies in its well-maintained condition, the provision of propane-powered amenities for cooking and heating, the outdoor fire pit with firewood, and its peaceful natural setting. The rustic nature, including the lack of connected electricity and the hand pump water, might be a draw for those seeking a more off-grid experience while still having the shelter and basic comforts of a cabin.
For local users looking for a "camping near me" experience that blends the outdoors with cabin comfort in Northern Michigan, Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin offers a unique option. The propane amenities provide some conveniences, while the lack of electricity encourages a more traditional, nature-focused stay. The abundance of open space and the provided firewood enhance the outdoor experience. However, the significant presence of ticks is a crucial factor to be aware of and prepare for. The need to contact a park ranger for the entry code upon arrival is also a practical detail to note.
To obtain more information about Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin, such as booking procedures, water potability, and specific details about the entry code and park ranger contact, local users should consider reaching out to the relevant managing authority, likely the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or a similar state or local parks and recreation department. Searching online for "Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin Posen MI booking" might also yield additional details and booking platforms if the cabin is listed on any rental websites. By gathering more specific information, potential guests can determine if this rustic cabin meets their needs for a peaceful and nature-filled getaway in Northern Michigan, keeping in mind the need for tick precautions and alternative lighting.

Cedar Haven Rustic Cabin Reviews
Very clean, well maintained. The cabin was wired for electricity, but power was never run to the cabin. Make sure you have some electric lanterns. Bunk beds in the back room with thick foam pads (not great for side sleepers), and a loft space in the front room above the kitchenette w/propane stove top, and living room. Dining table with three chairs, propane fire place, and a couch. Hand pump water spigot outside. Outside fire pit, lots of firewood, very clean Vault toilet, and plenty of open space! Beware of lots of ticks, even when we weren't walking thru the grass we would find them on us. Very peaceful and quiet.
