Chestnut Lake Campground Introduce
For local users in the Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania area searching for "camping near me," Chestnut Lake Campground, located at 117 Chestnut Lake Rd, offers a lakeside camping experience with a variety of amenities. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground has been a beloved destination for many, particularly for its range of facilities and friendly atmosphere, although some recent changes in campsite availability have been noted.
The environment of Chestnut Lake Campground is centered around its namesake lake, providing a picturesque setting for camping and various water-related activities. One long-term visitor described it as a place they "both love," indicating an appealing natural environment. The presence of a beach suggests opportunities for swimming and enjoying the lakefront. Fishing spots around the lake further enhance the natural appeal for anglers. The mention of boat rentals implies that guests can explore the lake beyond the shore, adding another dimension to the camping experience. The campground also offers a playground for children, indicating a family-friendly environment. While one review noted a past availability of more "remote feeling tent sites" around the lake, recent changes have apparently shifted tent camping to an area "kind of near the bathrooms on the edge of their field," which some long-time visitors found less desirable due to reduced privacy. Despite this change, the core environment still revolves around the lake and the natural beauty of the Poconos region.
The services at Chestnut Lake Campground appear to be quite extensive, catering to a wide range of camping preferences and needs. The availability of newly renovated bathrooms is a significant plus for comfort and hygiene. The presence of a rec room suggests an indoor space for activities and socializing, particularly useful during inclement weather. The campground also offers amenities like a playground, catering to families with children. The fact that Wawa, Weis, and the local town are only a few minutes away adds a layer of convenience for campers needing groceries, supplies, or wanting to explore the local area. For those with recreational vehicles, one review from a first-time camper with a 39' RV mentioned having "more than enough room" to back into a site, indicating that the campground can accommodate larger campers. The positive feedback regarding the helpful and friendly staff at check-in suggests a commitment to good customer service, although one long-term visitor experienced disappointment with the recent changes in tent site allocation.
The features of Chestnut Lake Campground are numerous and varied. The lake itself is a primary feature, offering swimming, fishing, and boating opportunities (via rentals). The playground caters to children, making it a family-friendly destination. The rec room provides indoor entertainment options. The newly renovated bathrooms enhance the comfort of the stay. The proximity to local conveniences like grocery stores and the town adds to the practicality of camping at Chestnut Lake. A significant feature, at least historically, was the availability of "remote feeling tent sites" around the lake, offering a more private and immersive nature experience. However, a recent change in policy has apparently limited tent camping primarily to an open field area, which some visitors who specifically sought the more secluded lakeside spots found to be a drawback. Another feature that seems to have been discontinued, based on an edit to a review, is "rustic camping," which was something long-term visitors had enjoyed in the past. The campground's ability to accommodate large RVs is also a notable feature for those traveling with campers.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not contain any specific details about current offers or discounts at Chestnut Lake Campground. It is common for campgrounds to have seasonal rates, package deals, or special promotions, especially for local residents or during off-peak seasons. Local users interested in potential promotions should visit the campground's website (if available) or contact them directly via phone at (570) 992-6179 or mobile at +1 570-992-6179 to inquire about any current specials or deals. Given that the campground has a history of repeat visitors, it's possible they offer incentives for returning guests or for booking longer stays, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided text.
In conclusion, Chestnut Lake Campground in Brodheadsville, PA, offers a lakeside camping experience with a wide array of amenities, making it a potentially attractive option for local users searching for "camping near me" in the Poconos region. The campground boasts a lake for swimming, fishing, and boating, a playground for kids, a rec room, and newly renovated bathrooms. Its proximity to local conveniences is also a plus. However, prospective visitors, particularly those interested in tent camping, should be aware of a reported recent shift in campsite allocation, which has moved tent campers away from the more secluded lakeside spots to an open field, potentially impacting privacy. Additionally, the "rustic camping" option seems to have been discontinued. While the campground has been a beloved destination for many years, these recent changes might influence the experience for some. Local users are advised to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current availability and location of tent sites, the status of rustic camping, and any current promotional offers to ensure it meets their expectations for a "camping near me" experience.
For local families looking for "camping near me" with a variety of activities and amenities, Chestnut Lake Campground still appears to be a strong contender. The playground, beach, and rec room offer numerous options for entertainment. However, it would be prudent to confirm the current layout of tent sites if privacy is a significant concern. RV campers, on the other hand, seem to be well-accommodated with spacious sites. Overall, Chestnut Lake Campground offers a comprehensive camping experience in a scenic location, but potential guests should seek the most up-to-date information regarding campsite specifics to make an informed decision.
Ultimately, Chestnut Lake Campground provides a blend of natural beauty and extensive amenities that could appeal to a wide range of local campers seeking "camping near me" in the Brodheadsville area. While the recent changes in tent site allocation and the discontinuation of rustic camping are important considerations for returning visitors, the campground still offers a lot, including a lake for recreation and proximity to local conveniences. Direct communication with the campground is recommended to clarify any uncertainties and to ensure a satisfying camping trip.

Chestnut Lake Campground Reviews
My fiance and I have been coming back for about four or five years now for their tent camping. We both love the campground! There are a ton of amenities like a playground for kids, a beach for swimming, spots to fish around the lake, boat rentals, a rec room, newly renovated bathrooms, the list goes on!! Wawa, Weis and the local town are only a few minutes away for convenience. The staff & others staying there are very friendly too.The only thing is that they used to let us camp around the lake, but the past few Memorial Day weekends they only let us tent kind of near the bathrooms on the edge of their field. I understand a few bad apples can ruin it for everyone, but it just sucks for those who have been coming for years - specifically for their remote feeling tent sites that aren't right next to someone else. I hope it will go back to the old way someday. We will very like be back in a few months for their rustic camping if it is available.Edit: We tried to come back for the rustic camping, but unfortunately we were told they don't have it. Between having the camp sites at the open field where there is no privacy, and no more rustic camping, I think it might unfortunately be time for us to find a different campsite. It was a great couple of years though, we had great memories there. If they ever go back to the way it used to be, we'll surely be back.
Sep 17, 2024 · Melissa Moriarty BedawThis was our very first trip with a camper. I have a 39' camper and backed into sight with more than enough room. Everyone at check in were very helpful and friendly
Oct 22, 2024 · Michael TriolaSo many good things to say about this camp ground! Its a lovely place nothing over the top but a comfortable atmosphere! The lake is wonderfully very clean to cold when we were there for swimming but the grandkids enjoyed the fishing! They have tent sites all around the lake! A nice playground with plenty of open space for kids to burn off some energy! Love the street lamps adds such a nice touch. Management and staff super freindly and helpful!!
May 09, 2021 · Marge HuntWe stayed here for a night while traveling. Wonderful welcoming staff in the front office. Kind, friendly and welcoming other campers who are part of the permanent camping group. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the playground and splashing in the water. Definitely would recommend a stay if you are passing through and in the area.
Sep 21, 2024 · Stephanie JusticeMy Husband and I are new to camping this year and found CHESTNUT LAKE CAMPGROUND and we love it. It is in the woods but still close to shopping and other needs. The People we have met are amazing and helpful. The campground has a lake with a beach area, you can fish in the lake, boats to rent, a path around the lake which you can walk, game room, playground, volleyball and basketball in large grass area which would be great for picnics and other activities, onsite laundry and camp store. The bath house/Restrooms are maintained and very clean. Dogs are always welcome. Linda the owner is always very helpful. Be sure to check out this hidden gem when camping near the Pocono area.
