Beautiful location, its great camping among so many nice trees and there is always shade around camp. This campsite is very very close to the busy and very loud road and a loud roaring river right across it which made me nervous with young children and was quite noisy at night. We have camped in many campsites in this area and this year the bathrooms were not as clean as the swinging bridge campsite nearby has been most years. Toilet paper was often running low and the smell was worse than normal. Some positive things about the campsite is that it is a great middle location between river sections to raft! I however didnt like the the place to pull in the campground was around a bend in the road that makes it difficult to see cars coming quickly. The water pumps in camp are very convenient! - Kendra Monson

COLD SPRINGS CAMPGROUND - BOISE NF (recgovnpsdata) Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Cascade, Idaho, Cold Springs Campground, situated within the Boise National Forest along Forest Road 023B, presents a compelling option with both notable advantages and potential drawbacks. You can reach them at (541) 351-1182 or +1 541-351-1182 for any inquiries. Based on the available user reviews, Cold Springs Campground offers a picturesque setting with convenient access to recreational activities, but its proximity to certain elements might affect the overall camping experience for some.

One of the most significant positive aspects of Cold Springs Campground is its beautiful location characterized by an abundance of "nice trees" that provide ample shade throughout the campsite. This shaded environment is highly desirable, especially during warmer months, offering a cool and comfortable camping experience. The natural beauty of the area is clearly a major draw for visitors, creating an appealing backdrop for a getaway in the Boise National Forest.

A key feature of Cold Springs Campground, particularly attractive to adventure enthusiasts, is its strategic location as a "great middle location between river sections to raft!" This makes it an exceptionally convenient basecamp for those planning multi-day rafting trips on the nearby river. The easy access to different rafting put-in and take-out points is a significant advantage for this specific recreational activity, catering directly to the needs of the rafting community in the area.

Another convenience highlighted by a reviewer is the presence of "water pumps in camp," which are described as "very convenient!" Access to potable water within the campground is a significant amenity, reducing the need for campers to carry large quantities of water and enhancing the overall comfort and practicality of the camping experience.

However, potential campers should be aware of some significant drawbacks mentioned in the reviews. The campground is described as being "very very close to the busy and very loud road and a loud roaring river right across it." This proximity to both a heavily trafficked road and a noisy river resulted in a reviewer feeling "nervous with young children" and experiencing considerable noise at night. For those seeking a tranquil and quiet natural retreat, the noise levels from the road and river might be a significant deterrent.

Another concern raised by a recurring visitor is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. While acknowledging previous positive experiences at other nearby campgrounds like Swinging Bridge, the reviewer noted that "this year the bathrooms were not as clean as the swinging bridge campsite nearby has been most years." Specific issues mentioned include toilet paper frequently running low and a worse-than-normal smell. This suggests that the maintenance of the restroom facilities might be inconsistent, which could impact the overall comfort and hygiene of the camping experience.

Finally, a safety concern was raised regarding the campground's entrance. The reviewer noted that "the place to pull in the campground was around a bend in the road that makes it difficult to see cars coming quickly." This poses a potential hazard when entering or exiting the campground, particularly with larger vehicles or when traffic on the road is heavy. Campers should exercise extreme caution when navigating this entrance.

Despite these drawbacks, the beautiful location and the convenience for river rafting remain strong selling points for Cold Springs Campground. The presence of shade and accessible water pumps also contribute positively to the camping experience. However, local users considering this campground should carefully weigh the potential impact of the noise from the road and river, the potentially inconsistent cleanliness of the bathrooms, and the safety concerns regarding the entrance.

In conclusion, Cold Springs Campground in Boise National Forest offers a shaded and scenic camping environment with excellent access for river rafting enthusiasts. The convenient water pumps are an added bonus. However, its close proximity to a busy and loud road and a roaring river may detract from the peacefulness of the experience, and concerns have been raised about the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the safety of the campground entrance. For local users searching for "camping near me," Cold Springs Campground presents a mixed bag of advantages and disadvantages, and it is recommended to consider these factors carefully based on individual preferences and priorities for a camping trip near Cascade, Idaho. Checking recent reviews and potentially contacting the Boise National Forest for the latest information on campground conditions and any advisories might also be beneficial before making a reservation or heading to the site.
