The environment at Sage Hen Creek Campground is clearly a significant draw, with one camper stating, "I absolutely love Sage Hen, it's so beautiful and peaceful there." The presence of both shaded and sunny campsites allows visitors to choose according to their preference. The terrain of at least one site (site 15) suggests a natural, possibly slightly sloped environment, particularly in the driveway leading to the site. This site was noted for having good shade throughout the day and easy access in and out, making it suitable for tent campers or those with small RVs due to a non-uniformly flat driveway with a grade change indicated by a color difference. The darker part of the driveway was slightly uphill, while the lighter part was straight and level. For those, like the motocamper in the review, who prefer tent camping, there are good level spots available with plenty of room for parking a motorcycle. The overall ambiance seems to be one of tranquility and natural beauty, making it an appealing escape for those seeking a peaceful outdoor experience near Boise.
In terms of services, Sage Hen Creek Campground appears to provide essential amenities. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the restrooms were "clean and well stocked with toilet paper," which is a significant positive for any campground. Access to water is also convenient, as the water spigot was located right across the road from at least one campsite (site 15), making it very easy to obtain water. However, one negative experience was reported regarding a ranger who charged a visitor $10 for parking for 15 minutes while they scouted for a campsite and was also allegedly known for kicking dogs. This interaction, while isolated in the provided reviews, is something potential visitors might want to be aware of. The positive aspects highlighted include the cleanliness of the restrooms and the easy access to water at some sites.

For tent campers and those with small RVs, some sites, like site 15, offer good shade and relatively easy access, with level spots for tents. The convenient location of water spigots near some sites is also a plus. However, a potential negative feature to consider is the reported behavior of at least one ranger, which might impact the overall experience for some visitors, particularly those with pets or those needing to briefly park to assess the campground before selecting a site.
Promotional information isn't explicitly present in the reviews, but the enthusiastic endorsement of the campground's beauty and peacefulness by one reviewer ("I absolutely love Sage Hen") serves as a strong recommendation. Sage Hen Creek Campground Reviews
I absolutely love Sage Hen, it's so beautiful and peaceful there. Some sites offer a good amount of shade and some are in the sun. I stayed in site 15 and it was perfect. Had a good amount of shade the entire day and easy to get in and out of. It would be best for a tent camper or someone with a small rv as the driveway isn't flat the whole way. Where the driveway changes color is where the grade happens. The darker part is slanted slightly uphill and the lighter part is straight and level. I motocamped here and there was a good level spot for my tent and plenty of room to park the bike. The restrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper. The water spiket was right across the road from my site making it very easy to get water to my site. I'll definitely be going back agian.
Jun 04, 2023 · Mike SmithWe took my truck with a trailer and my wife’s car up to the campgrounds. I did want to get my trailer into an area that might be difficult to back out of so I parked in an open spot while I took my wife’s car to look for an area we wanted to stay. I came back to a nasty attitude ranger who charged me $10 for parking for 15 minute. Also found out from speaking to other campers she liked to kick dogs. Won’t go back.
Sep 22, 2023 · Frank McCombsCaterpillars killing all the trees, reservoir down several feet, smoke filled the air and the camp hosts do not clean anything, bathrooms were disgusting, camp sites were completely filthy from previous tenants.
Aug 12, 2018 · Chad BennettOmg leeches in the lake!!! I love sage hen, but not anymore. Cows in the campground, they didn't bother us.
Aug 19, 2024 · Catherine PartidaBest camping experience we've had in a couple of years! Very clean campground. Our neighbors were kind, quiet (even their dogs!) And respectful. Even the louder people at the other end of the campground were quiet during quiet hours. Almost everyone obeyed the leash law. Camp host Tim was wonderful!! He is Very kind, generous, diplomatic, informative and goes the extra mile for the campers. We'll be back!!
