Cottonwood Cove Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the southern Nevada region, Cottonwood Cove Campground, situated at 126 Cottonwood Cove Rd, Searchlight, NV 89046, USA, offers a location adjacent to Lake Mohave. The environment of a campground often plays a significant role in the overall camping experience, and Cottonwood Cove's proximity to a large body of water suggests potential for water-related activities and scenic views. However, it's important to consider all available information when evaluating a "camping near me" option.
Based on a user review, the campground environment includes areas that are "mostly gravel." This might impact the setup for tent campers and the overall aesthetics of the camping area. The location by Lake Mohave would typically imply opportunities for boating, fishing, and potentially swimming, although one review mentioned that "the lake was full of smelly algae," which could detract from the water-based recreational aspects. This observation suggests that the condition of the lake might vary and could be a factor to consider depending on the time of year.
Regarding services, the review provides some insights, although not comprehensively. It mentions that the reviewer "paid for two sites," indicating the campground has designated sites. The refusal to allow a "small tent next to the rv" despite the camp being "half empty" suggests specific rules regarding the setup of additional tents within a paid RV site. The reviewer also noted that "the WiFi barely functions," which could be a drawback for those needing internet access during their stay. Standard campground services often include restrooms, water access, and possibly hookups for RVs (electricity, water, sewer), but these are not detailed in the provided review. The mention of driving "back up a 6% grade for 14 miles" to return to a main route gives some context to the campground's location relative to major highways.
One particularly concerning review makes alarming claims about the behavior of people in the camp, alleging they "were behaving strangely," looking "like zombies," and physically attacking the reviewer. This review also claims that "the radiation level is quite high." These are serious allegations that would significantly impact the perception of the campground's environment and safety. While it's important to present all available information objectively, such claims should be viewed with caution unless corroborated by other sources or official warnings.
Features that can be inferred include its location by Lake Mohave, which typically offers water-based recreation (subject to the condition of the lake). The presence of RV sites is confirmed by the review. The surrounding area might offer natural beauty, given its proximity to a large lake in Nevada, which often includes desert landscapes and mountainous terrain. However, the specific features of the campground itself (e.g., hiking trails, recreational areas, etc.) are not detailed in the provided reviews.
Promotional information is absent from the provided text. Typically, campgrounds might offer discounts for extended stays, seasonal promotions, or special rates for locals, but there is no such information available in these reviews. To find out about any potential promotions at Cottonwood Cove Campground, it would be necessary to check their official website or contact them directly.
In summary, Cottonwood Cove Campground is located near Lake Mohave in Searchlight, NV. One review describes a mostly gravel environment and issues with following rules regarding tent setup, as well as poorly functioning WiFi and algae in the lake. Another review raises very serious and concerning allegations about the safety and environment of the campground, including claims of strange behavior, attacks, and high radiation levels. These contrasting and concerning reports suggest that potential visitors should exercise caution and seek additional, reliable information before making a decision to stay here.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Cottonwood Cove's lakeside location might initially seem appealing. However, the issues raised in the reviews, particularly the serious safety concerns, warrant thorough investigation and consideration. It would be prudent to look for more recent and diverse reviews from multiple sources to get a balanced and accurate understanding of the current conditions and environment at Cottonwood Cove Campground.
Given the information available, a recommendation cannot be made without significant reservations. Local users should prioritize their safety and comfort when choosing a "camping near me" location and should seek further information about Cottonwood Cove Campground from official sources or recent, trustworthy reviews before considering a visit.

Cottonwood Cove Campground Reviews
Very disappointed. Been on a road trip from Sedona az to San Jose Ca with my two daughters and six grandkids. The campground is mostly gravel, and although we paid for two sites and the camp was half empty they refused to let us set up a small tent next to the rv so we could be together for one night. In addition the WiFi barely functions and the lake was full of smelly algae. Today I need to drive back up a 6% grade for 14 miles to get back on the road to Death Valley.
Oct 17, 2024 · Douglas SchwartzPeople in the camp were behaving strangely Many of them had dry skin and looked like zombies. When they saw me, they ran towards me and attacked me. I barely saved my life Additionally, the radiation level is quite high.
Jul 13, 2024 · Mehmet ErginThis used to be one of our favorite places to vacation, that has all changed over the past few years. The roads are almost completely deteriorated, and drinking water has an awful taste. The park is being overrun with day use campers that destroy the campground and leave litter everywhere. The Park Rangers follow the residents and campground guests around hassling them for anything possible. Sadly this will be our last season, it has become more trouble than enjoyment.
May 30, 2022 · JBOne star is actually a gift. First of all, the entire property is built on a hillside so good luck with leveling. To say that the sites are rocky is the least of the matter. Strewn with boulders and gutted with ruts is closer. There's been zero in the way of maintenance here. And don't discount tire damage. Who do you suppose will pay for that? Maybe you can beg for your $40 dollar refund. Oh, and the campground? It was empty on a Sunday afternoon for the same reasons listed above.
Jan 17, 2022 · Fritzwilliam BOrchestrated chaos in a good way. But WiFi and internet service suck. Seriously. But there's a whole lake with more family fun available than internet. Don't forget to clean your anchors, pull your plugs to drain your water, and dry interior wells and compartments. Don't move mussels.
