Crazy Horse Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident in search of "camping near me" in the Brodhead, Wisconsin area? Crazy Horse Campground, located at N3201 Crazy Horse Ln, Brodhead, WI 53520, USA, offers a variety of features that might appeal to families and those looking for a mix of relaxation and activities. You can reach them by phone at (608) 897-2207 or their mobile number, +1 608-897-2207.
Crazy Horse Campground aims to provide a comprehensive camping experience with a range of amenities and activities. Based on the available customer reviews, the environment is generally well-maintained, and the campground offers specific events that can enhance a stay. However, some feedback suggests potential drawbacks to consider. Let's explore the details to help you decide if this "camping near me" option is right for you.
Environment:
One reviewer described the campground as "well maintained" and specifically noted "very level RV grass spots" that made setup quick and easy. This suggests that the grounds are cared for and that at least the RV sites are well-prepared for campers. The presence of grass spots can contribute to a pleasant camping environment.
The campground also features a "man made lake," which is highlighted as "the best thing to do" by one reviewer. This indicates a water feature that likely serves as a central point for recreation within the campground. Lakes often provide opportunities for swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the waterfront.
The mention of a "petting zoo" suggests that the environment also includes space for animal interaction, which can be particularly appealing to families with young children.
Services and Amenities:
Crazy Horse Campground offers a range of services and amenities, although some customer feedback indicates potential changes over time. One positive aspect mentioned is a "cool camera system that checks your license plate," which suggests a focus on security within the campground.
For families with young children, the petting zoo appears to be a significant amenity, providing an engaging activity for kids. The campground also seems to organize special events, as evidenced by the "Halloween days" which included a DJ playing Halloween music and "truck or treating," activities enjoyed by both children and adults.
However, one long-term visitor noted a perceived decrease in the number of things to do at the campground over the years. They specifically mentioned the man-made lake lacking "real amenities" like slides, blowups, or fountains. This suggests that while the lake is a feature, it might not have extensive recreational additions.
The campground also offers "tubing," which is mentioned as a "cool" activity. However, the same reviewer pointed out the absence of kayaks and double tubes, which they felt made it harder for families with little ones to enjoy the water activities together.
Basic camping amenities such as restrooms, showers, and potentially laundry facilities are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, so it would be advisable to inquire about these when contacting the campground.
Features:
A key feature of Crazy Horse Campground seems to be its family-friendly atmosphere, particularly during special events like the Halloween celebration. The petting zoo is another notable feature that caters to younger campers.
The man-made lake is a central feature for recreation, offering opportunities for swimming and tubing. The level RV grass spots are a feature appreciated by RV campers for ease of setup.
The security camera system for license plates is a feature that might appeal to those concerned about campground security.
However, the perceived reduction in activities for adults and kids, along with the lack of certain water recreation equipment like kayaks and double tubes, could be seen as a drawback by some.
Promotional Information:
The provided text does not contain specific promotional information such as discounts or special packages, aside from the mention of their "Halloween days" event. To learn about any current promotions, it would be best to check their website (if available) or contact them directly via phone.
Summary of Customer Feedback:
Customer reviews present a somewhat mixed view. One reviewer had a "blast" during the Halloween event, praising the well-maintained grounds, level RV spots, petting zoo, and Halloween activities. This suggests that during special events, the campground can offer a very positive experience, especially for families.
However, another long-term visitor expressed disappointment, noting a perceived decline in the number of activities and feeling that the cost no longer justified the experience compared to other options. They highlighted the lake as the best feature but noted its lack of amenities. The absence of kayaks and double tubes for tubing was also mentioned as a negative.
These reviews indicate that while Crazy Horse Campground has appealing aspects, particularly for families with young children and during special events, some visitors feel it may be becoming expensive relative to the amenities offered.
For Local Users Seeking "Camping Near Me":
If you are a local resident of Brodhead or the surrounding areas looking for "camping near me," Crazy Horse Campground offers a location with some appealing features, especially if you have young children or enjoy holiday-themed camping events like their Halloween days. The well-maintained grounds, particularly the level RV spots, are a plus for RV campers.
The petting zoo provides a unique attraction for kids, and the man-made lake offers a central point for water-based fun, including tubing. However, if you are looking for a campground with extensive lake amenities like slides or fountains, or a wide variety of watercraft like kayaks and double tubes, you might find the offerings here limited.
The cost seems to be a point of concern for at least one long-term visitor, who felt it was becoming too expensive for what is offered. Therefore, it would be wise to inquire about the current rates and compare them to other "camping near me" options in the area.
In conclusion, Crazy Horse Campground could be a good option for local families, especially those interested in events like the Halloween celebration and the petting zoo. However, potential campers should weigh the cost against the available amenities and consider that some long-time visitors have perceived a decrease in activities over time. Contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on amenities, activities, and pricing is recommended to make an informed decision about your "camping near me" experience.

Crazy Horse Campground Reviews
Went for their Halloween days and it was a blast! Campgrounds well maintained, very level RV grass spots that it was a quick set up. We have a 2 year old and she had a great time at the petting zoo and the DJ playing Halloween music. Truck or treating was a fun time for the little one and the adults as well. Will be returning again!
Oct 06, 2024 · IKnoThatGuyThe Campground is decent. Every year they seem to have less and less things to do there. The man made lake is the best thing to do, but no real amenities, no slides or blowups or fountains. We went on Labor Day, and most of the Labor Day party things are gone. A lot of the sites are now empty, probably due to how expensive it is to go there now. They have a cool camera system that checks your license plate, but no updates to activities for the adults or kids. They offer tubing which is cool, but there are no more kayaks and no double tubes making it hard with little ones.I would recommend this place if it was half the cost. We have a very large group and had been going for 7 years and this was our last year. We found a place that has the equivalent amenities in a better location for half the cost.
Sep 02, 2024 · wanna knowThis was our 2nd time there and we love it. The owners take such good care of this place. They have a new office/store that is really nice. They even serve some food. We love that it is on the Sugar River not only for the beauty but we like to fish. We will be going back with our grown children and grand kids.
Oct 20, 2024 · Janet NeuThis was our first stay. We had a premium site near the beach. The sizes of the sites are exactly what I like. Plenty of room to spread out while not being on top of our neighbors. They had plenty for the kids and all facilities were very clean and well maintained. We will put this on our “Come back to” list for sure. The beach and swimming area was great and my daughter loved it.
Sep 15, 2024 · Rob MooreThird time staying at this wonderful campground. The cleanliness is beyond words. So well kept. The staff membersthat keep the campground so clean are so kind. The camp sites are nice and big. Sewer hookups are phenomenal on sites that weren't there a year ago. This was an added bonus for our favorite site 317. Lastly, we really appreciate how campground rules are defined and fairly implemented.
