This private campground, owned and operated by the Lake Summerset Association, provides a simple, quiet, and clean environment with a focus on maintaining a respectful community of campers. It’s important to note upfront that access to this campground is restricted to Lake Summerset members and their invited guests, making it a unique offering within the local camping options. While a direct phone number for the campsite itself isn't provided in the reviews, inquiries can likely be directed through the Lake Summerset Association.
A Private and Peaceful Environment for Members and Guests
The defining characteristic of Lake Summerset Campsite is its exclusivity to Lake Summerset members and their guests. This private nature contributes significantly to the campground's environment, fostering a sense of community and mutual respect among campers. One reviewer described it as "simple, quiet, clean" and noted the "nice spacing between campsites." This suggests a well-maintained and tranquil setting where campers can enjoy a peaceful outdoor experience without the potential for overcrowding or disruptive behavior sometimes found in public campgrounds.
The fact that "campers tend to be more respectful than some other campgrounds" further underscores the benefits of its private status. This can lead to a more enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere for everyone staying at Lake Summerset Campsite.
The environment is also family-friendly, with amenities catering to both children and adults. The availability of a "Children's playground apparatus as well as adult exercise equipment" indicates a commitment to providing recreational opportunities for all age groups within the campground.
While the natural surroundings of Lake Summerset itself are not detailed in these specific reviews, being part of a lake association suggests proximity to water-based recreational activities, although these might be separate from the campsite amenities themselves.
Well-Maintained Facilities with Considerations for Older Infrastructure
Lake Summerset Campsite boasts "excellent" "Wash House facilities" with "convenient showers and bathroom fixtures." This positive feedback highlights the quality and upkeep of these essential amenities, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic experience for campers. Clean and well-maintained restrooms and showers are often a top priority for campers, and Lake Summerset Campsite seems to excel in this area.
However, one reviewer noted that "The sites were designed and equipped for electric and water in the seventies so they are in several cases very tight or small." This is an important consideration for potential users, particularly those with larger RVs or needing more space. The older infrastructure might present challenges in terms of site size and layout for modern camping setups.
Looking to the future, the same reviewer mentioned that "expansion is planned for 50 amp service on longer sites that will be available in 2020." While this information is from a past review, it indicates an awareness of the need for upgrades to accommodate larger RVs and more demanding electrical needs. Local members and guests should inquire with the Lake Summerset Association about the current status of these planned expansions and the availability of updated sites.
Limited On-Site Supplies with Nearby Convenience
A key piece of information for potential campers is that "There are no facilities for purchase of any supplies" within the campground itself. This means that campers need to come prepared with all necessary provisions, including food, fuel, and camping gear. However, convenience is relatively close by, as a "Convenience store and gas station is located about a half mile from the campground." This proximity offers a quick solution for basic necessities that might have been forgotten or need to be replenished.
For more extensive shopping needs or medical facilities, the reviewer noted that these are "about 20 miles away." This is important to keep in mind for longer stays or in case of emergencies.
