Cross Winds Family Campground Introduce
For local residents of North Carolina and those in neighboring areas searching for "camping near me," Cross Winds Family Campground, located at 160 Campground Ln in Linwood (zip code 27299), offers a promising destination based on recent customer reviews. These testimonials highlight the friendly and helpful nature of the owners/operators, the cleanliness and upkeep of the grounds, and the convenience of amenities such as propane refill at reasonable prices.
The environment of Cross Winds Family Campground appears to be well-maintained, with one reviewer noting that even the sites occupied by permanent or longer-term residents are "pretty neatly kept up." The campground offers level and spacious sites, capable of accommodating larger recreational vehicles, as one reviewer with a 44ft Momentum Toy Hauler confirmed they could comfortably fit their truck and RV, with room to lower the back deck. The sites are also described as being plenty wide for slide-outs and awnings, and typically include a picnic table, fire ring, and trash can.
In terms of services and features, Cross Winds Family Campground seems to prioritize convenience and a welcoming atmosphere. The availability of propane refill on-site, at prices comparable to locations further away, is a significant advantage for campers relying on propane for cooking or heating. While one reviewer mentioned being self-contained in their RV and thus not utilizing the bathhouses or other facilities, they did observe an open space building near the pool and bathhouses where a community gathering of elders appeared to be taking place in the evening, suggesting a sense of community within the campground.
Another reviewer specifically mentioned the presence of a pool and a laundry room, adding to the list of available amenities. The office is described as a "neat and very well kept" farmhouse, indicating attention to detail in maintaining the campground's facilities. While the pool was noted as closed during an April visit (off-season), its presence suggests a recreational option for warmer months.
The reviews provide insights into the general atmosphere of the campground. One reviewer who stayed for a week in April mentioned a few celebrations occurring but noted that everyone was respectful and kept to themselves, contributing to peaceful evenings. They also recounted a heartwarming interaction with a neighbor who shared "magic fire dust" with their children, highlighting a friendly and community-oriented environment. While the same reviewer observed that the majority of guests appeared to be in the 50-65 age range, they also noted the presence of some older and younger individuals, as well as a few children, indicating a potentially diverse guest population.
One potential drawback mentioned in a review is the proximity to the interstate, resulting in the constant sound of passing cars and trucks. Local users sensitive to noise might want to consider this factor when choosing a campsite within the campground, as some areas might be more affected by highway noise than others.
Despite the highway noise, the overall sentiment in the reviews is positive. One reviewer, a full-time RV couple who have visited several campgrounds within a 45-minute radius, stated that Cross Winds Family Campground is "nowhere near as nice" as the others they've experienced and expressed their intention to return. They also praised the levelness and accommodating nature of the majority of the campsites and noted that the roads throughout the property are smooth enough for even a car to navigate without issues.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in the Linwood, NC, area, Cross Winds Family Campground appears to be a well-regarded option. Its strengths include friendly and helpful owners, clean and well-maintained grounds, spacious and level campsites suitable for various sizes of RVs, and convenient amenities like propane refill, a pool, and a laundry room. While proximity to the interstate may result in some noise, the positive experiences shared by multiple reviewers, including the sense of community and the quality of the facilities, suggest that Cross Winds Family Campground offers a pleasant and convenient camping experience for both short and extended stays. Local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly at (336) 853-4567 or +1 336-853-4567 for any specific inquiries about site availability, pricing, or potential promotional offers, although no specific promotions were mentioned in the provided reviews.

Cross Winds Family Campground Reviews
We stayed for a week in April and enjoyed being there. The folks that own/run the place are very nice! If you need propane while there, it’s actually just as reasonable as the place we usually refill which is over 30 min away. That was a pleasant surprise and we expressed how thankful we were for the fair prices and convenience. We stayed in site D-20 which had just one site between us and some dear friends of ours who were set up on the 3-camper buddy sites to celebrate a 40th birthday. There were a few celebrations going on that night, but everybody was keeping to themselves and being respectful while celebrating. The neighbor between us and our friends sites noticed we had the kiddos by the fire in their wheelchairs having a good time and he brought us some color changing “magic fire dust” (the kids liked that name) that he found while cleaning that day. That was a nice gesture and both of the boys loved watching the fire change colors! Evenings were quiet, things were peaceful. There are some permanent/longer term folks in there but they are pretty neatly kept up sites. Pool was obviously closed for the off season. Can’t speak on bathhouses or any facilities as we are 100% self contained to fully function in our RV. There did appear to be an open space building near the pool and bathhouses that I noticed had some elders in there one evening when we came in just as it was getting darker & I could see inside. Looked like a little community event or gathering for them. The farm house (office) is neat and very well kept. We are in our 40s/50s and I would say most of what we observed were primarily folks age 50-65 but there were some older/some younger there and maybe a handful of kids around ages 5-14 we saw around there the week we stayed. We were only in town to take in the scenery every other day (late nights, actually) as we are a trucking couple & run multiple trips per week. We will be back, as we didn’t get to enjoy nearly as much of the place as we wanted to but we are thankful to have found a place we would return to! We’ve visited several other campgrounds within 45 minutes of Cross Winds and they’re nowhere near as nice as this one. Our Momentum Toy Hauler is 44ft and this space accommodates our truck & RV with room to let down the back deck for use- if you get it situated just right with your hookups and all too. LEVEL SPOT, plenty wide for slides and awnings. Picnic table, fire ring & trash can on site. We drove through and made a list of sites we could utilize in the future, and I will say that the vast majority of the sites are level and pretty accommodating for medium-larger units. Roads throughout the property are smooth enough I could even drive my Charger one night I needed to, and no issues getting in our site either. Can’t wait to come back and actually be able to get the motorcycle out and ride around the area one day we’re in town and staying there again. Sorry for the novel, but I like honest and informative reviews myself so I had to share, especially since it’s hard to find a decent campground these days. #fulltimeRVcouple #happy campers
Apr 28, 2025 · RoadGlideWifeyMy wife and I chose crosswinds family camp ground for a week-long.Stay the location was decent. It's kind of close to the interstate so you're constantly hearing the cars and trucks roaring down the highway. It is a very clean camp group They keep it up very well The camping spots are large, It easy to back into or pull through the management. Keeps the ground clean and there are very nice people. They do have a pool and laundry room. So that was nice. They do fill propane tanks as well In the price for the Propane is better than some other establishments around the area. I would definitely.Recommend cross winds family campground If you're looking for a One night or extended stay for you and your family. We are definitely gonna be staying with them again.
Feb 21, 2025 · Will LawhornThis place was super quiet. We had lots of room to ourselves and the hook ups were some of the best we've seen. The playground was big enough for our 13 year old to play on. The fishing pond had great access and the ducks were sooo cute. Checking in was great and the lady at the desk even recommended a great place to eat.
Feb 03, 2025 · Kelsea MccoyComment 1.Beware of CrossWinds Linwood, NC!!!!! Just left early because the second person RUDELY approached us as we entered our site. Not to help us but complain. When we arrived yesterday there was a car on our site. We didn't say a word. As I'm trying to put the slide out an older gentlemen (the owner) comes to the door to tell me my dog pooped. Well that's what dogs do when they've been traveling. Told me to get it up. I informed him as soon as we got set up we would. Now today we pull back in from exploring and another man comes running down can he help us???? Why we just pulled back in from shopping? We have a mirror tag and everything. He says we went blowing by him. I've seen kids on electric scooters going faster than us. Whatever dude! Who blows in a campground in a brand new RV!!!. And just pulls in and starts setting up electric and water. Unless you want to be harassed until you leave and lose your money stay away!!!! Part 2 of this comment.I am the 2nd side to the story. Everyone has various experiences at all campgrounds and in my 40 plus years of camping l have never been approached in the manner l was today by these people. Yesterday l had a conversation and deescalated the issue yesterday with a employee. However, today to have someone rush down to meet me after l came back in from exploring with a attitude is not ok and to be asked if l checked in yesterday? Of course l did . I follow the cardinal rule of leave as you came! So yes l will always pick up my animals droppings and as well l do not speed in a campground. No more than 5 mins on arrival each entrance of being approached with attitudes is not ok.
Apr 06, 2025 · Dawn StonemanThis was a fun campground for us and the kids. Lots of sites with full-hookup. Playground is a little rough, but the kids loved it! Great family friendly atmosphere and the people were so nice. They are adding lots of new camping sites with a view soon too!
