Crow's Nest Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a peaceful and conveniently located camping experience in the 'camping near me' category, Crow's Nest Campground, situated at 529 S Main St, Newport, NH 03773, USA, offers a charming option. According to recent customer reviews, Crow's Nest Campground provides a tranquil atmosphere along the Sugar River, coupled with clean facilities and ongoing improvements under new ownership. Its proximity to both natural attractions and local amenities makes it an appealing choice for a relaxing and engaging getaway close to home.
The environment at Crow's Nest Campground is consistently described as quiet, making it an ideal destination for those looking to disconnect and enjoy a more serene camping experience. Its location directly on the Sugar River offers opportunities for swimming and fishing, allowing guests to enjoy the water and the natural surroundings. The presence of mature trees likely provides shade and contributes to the peaceful ambiance of the campground. For nature enthusiasts, the surrounding area boasts additional attractions, including three covered bridges, a rail trail perfect for running or biking, and various hiking trails, all easily accessible from the campground.
One long-time visitor, who has been camping at Crow's Nest for about eight years and as a seasonal camper for two, specifically appreciates its smaller and quieter nature. This suggests that the campground offers a more intimate and less crowded experience compared to larger camping destinations. The well-maintained seasonal sites further contribute to the overall positive environment, indicating a community of campers who take pride in their spaces and the campground as a whole.
Under new ownership as of the current year (based on the reviews), Crow's Nest Campground is undergoing several upgrades aimed at enhancing the guest experience. One notable addition is an arcade located in the barn, providing a fun entertainment option for both kids and adults. This new feature adds to the recreational opportunities available within the campground itself. Additionally, the new owners are also undertaking site renovations, suggesting a commitment to improving the camping spaces and overall infrastructure of the campground.
A crucial aspect of any camping experience is the cleanliness of the facilities, and Crow's Nest Campground receives positive feedback in this regard. Both reviews specifically mention that the bathrooms and showers are kept very clean. This attention to hygiene contributes significantly to the comfort and satisfaction of campers, ensuring a more pleasant and worry-free stay.
Beyond the campground itself, its location offers a unique blend of natural beauty and convenient access to local amenities. Just a short drive away is the Lake/Mt. Sunapee/Adventure Park area, a popular destination offering a wide range of activities. This proximity allows campers at Crow's Nest to easily explore the scenic Lake Sunapee, enjoy the recreational opportunities at Mount Sunapee (which can include hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter, although not explicitly mentioned in the context of the campground), and experience the fun of the Adventure Park. This provides a wealth of options for day trips and excursions from the campground.
Furthermore, Crow's Nest Campground boasts the advantage of being located within five minutes of downtown Newport. This provides easy access to a grocery store and all essential amenities, allowing campers to conveniently stock up on supplies or access local services without a long drive. This "best of both worlds" scenario – a quiet natural setting combined with nearby urban conveniences – is a significant draw for many campers.
For those interested in outdoor activities beyond the campground itself, the Sugar River offers opportunities for swimming and fishing directly on-site. The nearby golf course provides a chance for golf enthusiasts to enjoy a round. The three covered bridges in the area offer scenic and historical points of interest to explore. The rail trail is ideal for those who enjoy running or biking in a picturesque setting, and the various hiking trails cater to different fitness levels and preferences for exploring the local landscape.
While the overall sentiment in the reviews is highly positive, one long-time camper did mention a desire for more reliable Wi-Fi and the addition of more live music or DJs on weekends. These suggestions, however, are framed as minor preferences and do not detract from their overall enjoyment of the campground. The fact that they have been returning for many years and are seasonal campers speaks volumes about the positive experience Crow's Nest Campground offers.

Crow's Nest Campground Reviews
Great week of camping!! We’ve done a father/son trip here for 5 years now and it’s a great way to disconnect. New owners as of this year and already making some upgrades including an arcade in the barn and site renovations, and bathrooms/showers are kept very clean. Weather is the x-factor, but if it holds out it is truly a great way to relax, and Lake/Mt. Sunapee/Adventure Park is only a short drive away.Grocery store and all amenities are within five minutes downtown, you get the best of both worlds. Thanks again!
Aug 04, 2024 · Bruce WoloskiWe've been going here for about 8 years and have been seasonal campers for 2. It is a smaller, quiet camp ground which I like. Lots of activities on the weekend. It is on the sugar river so you can swim or fish. There is a golf course nearby, 3 covered bridges, rail trail for running or biking and hiking trails. We really enjoy it. New owners this year are trying to make some updates. I'd like to see more reliable wifi. More live music or djs would be good, but that's minor. We love it here!
Aug 23, 2024 · Mike ProvencherGreat option for younger kids. Well kept grounds. Pool, mini-golf, and small pavilion area with an arcade. Just the right amount of entertainment. Some of the tent sites are pretty small. Seasonal renters are friendly. Staff was great. Good location: it's only about a 15 minute drive to decent hiking and Lake Sunapee.
Jul 15, 2024 · Pat CannyHave stayed 2-3 times. The Owners have Your Best Interest held 1st! They keep everyone safe so all can have a great time. My favorite is being on the river camping with my therapy pup. Amazing Time… Extremely Peaceful… Stunning Views and Plenty to Do on site 🥳🙏🏼💖
Mar 18, 2024 · Renee CollinsI tried multiple times contacting the campground after booking a site to move it to another weekend with no call back or email reply. My partner and I ended up going there for the day, we brought up to the girl at the front desk how our call wasn’t returned. She kindly explained the phone there is forwards to “one of the four owners who are not around right now”. She said the message would be passed on. Still, no call back. There’s zero accountability and communication here. Take your business elsewhere, if someone comes up rescheduling a site is damn near impossible here. Would never come back 0/10Edit: the girl at the front desk said this has been a more common occurrence of people not hearing back from staff when it came to questions and concerns. I called THREE times and left a voicemail. My partner sent an email as well.
