The environment of Crystal Lake Campground is a significant draw for visitors. The campground boasts beautiful wooded sites, providing a sense of immersion in nature and a peaceful ambiance often described as feeling like "camping in a forest." This creates a serene backdrop for your camping experience, allowing you to relax and connect with the natural surroundings. In addition to the wooded areas, the campground features a lovely beach area, offering opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the picturesque views of Crystal Lake.
One of the key features of Crystal Lake Campground is the availability of various recreational activities. For those who enjoy being on the water, the campground offers rentals of paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes at reasonable prices. While jet skis have been observed docked, it is not explicitly stated whether they are available for rent. The provision of life jackets for all sizes underscores the campground's commitment to safety during water activities. Furthermore, for indoor entertainment, a game room equipped with pool tables and air hockey is located in the building on the beach, providing a fun option during inclement weather or for evening amusement.
Families with children will appreciate the numerous amenities designed to keep kids active and entertained. Near the beach area, you'll find several play structures, including a couple of kids' playsets with slides, a four-person teeter-totter/seesaw, and a swing set. While a baby swing was not specifically noted, the array of other play options ensures that younger children will have plenty to enjoy. For sports enthusiasts, the campground features a sand volleyball court and a concrete basketball court, offering opportunities for friendly competition and physical activity.
The presence of a small dock near the beach provides not only access to the water but also serves as a scenic spot to capture stunning views, particularly during sunrise and sunset. Campers at Crystal Lake Campground generally appreciate the respectful atmosphere, with visitors adhering to quiet hours, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep for everyone. It is important to be aware of a specific policy: access to the beach, water, and all the campground amenities is contingent upon renting a campsite. However, visitors have generally found the campsite rental fees to be fairly priced, considering the range of facilities and the overall quality of the experience offered.
While the vast majority of staff members are described as nice and welcoming, one review mentions a negative experience with a specific manager, noting that this has been an ongoing issue with repeated complaints. While this feedback should be acknowledged, the reviewer still recommends visiting the campground for a peaceful experience, advising to avoid interaction with this particular individual if possible. This isolated negative comment appears to be an exception to the generally positive feedback regarding the staff.
In conclusion, Crystal Lake Campground presents itself as an excellent choice for local users seeking "camping near me," particularly families and nature lovers in the Scottville, Michigan area. Its beautiful wooded campsites, coupled with a range of amenities including a beach, watercraft rentals, a game room, and sports facilities, offer a diverse and enjoyable camping experience. Crystal Lake Campground Reviews
Highly recommend this campground for family camping as well as just getting away from the daily chaos! I’ve been here several times throughout the years (with and without kids) and it’s always such a blast! The team on-site are very friendly and helpful. The restrooms, showers, campsites, and beach area are always clean! They offer rental paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes for very reasonable prices (I saw Jet-skis parked at the dock as well but I’m not sure if they rent those out). They have life jackets for all sizes and a game room with pool tables and air hockey (located in the building on the beach)!Near the beach area are several things to keep the kiddos and families active! There are a couple of kids play sets with slides, a 4 person teeter totter/seesaw and a swing set (don’t recall seeing a baby swing for younger kiddos but I also didn’t look for one). There’s a sand volleyball court, concrete basketball court, and a small dock that makes for some amazing views/portraits at sunrise/sunset.Everyone respects each other’s privacy and settles down during the quiet hours. All the basic campsites I’ve rented had fire pits and picnic tables with water/electric (no issues). The road is pretty smooth and well maintained.Note: You must rent a campsite to access the beach, water, and amenities but they are fairly priced!
Aug 08, 2024 · Christen HernandezBeautiful wooded sites. You feel like you are camping in a forrest. Very peaceful. The beach is nice. Kayaking Crystal Lake was lovely. Most staff were nice. One lady who is a manager is not at all welcoming or nice and apparently this is an on going issue as they get constant complaints about her.If you can avoid her, definitely go and have a very peaceful camping experience.

Feb 22, 2025 · RichardWonderful family friendly campground! The owner is always kind anytime we've camped here. The bathhouse isnt the greatest but I'm not here to spend hrs. In the restroom so it doesnt bother me any! The beach is so gorgeous and they offer fun activities too (paddle boats, kayaks, mini golfing, and there's a pool table room too!) The best place to come to relax and enjoy nature!
Aug 07, 2019 · Kelsey DeweerdtReservations were a little mixed up from a former employee. But the lady worked so hard to make sure we could get a site that would work for my size trailer and near our group.Sites are very tree covered (nice for hot hot days). Swimming area was nice. Bathrooms/Showers were well cared for. Arcade room lacked but the playground and basketball court made up for it. Dog friendly. Not "rowdy". Owners were very helpful and friendly.Overall great place to stay for a great price. We will be back.
