Cartier Park Campground, located at 1254 N Lakeshore Dr, Ludington, MI 49431, USA, offers a promising camping experience near Lincoln Lake and just a couple of miles from town. You can reach them at (231) 845-1522 or +1 231-845-1522 for inquiries and reservations. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground boasts new facilities, convenient access to local amenities and trails, and a lakeside environment, making it a noteworthy option for local campers.
The environment of Cartier Park Campground benefits from its proximity to Lincoln Lake. One reviewer mentions that it "is in the Lincoln lake," indicating potential access to the lake for various water activities, although the specifics aren't detailed. The campground also features a "paved walking/bike path that is adjacent to the campground" and a "mountain bike trail," suggesting opportunities for outdoor recreation right from the campsite. While some sites might lack shade, others offer it, giving campers a choice depending on their preference. One reviewer advises visiting the different sites to "hand pick yours," noting that some can be unlevel or oddly shaped, implying a varied terrain within the campground. The proximity to North Lakeshore Drive does mean that sites up front might experience "loud" traffic, especially early in the morning, so choosing a site further in might offer a quieter experience. Despite this, the overall environment seems conducive to an enjoyable outdoor stay, with the added benefit of being close to both nature and the town of Ludington.
In terms of services, Cartier Park Campground shines, particularly with its new facilities. Both reviewers specifically praise the "brand new showers and bathrooms," describing them as "super clean" and "super nice." This modern bathhouse is a significant upgrade and a major draw for campers who appreciate clean and well-maintained facilities. The campground offers options ranging from "rustic to full hook up at a reasonable price," catering to different camping needs, whether you prefer a more basic setup or require full amenities for your RV. Management is described as "very nice & helpful," indicating a positive and supportive service from the staff. While one reviewer noted "no other entertainment" besides a playground, this might be perfectly acceptable for those seeking a quieter camping experience focused on enjoying the natural surroundings and nearby attractions.
The features of Cartier Park Campground include its convenient location "only a couple miles from town," making it easy to access local amenities, restaurants, and shops. The adjacent "paved walking/bike path" and the presence of a "mountain bike trail" are significant features for those who enjoy active recreation. The playground caters to families with children. The availability of both "shade or sun sites" allows campers to choose based on their preference. One reviewer mentioned that with the state park closed, Cartier Park Campground serves as a "very good alternative," suggesting it offers comparable or complementary features to the state park experience. While one reviewer noted that "sites are small, no privacy unless you are on the outer loops," the outer loops seem to be mostly occupied by seasonal campers, so this might be a consideration when selecting a site.
Regarding promotional information, the positive reviews highlighting the new, clean facilities, helpful management, and reasonable rates serve as strong endorsements. The campground's proximity to Lincoln Lake, the availability of trails, and its closeness to Ludington town are also attractive features promoted through the reviewers' experiences. For local users searching for "camping near me," the fact that it's a good alternative to the state park (when closed) is a significant promotional point. To inquire about specific rates, site availability, or any seasonal promotions, contacting them directly at (231) 845-1522 would be the best way to get the most up-to-date information.
Considering the "camping near me" category often includes the availability of goods for sale, the reviews for Cartier Park Campground do not explicitly mention an on-site store. However, given its proximity to the town of Ludington (just a couple of miles away), campers would likely have easy access to various stores to purchase camping supplies, groceries, and other necessities. When you call to make inquiries, you could ask if they offer any basic supplies at the campground or if they can recommend nearby places to acquire what you might need for your stay.
In summary, Cartier Park Campground in Ludington, MI, offers a convenient and well-serviced camping experience near Lincoln Lake and close to town. With brand new and clean bathhouse facilities, options for rustic to full hook-up sites at reasonable prices, and access to walking, biking, and mountain biking trails, it caters to a variety of campers. While some sites might be small or experience traffic noise, careful site selection can mitigate these issues. For local users seeking "camping near me" with modern amenities and easy access to both nature and town, Cartier Park Campground is a strong contender. Cartier Park Campground Reviews
Great campground! We will definitely be back. Loved the brand new showers and bathrooms - super clean. Management was very nice & helpful. Rates were very good. I loved the paved walking/bike path that is adjacent to the campground. A few things to be aware of: worth it to go see the different sites & hand pick yours. Many were unlevel or small/narrow and odd shaped. Also the traffic going by the sites up front is loud and starts up early in the morning. With a little careful consideration, it's a wonderful place. Has a playground but no other entertainment, which was fine for us.
Sep 22, 2024 · Lisa GilderWith the state park closed, this is a very good alternative. They offer rustic to full hook up at a reasonable price. Brand new bathhouse are super nice. They have a paved walking/bike trail plus mountain bike trail. It is in the Lincoln lake and only a couple miles from town. You can get shade or sun sites. My only negative is sites are small, no privacy unless you are on the outer loops, but they seem to be occupied by seasonal campers. We stayed 3 nights and it was pretty quiet
Sep 09, 2024 · Celeste Lewis-BradleyI wasn't planning to stay here, as I was headed to Ludington State Park without a reservation (my bad) only to learn it's closed until summer 2025.I was happily surprised by Cartier, which is just down the road from the state park. It's a GREAT campground! Brand new bathhouse, where the showers are separate from the bathrooms, which are individual LARGE stalls. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable. If they aren't in the office you can reach them by cell. The sites are plenty roomy, and the spot where I parked my tent had electric and water and faced the lake. They also have rustic tent sites. It was quiet and peaceful. The campground is adjacent to the Cartier Park Pathway, which is a beautiful paved city park through the woods. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend.
Sep 20, 2024 · Sandy RedmondPlanned a birthday camping trip for my girlfriend and decided to stay here and it was great! We arrived on a Thursday and stayed until Monday morning and have zero complaints with the park! We stayed in the rustic campsites and really enjoyed ourselves. The camper/rv area was pretty busy but the tent sites were fairly empty and was very quiet. The location is super close to town for quick trips to a store and close to the Ludington State Park where we spent most of our time hiking the trails and taking in the sunsets on the beach. The rustic sites had a new bathhouse which both the bathrooms and showers were extremely clean and taken care of. Would definitely stay here again!
Jul 30, 2024 · Joe Cmy buddy and i booked a rustic site with no power or anything and it was a neat little site with plenty of room between others. plenty of nice bathrooms and showers and some nearby docks for fishing. we had a lot of fun. if you buy firewood make sure it’s from them there at the site and it’s dry not wet. we made that mistake lol
