Davis Lakeside Campground Introduce
For local residents in Churubusco, Indiana, seeking a lakeside camping experience within the "camping near me" category, Davis Lakeside Campground, located at 7209 E Harrold Rd, Churubusco, IN 46723, presents itself as a potential option. Situated in the northeastern part of Indiana, Churubusco is known for its natural beauty, including lakes and rural landscapes, which could offer an appealing environment for outdoor activities. Davis Lakeside Campground can be contacted at (260) 602-9414 or +1 260-602-9414 for inquiries.
While the name "Davis Lakeside Campground" suggests a setting adjacent to a lake, offering potential for water-related activities and scenic views, the limited information available online primarily consists of customer reviews that raise significant concerns about the management and overall atmosphere of the campground. These reviews, while subjective, provide important perspectives that local users should carefully consider when evaluating this option for "camping near me."
One reviewer expressed a strong negative sentiment, stating that "The OWNERS are absolutely horrible people. NOT nice at all. Creepy people." This is a serious accusation that potential campers should take into account, as the behavior and attitude of campground management can significantly impact the overall camping experience. Interactions with campground staff often involve check-in, rule enforcement, and assistance with any issues that may arise during a stay. Negative interactions can detract from the enjoyment and relaxation that campers typically seek.
Another reviewer echoed concerns about the management, describing them as "not honest people" and referring to a "family clan" that initially appears "super welcoming." However, this initial impression reportedly changes if campers "challenge either mother Mary or brother Jim," potentially leading to eviction even for minor misunderstandings or lack of clear communication from the management. The reviewer advised others not to join, despite acknowledging that "The place is beautiful," because it is "not worth the challenge because it’s not exactly clear!" This suggests potential issues with transparency, communication of rules, and conflict resolution by the campground management.
The stark contrast between the potential beauty of the location (implied by "Lakeside" in the name and the reviewer's comment about "The place is beautiful") and the serious allegations about the owners creates a complex picture for prospective local campers. While the natural environment, likely involving lake access and potentially scenic surroundings, might be appealing, the reported issues with management could overshadow these positive aspects.
Given the nature of the available feedback, it is difficult to objectively describe the services and features of Davis Lakeside Campground. The reviews do not provide details about the types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV sites with hookups), the amenities offered (e.g., restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, fire pits, picnic tables), or any recreational features (e.g., playgrounds, hiking trails, boat docks). The focus of the reviews is primarily on the negative interactions with the owners and perceived unfair treatment.
Local users considering Davis Lakeside Campground based on its "camping near me" proximity and lakeside potential will need to weigh the reported management issues against the allure of a lakeside setting. It would be prudent to seek additional information from other sources, if available, to get a more balanced perspective. This might involve looking for reviews on other platforms or attempting to contact the campground directly to inquire about their policies and procedures.
Without specific details about the campground's offerings, it is impossible to comment on its features in detail. A lakeside campground typically features access to the lake for swimming, boating, and fishing. There might be boat docks or launching areas, as well as potential waterfront campsites with scenic views. Other common features of campgrounds, such as hiking trails, playgrounds, or communal areas, are not mentioned in the provided reviews.
Similarly, no promotional information is available for Davis Lakeside Campground based on the provided data. Local users would need to contact the campground directly to inquire about any special rates, seasonal offers, or long-term stay options that might be available.
In conclusion, Davis Lakeside Campground in Churubusco, IN, presents a potential option for local users seeking "camping near me" with lake access. However, the available customer reviews raise significant concerns about the behavior and integrity of the campground owners and the clarity of their policies. While the location itself may be beautiful, prospective campers should carefully consider these negative reports before making a reservation. It is strongly recommended that local users seek additional information and potentially speak directly with the campground management to address the concerns raised in the reviews and to inquire about the specific services, features, and rules of Davis Lakeside Campground. The decision to camp here should be made with a clear understanding of the potential risks highlighted by the existing feedback.
Given the serious nature of the allegations in the reviews, local users might also want to consider alternative campgrounds in the Churubusco or surrounding areas to ensure a more positive and stress-free camping experience. Exploring other options within the "camping near me" category could provide a wider range of choices with potentially more favorable reviews regarding management and customer service.

Davis Lakeside Campground Reviews
This has been saying on my heart and I have to say something about it. The OWNERS are absolutely horrible people. NOT nice at all. Creepy people.
Dec 17, 2024 · Amy SilvarmanThey are not honest people. They are a family clan that come across as super welcoming when you come in, but if you challenge either mother Mary or brother Jim you will be out. Even if you did nothing wrong but by default because they failed to provide direct communication. Don’t join! The place is beautiful but not worth the challenge because it’s not exactly clear!
Jan 10, 2023 · Chris SerratoMy mother and her roommate have a camper in Davis Campground. They have had it about 3 years. Up until this summer it was hardly used. My family, along with my mom and her roommate started camping almost every weekend this summer. We had no issues with anyone at the campground and were greeted with open arms by the other campers. My moms roommate started having issues with his pontoon boat. The owner of the campground had been asking him to take the pontoon boat out for a few weeks because she felt it was a threat to her uninsured dock. It wasn't until my family and I were up one weekend that we were able to try and get the boat out. As we were trying to figure out the best way to get the boat out, the owner came up to my moms roommate yelling and screaming at him. The way she handled this situation was so unprofessional and embarrassing to not only herself, but the campground. I tried explaining to her that we were making our best effort to remove the boat but did not have the proper trailer for it. We were trying to come up with a plan when she yelled and screamed at my family to leave the campground. The way she got in my face, a guest at the campground, was so inexcusable. Not only asking the people that were helping to get the boat out to leave, but screaming and causing a scene in front of my child. After the boat was out, the owner came back up to my family telling us we had to leave. My mom tried reasoning with her in a calm and mature way, one that was hard for her to understand. After I apologized for even getting involved, she agreed to let us stay at the campground with the one condition that the pontoon boat was not to come back this year. We have had no issues with the owner, or other campers since after being there multiple weekends. Just yesterday, while my moms roommate was at the campground checking on a leak in our camper, the owner and her brother came up to him saying he was not allowed to come back next year. We really enjoyed our weekends at the campground. We are sad to not be welcomed back. It wasn't until we spoke with other campers about what happened to us that we learned of similar experiences they have had with the owners. All very petty and unprofessional. Although we really enjoyed our time there, we will not miss dealing with the ridiculousness and childish behaviors of the so called owners. This is my response to the owner: Add bold-face lying to the Davis Campground resume. It must of been my bad attitude that caused the other campers, our neighbors, to offer help getting our augers out for the winter. Must of been my nasty spirit that had other campers, our neighbors, come and sit by our fire for hours the last weekend that we were there. Like I said, my family and I never had any issues with the other campers and were greeted with smiles each weekend we got there. Our one neighbor asked every weekend where Fred was after the boat incident because he was too scared to come back (Fred was the 83 year old man that you screamed and yelled out until I got involved). You can ask our neighbor that you banned for putting a for sale sign on their camper. It is unfortunate that it had to end this way, especially when you and I had apologized to each other the day of the boat incident and you told me to my face that we were still welcome there. Be careful Mary, your unprofessional-ism is shining through.

Aug 06, 2015 · Mark KuhnPlace was pretry nice, you even needed a pin number to get through the gate. The person we were visiting was right on the water, which was pretty. The owner of the campground toom us out on my first pontoon ride, right when the sun was setting l. She is a very nice and lively owner.
