Deer Run Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in Illinois? We'd like to introduce you to Deer Run Campground, located in Edinburg, IL 62531, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, Deer Run Campground is known for its quiet atmosphere, very large campsites, and generally pleasant camping experience, particularly for those who appreciate space and tranquility.
Environment: Deer Run Campground is described as "nice and quiet," suggesting a peaceful natural setting. The campsites are noted to be "very large" and "not squished together," providing a sense of privacy and space between campers. The presence of "young and old trees for shade" indicates a mix of open and shaded areas, enhancing the comfort of the sites. The campground is also mentioned as being a "sister' campground to Hickory Point Campground, which is part of Sangchris State Park just south of Springfield," potentially indicating a similar type of natural environment that might be found within or near a state park, although specific details of the landscape at Deer Run itself (like forests, water features, etc.) are not extensively described in these reviews.
Services and Amenities: Deer Run Campground offers several key amenities for campers. Electric hookups are available in circles A and B, with most sites offering 30 amp service, and some potentially having 50 amp. Water is accessible via "water hydrants in the middle" of camping areas, requiring campers to fill their tanks as needed. Each campsite is equipped with a "cooking fire pit" and picnic tables, essential for a comfortable camping experience. The campsites themselves are gravel and level, which is beneficial for setting up both tents and RVs. While sewer hookups are not explicitly mentioned as being available at all sites, the focus on water hydrants suggests a more traditional campground setup. There is also a host available, who can even lend a hose to campers needing to fill their water tanks if they don't have a long enough one.
Features: A standout feature of Deer Run Campground is the spaciousness of its campsites, ensuring that campers are not in close proximity to their neighbors. The level gravel pads make for easy setup. The availability of electric hookups in certain areas caters to RVers and those needing power. The provision of a fire pit and picnic table at each site enhances the camping experience. The quiet ambiance is also a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful retreat. One point to note is that the sites are described as "somewhat short," which might pose a challenge for very long trailers (e.g., 30ft) in terms of staying close to the hitch. Additionally, most sites are not angled, which can make backing in longer trailers more difficult, sometimes requiring the use of grassy areas. For filling water tanks, depending on the site, a longer hose (up to 300-400 ft) might be necessary due to the placement of the water hydrants.
Promotional Information: Looking for a quiet and spacious "camping near me" in the Edinburg, Illinois area? Deer Run Campground offers very large, level gravel sites where you won't feel crowded. Enjoy the shade of both young and old trees while having your own cooking fire pit and picnic table. For RVers, electric hookups (mostly 30 amp, some 50 amp) are available in circles A and B, and water hydrants are conveniently located for filling tanks. While the sites might be a bit shorter and not always angled perfectly for backing in longer trailers, and you might need a longer hose for water depending on your spot, the overall experience is highly positive. One camper with a 30ft travel trailer stated they "would camp here again." If you value peace, quiet, and plenty of space, Deer Run Campground is an excellent choice. The available host can even assist with borrowing a water hose if needed. Come and enjoy a relaxing camping experience in a well-maintained and spacious setting. Contact information isn't provided in the reviews, so you may need to search online for booking details or to inquire further about site specifics.
In summary, Deer Run Campground in Edinburg, IL, is a highly recommended option for those seeking a tranquil and spacious camping experience. With large, level gravel sites, electric hookups in designated areas, and convenient amenities like fire pits and picnic tables, it caters well to both tent and RV campers. While there are some considerations for those with longer trailers regarding site length and backing in, and the potential need for a longer water hose, the overall feedback emphasizes the quiet and uncrowded atmosphere. If you're a local user looking for "camping near me" that prioritizes space and peace, Deer Run Campground is definitely worth exploring for your next outdoor adventure. You might want to check online for a campground map or contact information to select a site that best suits your needs, especially if you have a larger RV or specific requirements for hookups and water access.

Deer Run Campground Reviews
Nice and quiet. Very large sites.
Apr 16, 2025 · gary harnessDeer Run Campground is a 'sister' campground to Hickory Point Campground, which is part of Sangchris State Park just south of Springfield. It is a GREAT campground. Sites are not squished together, meaning you are not staring into your neighbors widows. Electric at circles A n B. Most sites are 30 amp but I believe there are some 50amp. There are water hydrants in middle for filling up water tanks. Each sight has a cooking fire pit and picnic tables. It is quiet, spacious with young and old trees for shade.Sights are gravel and level, and somewhat short. Basically you can't put a 30ft trailer in and stay close to hitch. The only grip is that most sites are not angled, making it a challenge to back in a 30ft trailer with out having to use grassy area. Depending on site choice, if you need to fill your water tank, you'll need up to 300/400 ft of hose. Host is available from which to borrow hose if necessary. We camped with a 30ft travel trailer, and would camp here again.

Aug 02, 2021 · j pattNice mid sized state park campground, unremarkable facilities but wide campsites and some secluded sites. Our fire ring needed cleaned as there was a substantial pile of ash around it.These are electric only, no water or sewer connections at the sites. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful. Pretty busy on weekends but fee campers during the week.
Oct 09, 2023 · Roger SturgeonBeautiful, clean and quiet for the most part (weekend warriors still are around). Main problems - the glampors who insist on keeping the flood lights on on the outside of their RVs all night long. I had to use clothes and screens to get a bit of dark on our tent ( I think there might have been stars - but could not tell.) And the display of hateful political signs. The state park should not be a gathering for radical violent groups to publicly display their hate.New rules? Quiet and DARK times and No political statement signs at all.
