When considering "camping near me," the environment is a crucial aspect. Doll Mountain Campground is situated in Ellijay, Georgia, an area renowned for its mountainous terrain and beautiful lakes. One reviewer mentioned that their site had a view of the side of the mountain sloping into the lake, indicating a picturesque natural setting. The campground is described as "very serene" and quiet, suggesting a peaceful environment ideal for relaxation in nature. The presence of a lake nearby (though not directly visible from all campsites due to trees) adds to the natural appeal, with a boat dock accessible for enjoying the lake's beauty. However, it's important to note that some areas of the campground, particularly those sloping towards the lake, may lack safety rails, which could be a concern for families with young children. For those seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience surrounded by the beauty of the North Georgia mountains and a nearby lake, Doll Mountain Campground offers an attractive setting.
In terms of services, Doll Mountain Campground receives high praise for its staff, who are described as "beyond friendly and helpful." This suggests a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for campers. One reviewer specifically highlighted the "amazing" showers, indicating that at least this essential amenity is well-maintained and of high quality. While the campground offers a kids' park, it is noted that it might not be extensive. A significant service mentioned is the availability of a boat dock, providing access to the nearby lake. However, a limitation mentioned is the absence of laundry facilities on-site, which could be a consideration for longer stays without an RV washer and dryer. The immaculate condition of the campground itself suggests a commitment to cleanliness and maintenance. For those prioritizing friendly service and good shower facilities in their search for "camping near me," Doll Mountain Campground appears to deliver.
The features of Doll Mountain Campground include its proximity to a beautiful lake with a boat dock, a kids' park (though described as "not much"), and the highly-rated shower facilities. The serene and quiet environment is also a key feature, making it suitable for those seeking a relaxing retreat. However, one reviewer pointed out a lack of safe bike-riding areas for children near the RV sites. They also recommended choosing a site in the loop with wooden decks, as these were perceived to have better views and be more practical and safer for families with young children. This suggests that the features and suitability can vary significantly depending on the specific campsite. The absence of laundry facilities on-site might be a drawback for some campers. Overall, the features lean towards a more laid-back, nature-oriented experience, with specific sites offering better advantages in terms of views and safety for families.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not explicitly mention any discounts or special offers. However, the positive feedback about the staff and the serene environment could be seen as implicit promotion for those seeking a peaceful "camping near me" experience. The recommendation to choose sites in the loop with wooden decks, based on better views and safety for children, is valuable advice for potential visitors. To inquire about seasonal rates, availability of specific types of campsites (e.g., those with lake views or wooden decks), or any other promotional offers, it would be best to contact Doll Mountain Campground directly via phone. They can provide the most current information on pricing and any specials that might be available.
In summary, for those looking for "camping near me" in the Ellijay, GA area, Doll Mountain Campground offers a serene and quiet environment near a beautiful lake, with exceptionally friendly staff and amazing showers. While some campsites might be less ideal for families with young children due to safety concerns and proximity to the road, other sites, particularly those in the loop with wooden decks, are recommended for better views and practicality. The campground provides a boat dock for lake access and a small kids' park. However, laundry facilities are not available on-site. If you prioritize a peaceful natural setting and excellent service, Doll Mountain Campground is worth considering. Contact them directly to inquire about specific campsite availability and any current promotions to ensure a pleasant "camping near me" experience tailored to your needs.

Doll Mountain Campground Reviews
The campground itself is immaculate but my site in particular (site 2) felt like a glorified parking spot. The site was literally beside the road, lines and all. The part my side door faced was a view of the side of the mountain sloping into the lake but I couldn't see the lake for the trees and there was no rails of any kind or anything to keep my kids and toddler safe from falling down the hill to the lake so we mostly stayed inside. The kids park isn't much but I was thankful there was a park. The showers are amazing, I cannot stress that enough. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, they were everything I could have hoped for and more. It felt like the campground was more of a place for older people to relax and sit around in nature which is fine but if you have children and want to do things with them then it's not really the place. Nowhere for a child to ride a bike safely near your RV. There's no place to do laundry on site so if you don't have a washer and dryer in your rv you have a pretty good drive to get to a laundromat. I drove down to the boat dock to get a picture of the beautiful lake. As far as sound, it is as quiet as can be all the time. It is a very serene environment. My advice would be to pick a spot down in the loop with the wooden decks. We drove around the campground to look at the other sites and there are some that are really nice view wise and more practical for little ones in regards to saftey. If I were to go again, that's where I'd pick.
May 02, 2025 · Savannah LooneySite 38, this was our emergency backup campgrounds but it was not a let down. Awesome location, decent bathrooms and lovely hosts. Shout to John for giving us a warm welcome and helping us feel safe!
May 03, 2025 · Eleanor MayIt's a great place for a quiet getaway. There's a small playground for the kids, but that's it. It's mostly just a place for relaxation.
Apr 20, 2025 · Mike NewtonWe stayed at the only tent site with a power hookup (site 45), and it was great. The sites are each private, and our site overlooked the lake. The view is blocked a lot by the trees, but it's not bad. It was mostly quiet. People played their music at their sites, but it wasn't very disruptive, and we had no issues with noise during quiet hours. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well-maintained. The check-in and check-out was easy. I'd definitely visit again.
May 24, 2024 · Niharika SarmaThe campsites were clean and decently maintained. We were at site 38 near the bathrooms. It was very convenient but because people are literally the worst, we probably wouldn’t stay here again. Clearly respecting quiet hours isn’t a thing and nightly between 11pm-1am people would come to the bathrooms and charge their phones or wash their dishes. Literally at 11:30pm a family came and washed their dishes at the bathrooms, screaming and banging pans. Absolutely Insane. There needs to be better outlines of quiet time and camping etiquette here that is communicated from the campground host. I saw other reviews talking of no enforcement of quiet time. Hopefully someone sees these and actually does something. Super disappointing. Beyond that there’s very minimal lake access due to steep slopes which was disappointing but that’s on us for not doing research. Other sites are quieter but it’s a drive to a bathroom. So If you are looking to just camp with a drive to a bathroom or lake access this place is perfect.
