Accessibility to Dry Wolf Campground is an important consideration for potential visitors. The roads leading to the campground are gravel for the entire 22-mile stretch south of Stanford, MT. While described as a "nice gravel road," there are parts that are narrow, which could pose a challenge for very large RV rigs. Campers with larger vehicles should exercise caution and take it slow on these sections. Additionally, one reviewer noted that the campground "would be hard to get to during the winter months," suggesting that seasonal closures or difficult road conditions may occur during colder periods. It is crucial to inquire about road conditions and accessibility, especially if planning a trip outside of the peak summer season.
Another noteworthy aspect mentioned in the reviews is the presence of "cattle grazing throughout" the area. This indicates that campers should be aware of livestock potentially roaming in the vicinity of the campground. While this adds a unique element to the camping experience, it also necessitates caution and respect for the animals and their environment. Campers should take appropriate measures to secure their belongings and avoid disturbing the grazing cattle.
In summary, Dry Wolf Campground offers a fantastic opportunity for a peaceful and affordable camping getaway near Stanford, Montana. Its beautiful forest setting, access to the pristine Dry Wolf Creek, spacious campsites, and nearby hiking trail provide a range of appealing features for outdoor enthusiasts. While the gravel access roads require careful navigation, particularly for larger vehicles, and winter access may be challenging, the overall experience of tranquility and natural beauty makes Dry Wolf Campground a hidden gem for those seeking "camping near me." Remember to contact the campground directly for the most current information on fees, accessibility, and any specific regulations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable camping trip.

Dry Wolf Campground Reviews
Great place to get away and enjoy the forest, a great source of water and the creek, very quiet. The campground is $15 per night. It would be hard to get to during the winter months. The roads are gravel the entire way and narrow at parts if you have a big RV rig then take it slow. There is cattle grazing through out. The drive up is beautiful. The creek is right on the camp ground. The spots are spacious. There is a water fill up spout right before the camp ground. This is a great place to go have a peaceful retreat and recharge.
Jul 29, 2023 · Sierra SimpsonGreat campground! Pack in pack out with fire pits/grates, and a nice picnic table at each of the 25+ sites. $5/might fee as of 2018, looks like it's going up to $15 in 2019. Beautiful Dry Wolf Creek is crystal clear. Hand pump water and clean vault toilets. 2.5mi hiking trail where you might spot mountain goats! Not overly busy even on Memorial Day weekend. No reservations. 22mi south of Stanford MT on a nice gravel road. Dogs welcome on a leash.

Jul 07, 2020 · Kandas CecA lovely campground! Spaces are pretty far apart, large, and idyllic. Lots of hiking in the area. A creek provides lovely white noise. :)
Jun 24, 2022 · Carol Jean Marine$ 15 a day no maintenance, roads are terrible. Weeds are crazy, stumps all over. Poor training on land management, but.... very beautiful place. Stream always has a music to it.
