Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground Introduce
For local residents and those seeking a more basic and wilderness-oriented "camping near me" experience in the Isabella, Minnesota area, Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground, located in Isabella, MN 55607, USA, offers a small and potentially secluded option. However, based on recent reviews from campers, it's essential to be aware of the campground's limited amenities and potential for noise disturbances to plan accordingly for a rustic stay.
The environment of Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground, given its name and the reviews, suggests a natural and undeveloped setting. The mention of it being a "pretty simple" campground further supports this idea. With only three campsites, one might expect a quiet and intimate camping experience. The surrounding area of Isabella, located near the Superior National Forest and the North Shore region, is known for its beautiful wilderness, including lakes, forests, and wildlife. Campers can likely anticipate being immersed in this natural environment, potentially offering opportunities for hiking, nature observation, and enjoying the tranquility of the northern Minnesota landscape.
In terms of services, the reviews indicate that Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground offers very basic or limited amenities. Notably, one camper explicitly stated, "Neither had a garbage or water so plan accordingly," referring to Eighteen Lake and another nearby empty campground. This lack of essential services like potable water and waste disposal is a crucial consideration for anyone planning to camp here. Campers will need to bring their own water supply and be prepared to pack out all their trash, adhering strictly to Leave No Trace principles. The other review mentions that the reason for numerous side-by-sides driving through the camp might have been to use the toilet, implying the presence of at least a basic toilet facility, although its condition and maintenance are not described. The availability of other common campground amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, or designated parking areas is not mentioned in the provided reviews, suggesting a more primitive camping experience.
The features of Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground are primarily its small size and potentially secluded location within the natural environment of northern Minnesota. With only three campsites, it offers a more intimate camping experience compared to larger campgrounds, potentially appealing to those seeking solitude. However, the review noting significant traffic of pick-up trucks and side-by-sides driving through the camp, particularly in the evening, raises concerns about noise and disruption. The reviewer speculated that some of this traffic might be from individuals using the toilet facility, which could indicate that the campground is accessible to non-campers or is located in an area with local traffic. The fact that the reviewer described the aftermath left by these visitors as "rude" suggests a lack of respect for the campground and its users by some individuals passing through.
The second review mentions that the campground was "close to full on a Wednesday night," indicating that despite its simplicity and potential drawbacks, it is still utilized by campers. This could be due to its location relative to other attractions or simply a preference for a more rustic and less developed camping experience. The comparison to another empty campsite four miles down the road suggests that camping options in the area vary in popularity and possibly amenities.
There is no promotional information provided for Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground. Local users interested in camping here should be prepared for a very basic experience with limited to no services like garbage disposal or potable water. They should also be aware of the potential for noise and traffic through the campground, as highlighted in the reviews. Eighteen Lake Rustic Campground Reviews
You think with just three sitesit would be a quiet camp but pick up trucks and side by sides driving through Camp And then around 930 like 15 side by sides came through. I think they were just coming into use the toilet but this is what they left behind. Too bad a beautiful place has to be rude by a few bad apples. I was there on a Tuesday night.
Aug 20, 2024 · David DoeringAs far as a campground it's pretty simple. It was close to full on a Wednesday night. There's another camp site 4 miles down the road that was empty. Neither had a garbage or water so plan accordingly.
Sep 28, 2023 · minimate masterworksNice and clean rustic camping. 3 camp sites and a toilet. Canoe access to the lake. I thought the mosquitoes were going to take us! They were thick. Free
May 27, 2020 · Nathan BauerPeaceful, tranquil, mostly clean. People who visit this place need to learn to pack their trash out. It is pretty disgusting to leave your trash behind. This place is beautiful and should be treated with respect.
Aug 20, 2024 · Blytz BlazenVery rustic, which we loved, lake access just steps away. Took the hike around the lake and it was thicker than we expected but a nice hike. 3 roomy campsites. There is a pot toilet in clean shape, but not great air flow.
