Evergreens Campground & Restaurant Introduce
Nestled along the picturesque US-201 in Solon, Maine, Evergreens Campground & Restaurant offers a unique camping experience for locals seeking a refreshing outdoor getaway. Situated directly beside the stunning Kennebec River, this campground provides an idyllic setting for families, friends, and solo adventurers alike. If you're searching for "camping near me" and desire a location that combines natural beauty with convenient amenities, Evergreens Campground & Restaurant is a destination worth exploring.
The campground boasts spacious and remarkably level trailer and tent sites, ensuring a comfortable setup for all types of campers. Imagine waking up to the gentle sounds of the Kennebec River and stepping out to breathtaking waterfront scenery. The new owners of Evergreens Campground & Restaurant are dedicated to providing a positive and memorable camping experience for every guest. According to recent reviews, their friendly and helpful demeanor contributes significantly to the welcoming atmosphere of the campground.
For those seeking a more traditional camping experience, ample space is available for tents, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural surroundings. The level grounds make pitching tents straightforward and comfortable. Whether you prefer the simplicity of tent camping or the convenience of an RV, Evergreens Campground & Restaurant caters to a variety of accommodation preferences.
Beyond the individual campsites, Evergreens Campground & Restaurant fosters a sense of community. Many visitors have highlighted the opportunity to connect with fellow campers from various parts of Maine, creating a friendly and social environment. Whether you're looking to relax by the campfire or engage in conversations with your neighbors, this campground offers a welcoming space to unwind and connect.
While the primary focus is on providing excellent camping facilities, the inclusion of a restaurant adds another layer of convenience and appeal. After a day of outdoor activities, campers can enjoy a meal without having to leave the premises. This on-site restaurant provides a convenient option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, ensuring that you have more time to relax and enjoy your camping experience.
Recent feedback from campers also mentions the availability of cabins for rent, offering an alternative to traditional tent or RV camping. These cabins provide a more sheltered and comfortable option, particularly for those who prefer not to sleep directly under the stars or during less favorable weather conditions. While specific details about the cabins weren't provided in the reviews, their presence expands the range of accommodation choices available at Evergreens Campground & Restaurant.
However, it's important to consider some of the points raised in the customer reviews. One recurring concern is the noise level due to the campground's proximity to a main road. Some visitors have reported significant traffic noise, particularly from vehicles accelerating along the adjacent roadway. This is a factor to consider if you are particularly sensitive to noise and prioritize absolute tranquility during your camping trip.
Another aspect highlighted in the reviews is the condition of the bathhouse and restrooms. Campers have described them as antiquated and poorly ventilated, leading to uncomfortable heat inside. Additionally, the lack of locks on the stall doors has been noted as a concern for privacy. While these are areas that the new owners will hopefully address with future upgrades, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of the current facilities.
Furthermore, the campground currently does not offer sewage hookups at individual campsites. RV campers will need to utilize the dump station for waste disposal. This is a common setup at many campgrounds, but it's a practical consideration for those planning an RV stay.
Despite these drawbacks, the positive aspects of Evergreens Campground & Restaurant, such as the beautiful riverside location, spacious and level sites, and the friendly new owners, create a foundation for a pleasant camping experience. The owners have clearly made significant improvements to the campground compared to its state 20 years ago, transforming it into a more appealing destination for campers.
In conclusion, if you're a local resident searching for "camping near me" in the Solon, Maine area, Evergreens Campground & Restaurant offers a compelling option. Its prime location along the Kennebec River provides stunning scenery and opportunities for riverside activities. The spacious campsites and the welcoming attitude of the new owners contribute to a positive camping atmosphere. While potential visitors should be aware of the noise from the nearby road and the condition of the bathhouse facilities, the overall experience appears to be a positive one, with the promise of future improvements under the new ownership. Consider Evergreens Campground & Restaurant for your next camping adventure and discover the beauty of the Maine outdoors.

Evergreens Campground & Restaurant Reviews
Not rating "rooms" though they've got cabins. Great people, I've met folks I've known directly and indirectly from all corners of Maine. If you're looking for a family campground or to hang out with your friends it passes muster. Great owners interested in your camping experience. I passed on this place 20 yrs ago, it was dark and dreary. These new owners have made this a markee landing for campers now and likely to continue into the future.
Aug 25, 2024 · Chaz SnowEvergreens Campground has a few pros and cons.Pros: Campground and trailer sites are directly next to the beautiful Kennebec River. Sites are spacious and very level. Scenery is wonderful. The owners are new and very nice.Cons: Campground is noisy beyond belief. There is a main road alongside and directly across from the campground. Every Local Yokel /Hick that has a noisy truck or stock car, finds it necessary to punch their engines and race down the road. The noise at times was liking being at a racetrack; it was awful. It ruined the tranquility of the campground. The bath house/ restrooms at the campground are very antiquated and extremely hot inside due to poor ventilation. Also, there are no locks on the stall doors which I found very uncomfortable. Locks are cheap at the store. I have no idea why they don't replace the missing locks? The campground has no sewage hookups at the sites, you must use the dump station. All in all we had a nice weekend. I'm sure the new owners will make the necessary upgrades and improvements over time.
Jul 30, 2024 · Kenneth DonnellWe recently stayed at Evergreens Campground with our entire wedding party and some family as we had our wedding about 15 minutes down the road. I am so beyond glad that we chose this place, based on how nice the owners are alone! Jodi is one of the kindest and most accommodating person you can have in the lodging business. My wife and I stopped by un-announced to check out the campground about a week before our reservation because we wanted to plan out the sleeping arrangements for our wedding party. Jodi took us around and showed us the cabins and the land, and she went as far as trying to help us figure out a way to carpool our guests around to the venue which blew us away with how willing she was to help us figure things out. She also made coffee for our bridal party in the morning and offered to let us have breakfast in the little restaurant area. Its such a beautiful spot, directly in front of the river and so peaceful. The cabins were really clean and had room for everyone. What I can say about Evergreens Campground is that if you stay there you will find immediate friends in the owners. We were so thankful to have this campground to stay at, it was the best accomodation in the Madison/Skowhegan area! We can't wait to go back and visit again. Thank you Jodi and Jim for everything! We will never forget your unending kindness towards us. It made our special week even more unforgettable!
Jun 28, 2024 · Autumn DoucetteWe stopped to visit with friends and met the owners- Amazing people Jimmy and Jodi are so wonderful. They have totally changed the camp grounds, nice entry road in, opened up the sites to add sun light. Sites are very nice. Can't wait for the bar and restaurant to open. Will not be disappointed
Sep 04, 2024 · Marc PoulinI've been looking for a way to see the 3,000 year old Native American/ First Nations petroglyphs at the Hogden archeological site. Information on it is limited, probably to reduce risk of vandalism.Thrilled to discover Evergreens Campground, which BTW is located on the Evergreen archeological site, a summer encampment of Native Americans/ First Nations people spanning at least 3,000 years. The campground is beautiful, quiet, rents high quality kayaks and canoes. The water was clean and warm.I swam across the river to see the petroglyphs, while my friends kayaked to it. Disclaimer, I am an experienced/ strong swimmer, but the current can be swift/ strong. Be mindful of trying to swim, dependent on water conditions. The cost of canoe rental at the time I went was $60 and kayaks $35. Both included good quality life vests, Old Town and Cabellas products. There is also a shuttle service to pick you up diwn river if you would like. I also saw people tubing down the river.Staff were very nice and helpful. They are as of July 2024> refurbishing the restaurant. It looks like it will be a great little cabin style eatery> with a bar/ taps when finished.I did not camp there, but there are individual cabins, rv sites and pop tent sites available. Everything looked clean, good repair, cozy.Very quiet, peaceful atmosphere with fish jumping, eagles and water birds like Merganser. Surrounded by nature and forest.Plenty of shade, grassy areas and safe water access for swimming or launching canoe/ kayak/ boat w no draft as the river is shallow along sides. Small pebble river rock is not too bad to walk on getting in and out of the water.
