Fern Campground Introduce
For those seeking "camping near me" amidst the natural beauty of southeastern Oklahoma, Fern Campground, located in Broken Bow, OK 74728, USA, offers an opportunity to immerse oneself in a scenic environment with river access. Situated within the vicinity of Beaver Bend State Park, Fern Campground provides a traditional camping experience that has garnered both praise for its cleanliness and concerns regarding traffic and campsite maintenance.
The environment surrounding Fern Campground is undoubtedly one of its most significant draws. Being located near Broken Bow and within the broader context of the Beavers Bend State Park area, campers can expect to be surrounded by the region's characteristic natural beauty. This includes lush forests, rolling terrain, and, notably, access to a river area that has been described by a visitor as "absolutely beautiful." The scenery is highlighted as being far from "blah or boring," suggesting a visually appealing and engaging natural landscape. The presence of a river offers opportunities for various water-related activities, although specific details about these activities are not provided in the reviews. The overall ambiance is one of being immersed in nature, making it an attractive destination for those looking to escape the urban environment.
In terms of services, the information available is somewhat mixed. One reviewer explicitly mentions the cleanliness of the bathroom and shower areas within the Fern camping area, describing them as "extremely clean" and "well maintained." This is a significant positive aspect for any campground, as clean facilities greatly enhance the camping experience. Another reviewer, however, points out a potential drawback related to the bathroom facilities. They note that the bathroom tends to attract tent campers and park visitors from the entire state park, leading to constant traffic down the one-way road, particularly in the mornings and evenings for showers. This suggests that while the facilities themselves might be clean, their accessibility to a wide range of people can result in congestion and increased traffic within the campground.
The features of Fern Campground, based on the limited review information, include access to a beautiful river area and reportedly clean bathroom and shower facilities, at least within the Fern camping section. The presence of a friendly individual referred to as "Pops" who "watched over" the campground is also mentioned as a positive feature, suggesting a degree of on-site management and a welcoming atmosphere. However, a significant concern raised by a reviewer is the lack of cleaning of campsites between campers. This could be a crucial factor for potential visitors who prioritize a clean campsite upon arrival. Additionally, the one-way road within the campground, coupled with the high traffic to the bathroom facilities, results in a continuous flow of vehicles, with headlights potentially shining into campsites, especially during parking and when occupants are taking turns for showers. This could detract from the peacefulness of the camping experience for some visitors.
Promotional information for Fern Campground would likely focus on its "great campground" aspects, emphasizing the "extremely clean bathroom and shower areas" (at least in the Fern area), the "well maintained" grounds (as perceived by one reviewer), and the "absolutely beautiful" scenery and river area. The friendly presence of "Pops" could also be highlighted as a welcoming and reassuring aspect of the campground. To attract local users searching for "camping near me" with clean facilities and scenic surroundings, these positive attributes would likely be front and center in any promotional materials. However, to maintain objectivity and transparency, it would be advisable for any promotional information to also address the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews, such as the lack of campsite cleaning between visitors and the traffic congestion related to the bathroom facilities. This could be done by acknowledging these aspects and perhaps outlining any measures being taken to mitigate them, or by advising campers to be aware of these potential issues.
For local users considering Fern Campground for their next "camping near me" experience, it appears to offer a location with beautiful scenery and river access, along with commendably clean bathroom and shower facilities in the Fern camping area. The presence of a friendly campground host adds to a potentially positive atmosphere. However, it is essential to be aware of the potential downsides highlighted by other campers. The lack of cleaning between campsite occupants might be a concern for those who expect a pristine site upon arrival. The high traffic flow on the one-way road, particularly to the bathrooms, and the issue of headlights shining into campsites during these times, could impact the tranquility of the stay. Therefore, while Fern Campground has its merits, potential visitors should weigh these factors based on their personal preferences and priorities for a camping experience. If clean facilities and a beautiful natural setting are top priorities, and one is prepared to potentially overlook the traffic and the lack of campsite cleaning between visitors, Fern Campground could still be a worthwhile option for a "camping near me" getaway in the Broken Bow area.

Fern Campground Reviews
Our favorite but you have to overlook that there is no cleaning of campsites between campers. The bathroom draws all tent campers and park vistors from the whole state park.Morning bathroom traffic and evening showers keep a constant flow of traffic down the one way road. The headlights are the worst as they shine on you campsite while cars are parking or continually running as occupants take turns for showers
Aug 03, 2023 · David SchuttlerGreat camp ground, extremely clean bathroom and shower areas, at least in the Fern camping area. We'll maintained, watched over by a very friendly gentleman who goes by "Pops". Highly recommend this if you're looking for a fun camping experience! Scenery and river area are absolutely beautiful. Nothing blah or boring about this OK camping destination folks! 👌 👍
Sep 24, 2022 · Stephen Shoemake JrExcellent spots right on the river. We really enjoyed the area, nice and quiet. Convenient access to the bathrooms and showers, dump bin for trash near the bathrooms as well. When you use the dump site for your RV, you have to remove the tall white pole to connect your sewer pipe, that was the only tricky thing.
May 29, 2021 · Cullen RyanDon't expect peace and quiet.. Very beautiful but very busy place. Just wasn't for us, we won't be back. It's too bad cause the RV spaces are spaced out nicely, fishing was good, deer are tame (come right up to your car), and scenery is awesome but that's why it's so busy 😆 Even in December (we thought it would be less busy). Wouldn't discourage anyone from going just know that it's not a quiet place. We heard people talking on a loud speaker, frequent train whistles (both from train ride near by), lots of kids screaming and playing, people yelling back and forth to each other, squeaky playground equipment, just lots of people. Couldn't imagine being there in the summer. I'm probably just getting old and grumpy. You should check it out if you've never been, for the scenery alone.
Dec 26, 2021 · sputumsucker05Loved this campground. The spaces were not on top of each other. We were right by the river. The showers/bathrooms were excellent- Cooled down, which in August was appreciated. The trash was picked up daily while we were there. I am sure this was to try and discourage the raccoons who found the campground very inviting. We even saw an armadillo! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
