Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation - Boy Scout High Adventure Camp Introduce
For those seeking a unique "camping near me" experience that goes beyond traditional campgrounds, Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation, located in Tupper Lake, NY, offers a Boy Scout High Adventure Camp focused on trekking and outdoor adventure. Situated in a potentially remote and scenic part of the Adirondacks, this reservation, reachable at (518) 359-3300 or +1 518-359-3300, caters to groups looking for a more challenging and immersive outdoor experience.
Based on the enthusiastic reviews from those who have participated, Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation provides an "amazing experience" for anyone who decides to trek there. One reviewer, who had the pleasure of working there for two summers, described it as "the best Boy Scout camp I have attended." This personal endorsement from someone familiar with various such camps speaks highly of the quality of the experience offered at Floodwood Mountain.
Another participant echoed this sentiment, stating, "This was an amazing experience and I feel everyone Gould experience it." What's particularly noteworthy is the inclusivity highlighted by this reviewer: "Our group ranged from 15 to 60s, so tht alone should show that anyone can do it." This suggests that while it's a "High Adventure Camp," it's accessible to a wide range of age groups and fitness levels, making it a potential option for diverse groups seeking a collective outdoor challenge.
The adventurous nature of the camp is further emphasized by the mention of a "50 miler" trek that the group undertook. This indicates that Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation offers opportunities for significant and challenging expeditions into the wilderness. For those who are physically capable and seeking to push their limits while immersed in nature, this could be a very appealing feature.
The reviewer also humorously touched upon some of the realities of such a trek, noting, "if you can deal with the bo of not showering and Poppin a squat here and there you'll have a lot of fun." This provides an honest glimpse into the more rustic aspects of a high adventure experience, suggesting that participants should be prepared for a more primitive and self-sufficient mode of engaging with the outdoors.
Finally, the visual aspect of the environment is lauded, with the reviewer stating, "As you can see from my photos the scenery is nothing but the best." While we don't have access to these photos, this comment strongly implies that the natural surroundings of Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation are a significant highlight, offering breathtaking views and a beautiful backdrop for the trekking adventures.
From these reviews, we can infer that the environment of Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation is likely characterized by the rugged and scenic landscapes of the Adirondacks, providing a stunning backdrop for high adventure activities. The primary service appears to be the provision of a framework and location for group trekking, potentially including logistical support and guidance for planned routes like the 50-miler. Key features include the opportunity for challenging multi-day treks, the inclusivity across a wide age range, and the immersion in a beautiful natural environment.
It's important to note that this is a Boy Scout High Adventure Camp, which likely means that participation is often organized through Boy Scout troops or similar youth groups, although the one review suggests it's open to a broader age range for group experiences. Local users interested in this type of "camping near me" should likely inquire about the specific participation requirements and how individuals or groups can get involved.
Promotional information is not explicitly present in these reviews, but the strong positive testimonials and the description of the "amazing experience" serve as a powerful endorsement. For local groups seeking an adventurous and bonding outdoor experience, perhaps as a scouting troop or a group of friends and family looking for a challenge, Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation seems to offer a unique opportunity. The chance to undertake significant treks like a 50-miler in a beautiful setting could be a major draw.
In conclusion, Floodwood Mountain Scout Reservation in Tupper Lake, NY, offers more than just a typical campground; it provides a platform for high adventure trekking in a scenic environment. The positive feedback highlights its suitability for a wide range of ages within a group setting and the potential for memorable and challenging experiences like the 50-miler trek. Our group ranged from 15 to 60s, so tht alone should show that anyone can do it, on top of that we went for the 50 miler. Was a great way for all of us to get closer and if you can deal with the bo of not showering and Poppin a squat here and there you'll have a lot of fun. As you can see from my photos the scenery is nothing but the best.
Aug 23, 2019 · Joey ZiererMy Venture crew completed two week-long canoe treks with Floodwood, one in summer 2015 and the most recent one in summer 2016. The staff is excellent and both trips were amazing. In 2016, we were able to complete a total of 50 miles of canoeing, which qualified us for the 50 miler award. It is a life changing experience. We can’t wait to go back!!
Nov 01, 2017 · Melissa DeFrancescoBeen to Floodwood 3 of the last 4 years. I can attest the boys have found it to be one of the highlights of their scouting experience. A true adventure and character builder. Guides are great, trips are well planned with the Crew making the decisions with excellent guidance from the staff. Hope I get a crew together this summer. Dec 23, 2017 · C.J. KonnerthI went here as a young man while I was a member of Boy Scouts Troop 379 in Palisades Park NJ. Which is part of the Bergen Council of the Boy Scouts. I spent 2 weeks there in the Summer of 1977. I still cherish the memories of that great place. I learned a lot about life & myself while I was there. Great Times !!!
