Forest Grove Campground Introduce
For local residents and travelers exploring "camping near me" in the scenic state of Montana, Forest Grove Campground offers a unique riverside experience. Situated at 1108 Mullan Rd E, Superior, MT 59872, USA, this campground provides direct access to the river and boasts beautiful views. It's important to note that some online reviews for this location may be conflated with those of the nearby Quartz Flats Campground across the river, so this introduction aims to provide specific details relevant to Forest Grove Campground based on available information.
Forest Grove Campground's location in Superior, Montana, makes it a potentially convenient "camping near me" option for those in the region or passing through. Its position directly on the river offers a significant draw for water enthusiasts and those seeking picturesque camping spots. While the exact number of sites is limited, with one reviewer estimating around 3 or 4, this smaller size can contribute to a more secluded and intimate camping experience, as highlighted by a visitor who was the only camper during a mid-summer weekday.
The environment surrounding Forest Grove Campground is characterized by its proximity to the river, which offers beautiful views and opportunities for various activities. The presence of a large boat ramp indicates easy access for those wishing to launch boats for fishing or leisurely river excursions. The river itself serves as a focal point of the campground, enhancing the natural beauty of the location. While specific details about the surrounding terrain aren't extensively described, the mention of "beautiful views" suggests a scenic setting that campers can appreciate.
In terms of services, Forest Grove Campground offers basic amenities typical of a smaller, more rustic camping area. According to one review, there is at least one pit toilet available for campers' use. However, it's explicitly mentioned that there is no water available at the campground, so visitors must bring their own supply for drinking, cooking, and other needs. This lack of running water is a crucial factor for potential campers to consider when planning their trip. The presence of a boat ramp is a significant service for those with boats, providing convenient access to the river.
The features of Forest Grove Campground are centered around its river access and the potential for a quieter, more secluded camping experience due to the limited number of sites. The large boat ramp is a key feature for boaters and anglers. The beautiful views of the river and surrounding landscape contribute to the overall appeal. The pricing structure is also a notable feature: while the standard rate is $18 per site, Montana residents with a fishing license can camp overnight for a reduced fee of $7.50. Additionally, one reviewer mentioned a military/veteran discount, suggesting a rate of around $8 per site for eligible individuals. This tiered pricing makes it a potentially budget-friendly "camping near me" option for locals and veterans.
It's important to reiterate the distinction between Forest Grove Campground and the nearby Quartz Flats Campground. Reviews indicate that Quartz Flats, located across the river, has a larger number of campsites and different pricing ($15 per site). Campers specifically looking for the smaller, more riverside-focused experience of Forest Grove should ensure they are at the correct location (1108 Mullan Rd E, Superior, MT 59872). The mention of "very nice hosts" in relation to Quartz Flats does not necessarily apply to Forest Grove Campground based on the limited reviews available for the latter.
While specific promotional information is not provided, the tiered pricing structure based on residency and fishing license status can be considered a form of local incentive. The potential military/veteran discount also serves as a benefit for eligible campers. The primary draw of Forest Grove Campground is its direct river access, beautiful scenery, and the possibility of a more solitary camping experience due to the limited number of sites, especially during off-peak times, as suggested by the reviewer who was the only camper.
Given the lack of water at the campground, it is crucial for visitors to bring an adequate supply for their entire stay. Additionally, being a more basic campground, campers should be prepared with all necessary camping gear, including cooking equipment, shelter, and any personal hygiene items. The presence of a pit toilet indicates that restroom facilities are rudimentary. The river access offers opportunities for fishing and boating, so bringing appropriate gear for these activities may enhance the camping experience. As with any outdoor location in Montana, being aware of local wildlife and taking necessary precautions is advisable.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in Montana who value direct river access, beautiful views, and a potentially quieter camping experience, Forest Grove Campground in Superior offers a compelling option. Its tiered pricing structure provides benefits for local residents and veterans. However, the lack of water on-site necessitates careful planning and preparation. By understanding the basic amenities and the unique features of this riverside campground, visitors can enjoy a more intimate connection with the natural beauty of Montana.

Forest Grove Campground Reviews
Cycling east to west. $18 site, military/vet is like $8. One pit toilet, only a few sites but you can probably camp anywhere down there. No water but access to the river, with a large boat ramp. I was the only camper on a Tuesday mid summer. Beautiful views. I think there is a local dog with one eye who comes by to see whats going on. Be nice to him and he will be on his way :)
Jul 31, 2024 · RyanA lot of the reviews on this marker are for Quartz flats campground across the river. This is a very beautiful fishing access area right on the river. $18 overnight if you are from out of state. $7.50 if you are a Montana resident with a fishing license. Very limited number of spots (didn't count, but maybe 3/4). Quartz flats across the way has a ton of spots and yes, very nice hosts. Also cheaper at $15 for the site.
Jun 30, 2023 · Grant SoperHere's the thing: this campground's location on the Clark Fork River is absolutely breathtaking. It is right beside a boat ramp though, so you'll have early morning water-goers. That's just a non-negotiable for here.Unfortunately, I had bad camping neighbors who were making insane noise from 11p-4a. But that was on them, not on the campsite.Great space here as long as the neighbors aren't being loud. The sound of the river all night (when I could hear it) was amazing.
Jul 02, 2022 · DylanBeautiful spot on the Clark Fork with only four overnight camp spots and no drinking water. Always popular during peak summer months, so be prepared to camp elsewhere.
Aug 01, 2018 · Darron WoolleyIt's nice on the A loop, but you need to remember you're right off the Interstate. There's also a midnight train with a whistle every night. But it is a quick cheap overnight if you're travelling through.
