Based on customer feedback, Fox Fire Riverside Campground presents a mixed experience. One reviewer highlighted some significant issues, including discrepancies in quoted prices upon arrival and subsequent rate increases during a longer stay. This review also mentioned a concerning incident involving the campground's sewer line, which reportedly affected a camper's site with sewage, and the response involved the application of lime without a more thorough cleanup. This perspective suggests potential inconsistencies in management and maintenance that prospective campers should be aware of.
However, another camper shared a more positive experience, specifically praising the "riverside spots" for their scenic beauty and the "nice, dense canopy of trees high above for shade." This reviewer also noted the convenience of the campground's proximity to "corner stores for food and drinks," making it easy to access essential supplies. Furthermore, they commended the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers, mentioning that these facilities were cleaned daily during their stay. While they pointed out that the wooden floorboards in the showers could feel a bit rough on bare feet, they recommended bringing sandals for added comfort. This positive review specifically highlighted sites 1-3 as desirable locations within the campground.
Considering these contrasting experiences, Fox Fire Riverside Campground appears to offer some appealing natural features, particularly its riverside locations and shaded campsites. The convenience of nearby stores is also a notable advantage for campers needing quick access to necessities. The daily cleaning of the bathroom and shower facilities is another positive aspect mentioned by a visitor.
However, potential visitors should also be mindful of the concerns raised in the negative review regarding pricing inconsistencies and the handling of maintenance issues. It might be prudent to confirm pricing details before arrival and inquire about the current condition of the facilities and any recent maintenance work.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Fox Fire Riverside Campground provides an option with direct river access and natural shade, which can be particularly appealing during warmer months. The availability of both tent and RV sites suggests a broad appeal to different types of campers. The proximity to local amenities adds to the convenience, allowing campers to easily resupply or grab a quick bite if needed.
To make the most informed decision about your next camping trip, it's always a good idea to consider a range of feedback and weigh the pros and cons based on your personal priorities. If you value riverside views and shaded campsites and are comfortable with the possibility of bringing shower sandals, Fox Fire Riverside Campground might be worth considering. However, it would also be wise to clarify pricing and inquire about facility maintenance beforehand to ensure a smoother experience.
In summary, Fox Fire Riverside Campground offers a location with natural beauty along the river and convenient access to local stores. While one review highlighted some negative experiences related to pricing and maintenance, another praised the riverside spots, shade, cleanliness of facilities, and proximity to amenities. We encourage you to consider these aspects when planning your local camping adventure.

Fox Fire Riverside Campground Reviews
Not a very good experience. We were quoted one price and arrived to find the price was higher. After staying for a few months for work campground representatives wanted to raise the rates again. Also the camper on the end had the campground sewer line explode all over there site twice. Campground representatives just put lime on the sewage and left it.
Feb 20, 2025 · Joe StevenerRiverside spots are very nice and there is a nice, dense canopy of trees high above for shade. Very close to the corner stores for food and drinks. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned every day that I was there. Showers have wooden floorboards with spacing in between that can feel harsh on bare feet. Very clean, just bring sandals for the showers for comfort anyways. Great place! Sites 1-3 were where we stayed.
Aug 22, 2024 · Michael PefferI recently had the pleasure of staying at this campground and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. The cleanliness of the showers with hot water was outstanding. The entire campground was spotless, the staff clearly takes pride in maintaining the grounds. One of my favorite parts of the stay was the tents camping was located right on the river. Waking up to the sound of the water flowing was so peaceful and serene. It truly felt like a slice of heaven. The quietness of the campground added to the overall relaxing atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, always willing to help with any questions or requests. I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived until the moment I left.I also appreciated the fact that firewood was available (even though it was a little damp) for purchase at such a reasonable price (cheaper than local stores). It made it easy to enjoy a cozy campfire each evening without breaking the bank.It is crucial to always pay attention to signs warning of fast rising water, especially when crossing a river. As a 200 lb man, I learned the hard way that even a small increase in water levels can make a significant difference in the difficulty of crossing. In just 20 minutes, the river had risen two or three feet, and I struggled to make it back across safely with such a strong current. It is important to prioritize safety and take any warnings or signs seriously to avoid putting oneself in a dangerous situation. If I had had my kids with me I would have had to spend the night on the bank across the river.Overall, I had a fantastic experience at this campground and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience. I will definitely be returning in the future.
Jun 16, 2024 · Fleetwood CatonGreat river side primitive camping. Fantastic location for kayaking. Also, easy access to all the rafting companies on the Pigeon River. Hartford has a good number of food trucks and eateries. Zip lining is close as well.Lots to do and relaxing by the river is close at hand.
Aug 07, 2024 · Greg BarnettAbsolutely wonderful. Open all year. James and I were traveling to N.C and needed to rest for the night. Scott and his wife were very accommodating. We stayed overnight in r.v spot in our sprinter van. Electricity and water available.Restrooms and showers were cold in there but not due to the hosts not trying. Just a large room to keep warm.Cozy cabins available to rent.Tent campground was unavailable at the time we were there due to ice at the time. Still plenty of space. As for the recent posts about people living on the property. There are several campers on grounds, however, it was nice and neat and very quiet while we were there. Will stay there again, Loved it!
