Based on recent customer reviews, Goose Creek State Park Tent Campground provides a "nice primitive campground" that appeals to those looking for a quieter and more nature-focused camping experience. One reviewer specifically mentioned that it offered what they desired: a quiet place near water, leading them to express their intention to return. This highlights the serene environment and proximity to water as key attractions of this campground for local users seeking a peaceful escape.
The reviewer further elaborated on the "no frills" nature of the section where they stayed. This indicates a more rustic camping experience, characterized by basic amenities. Specifically, they noted that the toilets were the eco-friendly, non-water type, and that showers were not available nearby. This is important information for potential campers who prefer or require more developed facilities. The emphasis on a "nice quiet spot to set up your tent" suggests that the primary appeal lies in the natural setting and the opportunity for a peaceful overnight stay.
Despite some trail closures mentioned in one review, the overall sentiment regarding the natural beauty of Goose Creek State Park and the campground's surroundings is positive. Another reviewer described the area as "beautiful, clean with river access." This highlights the scenic quality of the location and the valuable amenity of being able to access the river directly from or near the campground. River access opens up possibilities for activities such as fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the waterfront scenery.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities beyond camping, Goose Creek State Park Tent Campground appears to be an excellent choice. The same reviewer noted that there are "lots of trails for those looking to get some walking in and enjoy the great outdoors." This suggests that the park offers ample opportunities for hiking and exploring the natural landscapes of the area. The presence of numerous trails caters to individuals and families who wish to immerse themselves in nature and engage in physical activity during their camping trip.
The combination of a quiet, primitive camping experience with access to water and extensive trail systems makes Goose Creek State Park Tent Campground particularly appealing to local users who prioritize nature and tranquility when searching for "camping near me." The "eco-friendly type without water" toilets are indicative of a focus on environmental sustainability, which might be a significant factor for environmentally conscious campers.
While the reviews do not provide specific details about the number of campsites, the layout, or other amenities beyond the toilets and lack of showers in at least one section, the overall impression is that of a natural and relatively undeveloped camping area within a beautiful state park. Potential campers should be prepared for a more self-sufficient camping style, especially given the primitive nature described in the reviews. Bringing adequate water and being prepared for non-flush toilets would be essential.
The mention of being able to go "in and out in a night to move on to the next spot" suggests that the campground is also suitable for those on a longer journey who are looking for a convenient and peaceful overnight stop. However, the beauty of the park and the availability of trails indicate that it is also a destination worthy of a longer stay for local residents wanting to fully explore the area.
For local users with tents who are comfortable with primitive camping conditions and value a quiet setting near water and access to hiking trails, Goose Creek State Park Tent Campground appears to be an excellent option within the "camping near me" category. The beauty and cleanliness of the park, along with the river access, enhance the appeal for outdoor enthusiasts. While specific promotional information is not available in the reviews, the positive experiences shared by visitors serve as a strong recommendation for this natural retreat.
In conclusion, Goose Creek State Park Tent Campground offers a beautiful and clean primitive camping experience in a quiet natural setting near Washington, NC. Its key features include river access and a network of trails for hiking. While the amenities in at least one section are basic, with eco-friendly toilets and no nearby showers, the tranquility and natural beauty of the location make it an attractive option for local tent campers seeking a peaceful escape and opportunities for outdoor activities. Potential visitors should be prepared for primitive camping conditions and come equipped accordingly to fully enjoy the serene environment of Goose Creek State Park.

Goose Creek State Park Tent Campground Reviews
Nice primitive campground. I give it 3 stars because it had what I wanted when I camped there, a quite place near water and I would come back again. The section I stayed in was a no frills campground. Toilets were the eco-friendly type without water and there were no showers nearby. Just a nice quite spot to set up your tent. Some of the trails were closed but we didn't mind. In and out in a night to move on to the next spot.

Aug 06, 2022 · Luis MercedWe loved our stay at the park. Great atmosphere. Incredibly helpful staff. And shout out to the ranger who came and got our information for the youtube channel. There is alot to do there. From bike rentals, and canoe rentals to fishing, and a mini golf course. The only complaint I have is the price for a campsite. I think they need to come down alot compared to other state parks in other states. But other then that, great park!
May 09, 2023 · Jay GWe had a wonderful weekend here for a end-of-winter camping excursion. Our campsite was one of the furthest out so we had water views (read: osprey sightings) all around. There were some extremely windy moments and some rain, but it was still absolutely worthwhile. Turtle encounters were a treat, and we loved the scenery so much we ended up walking more even when our feet were done for the day. It's a very charming place, and I hope to go back! Be sure to do tick checks even in cold weather though!
Mar 11, 2024 · Sadie RappWe stayed in the primitive area. So peaceful in the pine forest. Nice shaded sites. Pit toilets only in that area but they were clean and maintained. $15 for a primitive site. Drove up to the RV and cabin area to take showers. No escaping the heat in that loop. Direct sun with no trees. The bathrooms were spotless and looked brand new. I took away one star because I was not able to regulate the temperature of the water for my shower. It was push button only and the water was scalding hot. Be prepared for some really red skin if you plan on using the showers. Ouch.
