Hemlock Hill Camp Resort Introduce
For local users exploring the "camping near me" category, Hemlock Hill Camp Resort, located at 118 Hemlock Hill Rd, Goshen, CT 06756, USA, offers a distinctive camping experience based on customer reviews. With a long history and a reputation for a more natural setting, it presents a potential option for those seeking a traditional wilderness feel in their local camping excursions.
According to a long-time camper, the environment at Hemlock Hill Camp Resort is one of its most significant features. It is described as "one of the most wilderness campgrounds in the state," contrasting with other campgrounds that are more open and have fewer trees with paved roads. Hemlock Hill, in contrast, is characterized by "a lot of foliage and dirt roads," which contributes to a feeling of being more immersed in nature and providing a more authentic camping atmosphere. Goshen, Connecticut, is situated in a region known for its natural beauty, likely featuring rolling hills, forests, and possibly proximity to lakes or other natural attractions. The abundance of trees at Hemlock Hill suggests ample shade and a sense of privacy at campsites. For local users who appreciate a natural, less manicured camping environment, the wilderness feel and foliage of Hemlock Hill could be a major draw, offering a genuine escape into nature close to home.
Information regarding the specific services offered at Hemlock Hill Camp Resort is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. One review mentions an initial issue upon arrival where "there was no one to wait on us. We had to search for someone." This suggests that immediate check-in or assistance might not always be readily available, and it might be prudent for local users to contact the resort in advance regarding arrival procedures, especially if arriving outside of typical business hours. The review does not provide details about standard campground services such as restroom facilities, water sources, electrical hookups, or waste disposal. Given that the resort has been operating for a long time and is favored by some for its traditional camping feel, it likely offers essential amenities, but the extent and modernity of these services are unclear. Local users should contact Hemlock Hill Camp Resort directly at (860) 361-6888 or +1 860-361-6888 to inquire about the specific services available, including campsite types (tent, RV), hookups, restroom and shower facilities, water access, and any other services that are important for their camping needs.
The features of Hemlock Hill Camp Resort, as highlighted by the positive review, center around its natural and traditional camping experience. The "dirt roads instead of paved roads" and the "lot of foliage" are key features that contribute to its wilderness feel. This might appeal to local users who prefer a more rustic and less developed campground setting. However, another review mentions that the campground "felt like everybody owned their own share (lots of permanent campground sites) and I felt like an outsider in a closed community." This suggests a significant presence of seasonal or permanent campers, which could influence the overall atmosphere for short-term visitors. While this might create a sense of community among long-term residents, it could also lead to a different experience for those visiting for a shorter duration. Local users should be aware of this potential dynamic. Other potential features, not explicitly mentioned, could include hiking trails within or near the campground, picnic areas, or fire rings at campsites. To get a comprehensive understanding of the features available to short-term campers, contacting Hemlock Hill Camp Resort directly is recommended.
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category, Hemlock Hill Camp Resort offers a location in Goshen, CT, which might be conveniently accessible depending on their specific location within the region. The appeal of a "wilderness campground" with abundant foliage and a more natural setting could be a significant draw for those seeking an escape from more developed camping options. However, the mention of a potentially unwelcoming atmosphere due to many permanent sites is a factor that local users might want to consider further by seeking more information or recent reviews. It underscores the importance of gathering a balanced perspective before making a decision.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not contain any details about current specials, discounts, or packages offered by Hemlock Hill Camp Resort. To obtain the most up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any ongoing promotions, local users should contact the resort directly using the provided phone numbers: (860) 361-6888 or +1 860-361-6888. When calling, it would be beneficial to inquire about any seasonal rates, discounts for local residents, or special offers for first-time visitors. They might also have information about the best times to visit to avoid any potential feeling of being an "outsider" if the community atmosphere is a concern. Checking if they have a website or social media presence could also provide insights into current promotions or events happening at the resort.
In conclusion, Hemlock Hill Camp Resort in Goshen, CT, offers a locally accessible "camping near me" option with a distinct emphasis on a wilderness feel, characterized by abundant foliage and dirt roads, which appeals to those seeking a more traditional camping experience. However, potential local users should be aware of a review indicating a significant presence of permanent sites that might create a less welcoming atmosphere for short-term visitors and a report of initial difficulty finding assistance upon arrival. It is highly recommended that local users contact Hemlock Hill Camp Resort directly at (860) 361-6888 or +1 860-361-6888 to inquire about current services, features available to transient campers, and any promotional offers to ensure it aligns with their expectations for a local camping getaway.

Hemlock Hill Camp Resort Reviews
Been camping at this campground for over 35 years and with in that time seen many changes but it’s always been a favorite spot for me and my family as it’s one of the most wilderness campgrounds in the state with many campgrounds being more in the open and less trees with paved roads. Hemlock hill to me feels more like camping with a lot of foliage and dirt roads instead of paved roads to me this makes it feel more like camping.

Jul 07, 2024 · Mister RightNice people and very helpful staff. Sites r nice but only a few for long campers. Rs is 40 feet and we had to change sites when we arrived because the 1st site was not long enough to accommodate our rig. Sites don't have sewer, but campground will empty black water for a fee. 1 last note, to quote Dennis Leary from the movie The Ref ' Connecticut is the 5th ring of hell.' I only say that because of things that happened on the ride to Connecticut
